I really want to flatten my belly. I have had two children, so I have that pregnancy flab and I would really love to get rid of it or atleast reduce it. Do any of you mothers know of any really good exercises that I can try?

Aztcgirl how much fun is the WiiFit I love playing on it and it did help me to lose 2 kgs which I put back on after I stopped using it for awhile and got back into my bad eating habits, I have never heard of a glass of water with a cap full of white or apple cider vinegar but might give it try

Try Callenetics - it is hard work but you get good results in a relatively short space of time, but you need to do cardio as well to help get rid of your tummy fat. I have an air walker and I do 30 minutes on that and 1 hour callenetics on alternate days. There was a significant shift in my body shape within 3-4 weeks.

Callenetics is a series of small, gentle, precise movements that helps the body's large muscles to tighten. You do 50 or 100 very small movements moving only a couple of millimetres at a time. It is hard work to start with but like everything in life, the more you put in the more you will get out. I am a very results-driven person and I was amazed at how quickly I started to see and feel the benefits, which motivated me to carry on. The program was devised by a lady called Callan Pinkney I guess about 30 years ago now. I bought a video of the program back in the 80s but I suppose it is available on DVD now. If I were you I'd check it out. Don't forget though that you have to combine it with a healthy-eating regime and a cardio program. Best of luck and let us know how you get on. If you want to add me as a friend I'd be quite happy to 'buddy' you if you need extra support and encouragement.

Thanks so much. I think I will try and find a DVD of this exercise program. I really hope that it works for me. I have started to try and eat healthier and I have already been exercising some, but I think an exercise program would be really nice to have. I have added you as a friend. Thanks so much for your advice and support.

I'm not a mother but I do go down the gym three times a week and have spoken to a few mums down there. In the past this subject has cropped up and a couple of them have said that in the event of having a baby it's best to get to the gym fairly soon afterwards. I mean don't push yourself too much but a little bit of exercise does help and apparently an instructor told me your stomach muscles actually knit back together if your abdominals are worked out a little while after giving birth. I don't know if there's any truth in it but it's certainly something to think about. I haven't even had a baby and i'm struggling trying to lose mine. Mines not massive but it really does need shrinking a bit. The problem I have is that no matter how many crunchs and sit-ups I do...unless I lose the fat which lies on top of my abdominal muscle....you can't see the underneath effect. The only way to lose this flab is to do more cardio exercise, running, aerobics, dancing etc. In my opinion a combination of both cardio and stomach toning exercises like sit ups will work in conjucntion with each other and should do the trick. I think my problem is the fact I often get given cakes at work and where do they go....straight to my belly, backside and thighs....it's my own fault really I should just learn to say no.

Hi singlemommy! There are no hard and fast rules in fab abs training. The secret to great abs is a balance of three important factors: eating right diet, training program and cardiovascular work. Adopt a healthy and well-balanced diet. Starvation diets do not work because instead of increasing your metabolism, they tell your body to slow down a bit-which eventually makes it even harder to burn fat. Moreover, by not eating, you deprive your body of nutrients. Although yo9u may look slim your body fat percentage maybe at a very high rate., putting your health at risk. Professional advised that eating five to six meals a day will help control your appetite. And they added that, melting belly fat begins when you start burning fat. You can cannot burn fat in only one area of the body.

Yes, I'm trying to eat healthier and I want to start an exercise program that I can filter around my life as a mom. My 2 year old is one who is always trying to crawl all over me when I'm exercising. I've been trying to do crunches and a few other exercises as well.

I have tried a lot of different exercises to reduce or tighten that baby fat. Sometimes my tummy starts to look good but then the next thing I know, it is back. I just keep trying to make that area tighter. In the evenings when I am watching tv, I do this: Every time a commercial comes on tv, I suck that belly in and hold it until the commercial ends. Then I do that for the next commercial. Since there is usually about five commercials in a row every 10 minutes, it makes for a good nightly exercise if I do this for two shows.

Yeah I know what you are talking about I had a c-section when i had one of my kids 14 years ago and now my tummy just droops and its not nice and I have tried so many ways to try and lose it but nothing works at the moment I have been playing on the WiiFit and using a treadmill coz they say you have to shift the fat off the stomach muscle so push ups and that are not going to work coz you still have the fat there so I am trying to burn off the fat first and then if I am able to get that done then I will start working on a tight tummy but I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch!

This Yogi would recommend leg rises and sit-ups to flatten a droopy stomach. Lie on your back hands flat on the floor, and lift your legs about 2 feet above the floor and back to the floor again. I like to do this about 20 times each morning. The sit-ups are easy too. Just lie on the floor with your feet under a couch or heavy object. Sit up and then lower your body back down slowly. Do this 15 or 20 times before breakfast each morning. After a few months your stomach will be hard and flat.
