I think the two most beautiful moments in the whole day is the dawn and the dusk. Both are similar weather wise but brings different kind of feelings. One the start and another end. Even though, it's like a cycle and is obvious, I cannot but get mesmerised by the overwhelming presence of the these precious moments! While I was sitting alone at one such dusks, a thought came to my mind. Had we been able to distinguish between dawn and dusk if we were confined in a room beyond date and time? This is hypothetical but there is no doubt that these two moments are magical! “Don’t look so sad, it’s not so bad, you know. It’s just another night. That’s all it is.”

Yes they are spiritual moments and brings much peace to oneself. Distinguishing gets easier for a nature lover but when you are beyond time and space, confined in a space, it would be hard I guess.

Hi mimpi1911! I don't think I will be able to distinguish dusk from dawn if I will be confined in a room beyond date and especially if I will be deprived of the time. Maybe if I will be sitting and gazing on it longer,I will see if the sun is rising or if it will be setting..then that's the only way for me to distinguish if its dawn or dusk. Other than that, I don't think I can...except for the kind of feeling I have which I can not really explain why. For whenever I witness the dawn, I can't help the feeling of so much hope and excitement..once, I had my hand outstretched while welcoming the dawn, trying to catch all the blessings being showered while I was gazing the horizon. It was a special feeling of hope. And when dusk comes, I can't help but feel so thankful for another day that I have lived and a little sad that it has ended especially when I felt extra happy within that day. take care dear friend and hoping we will all have beautiful moments from dusk til dawn. lovelots..faith210

I hope so Faith. Hope, love and faith all must come to all and let's make thisw world better and peaceful. It's indeed difficult to distinguish between the two Faith. Recently, when my uncle was admitted in hospital for days, he couldn't make out dawn and dusk. That's natural I guess.

a magical moment - It's so mesmerising
Indeed they are two of the most beautiful moments in the day. Each having its own significance. How often i have got myself into a trance like situation enjoying the scenery and the visual effects created by these wonderful events. Be it a hillside, a beach or in nature each having thier own scenic magnification of the beauty. And yes if we were in a room with no sense of time at all, it would be so difficult to distinguish beween the two.

stunning - I feel like i'm floating
Very well put Mimpi.. It's such an apt description. Each of the moments have thier own beauty and no two of them i have found to be the same. The greater the scenic beauty, the greater the sense of overwhelment.

Nature is amazing! You can find yourself lost in it only to be found by another magnificence of it! I have always wondered about the dusk and dawn - they are so poignant in their own ways , just like two lovers. The dawn being happy times and the dusk being the fighting times. But on both occasions they are together.

Yes, undoubtedly dawn and dusk are the most fascinating moments of a day and it looks awesome to observe those particular moments. Although dawn and dusk come everyday, but we do not get to see it on most of the occasions, due to our preoccupations. For example, now a days winters are going on in Delhi, so it is difficult to get up very early in the morning and enjoy the moments of dawn. However, it is practically possible in summers here. I feel that I have best observed the moments of dawn and dusk, while travelling in trains. When one gets up early in the morning, before dawn one can sense the scene outside, when it slowly starts getting dawn. From a train, the vision gets wider and you can enjoy the moments of dawn. Also watching dawn and observing the sun setting process from a moving train, is also treat to watch. How slowly the sun disappears and descends down looks something extra-ordinary. Thereafeter the moments of dusk are worth observing. Yes, you are right if we are confined to a room, we will surely be deprieved of these two wonderful moments of the nature. Very Good Post!

Thanks Chaitra. This discussion is very close to my heart. Recently I have been working hard to get little time to enjoy the beautiful moments in life. Even though it was a conscious effort and not the way it used to to be when I had much time but getting to enjoy the beauties of nature is giving me immense strength to live the not-so-pleasant things in life. I feel lost and but I am never alone when with the nature.

