My 8 year old daughter has to pick a famous person to do a report on. The only restriction that I know of is that she can't pick a sports personality. I pulled a few names out of my hat, Susan B. Anthony, Gandhi, Judy Garland, John Lennon, I don't remember who all. Who would you recommend if it were your child?

Hey there dawn I would tell my child to do a report on a British chap I am a huge, huge fan of right now and his name is Derren Brown. He is amazing, well I think he is! If you hold fire I shall explain a little more about him soon in a discussion that I am planning to start about him.

I would recommend someone whose life can transmit a value or a message to our youngsters. I would choose Gandhi out of the personalities you have mentioned. His revolutionary ideas of peace has brought change to his country without bloodshed. Even if he paid with his own life. I would suggest to watch his movie. Ben Kingsley portrays the part of Gandhi in an admirable way.

I would choose Gandhi too but the child may not agree with me. Actually she also told me that she will have to dress up like this person next week, so I'm thinking she'll choose a female.

What about an American hero? Basically, she has to choose for herself - you can only offer suggestions. It must be someone that she is interested in or else this will be such a chore for her to do. My braion is fried. have to go out on the road. If I think of anything I will contact yuou later. Good luck

Hm if you're going to use a third grader's paper, I'd say they have pretty low standards where you go to school. lol My dad would have recommended Beethoven actually. And she likes music, so not a bad idea.

I would first of all ask my daughter who she thinks would be a good person to do the report on. If she came up with noone, I would say, do you want to do it on a woman or man, someone that is a movie star, a former president, ect. From there give her the list to choose from. I think all of the ideas given were wonderful. It all depends on your daughters interests. It would be more fun to do a report on someone you have some interest in rather than just someone you pick out of thin air.

I think the best thing is to let your daughter decide let her choose someone she is interested in and then she will really want to do the report. I would let her pick some names and then guide her towards the one I thought would be the easiest.

I am sure you have picked one by now. I would do the one I can get the easist info on and lots of pictures to use of them. Sometimes it can be hard getting info (or lack of it) You can let me know who she choose to write about. Cleopatra or Marilynn Monroe sounds good also.

If she were looking for someone that would be well covered in books, she should try any of the founding fathers. Also Abraham Lincoln would probably be the person with the most literature concerning him! No trouble finding info with him!