Hi mimpi, yes its wonderful to watch the sun rising and setting....From my balcony I can infact get a good view of the sun rise and sunset everyday, and I never get tired of watching the sunrise every day.....Its such a wonderful feeling to wake up and stand in the balcony, breathe in some fresh air and to watch the sun rising ,heralding another mysterious day......filling me with wander as to what it will hold for me.....And I watch the sunset also with mixed feelings.....and leaves me wondering what the blanket of darkness will hide in its folds as it becomes dark...

I am glad that you mentioned this Roseo. And trust me my plight as a child was pretty much the same. I just couldn't understand what's there to die for when we get to see it every single day! The beauty of the dusk and dawn could best be watched from Kanyakumari and I am glad that we did make a visit later in life when i was much grown up and let me tell you that was once in a life time experience!

You know Mimpi this reminds me,when I was a kid I went with my parents to Kanyakumari which is the southern most tip of India, and is the meeting point of the Arabian sea,the Bay of Bengal and the Indain ocean. We stayed there for two days. The main attraction of that place besides bathing in the sea,was watching the sunrise and sunset from there. As a kid I just could not understand why my parents woke me up at 4 in the morning and made me walk along the beach bare foot to look at the sun rising.....I was still sleepy and still a kid and could not understand what was the big thing about it,and could not understand why one had to lose one's sleep to watch the sun rising.....he..he............

Yes, those two times of day are my most favorite and awe-inspiring. There is a goofy old America love song about "A room without windows" where the guy is mooning on about wanting to shut his girlfriend away with him in a space where he can see only her, and that song give me the shudders because I don't care how infatuated two people might be with one another, I want windows and lots of them! When hubby closes the shades I always go around opening them again. I don't want to miss any of the light of day.

They are beautiful times of the day. Such tranquility comes with them. For us, the birds signalling the start of the new day is wonderful. The Laughing Kookaburra is numerous in our neighbourhood, and you can't help but wake up laugjing along with them. Then there is the end of the day. The same Kookaburra's laugh us into the dark, wishing us pleasant dreams. yes, apart from the mosquitos, dawn and dusk are certainly wonderful times of day.

These precious moments are really one of a kind. Sure they do come at least once in a day but you can say that no two dusk/dawn are exactly the same. It would be overwhelming to try and capture each and everyone of those moments but when these already inspiring moments are even made special by an event in our lives like spending it with loved ones, they will never be forgotten.

Yes they are......both magical moments in a day and like you I feel great whenever am having moments w/ each one in a day. I like sunset/dusk because I like seeing the sun fading away and it suggests another night time....another sleep. I also like it in dawn (although am not really that much awake) because it suggests another beginning of a new day. And we should always be thankful each moment having them.

Hi mimpi! That is a good question! I don't know if I would be able to distinguish the difference between the dawn and the dusk! I must say that I pay more attention to the dusk so I might be able to distinguish that. But, if you lose track of time you get disoriented so that has to be taken into consideration too! So I really don't know if it is possible after a certain length of time to be able to tell if it is morning or evening!

yes, that's what I meant Opal. It's difficult for some disoriented person and even for us if we are made to confine in a place for days.

Most of the time when I am working and I get to go on the hikes, we get to appreciate the dusk and sunset. Now I also get to appreciate the dawn. I once woke up and from Boyfriend's window saw the usual big oak tree but with the horizon oh-so-beautiful. That got me out of bed right away as I just got so blown away.

They are definitely both very enjoyable and magical times of the day. Out with the old and in with the new, with both being picturesque! I am never up early enough to see the dawn though. lol. Without supporting tools like a clock or something and if we were to remove the ability to experience either of them physically, I think we would end up getting into cycles that revolved more around bodily needs than anything else. Sleep and eating for example. We have become preprogrammed by default to embrace each day as a 24 hour period that begins and ends with both. Take them away and time also; and we would end up reprogrammed with different patterns.

Recently when the doctor asked my uncle, who has been on bed since a few days, to tell if it is evening or early morning, he couldn't. He said it could be both! That made me realise that its difficult of we are kept confined beyond time and space.

I am what one might call a morning person. The best time of day for me is the dawning, as the night sky starts to lighten and the horizon displays a red/orange color. Whilst I like the night sky, the morning somehow feels fresher to me :-) Derek
