Case Sensitive

Don't you hate it when you type something in, and you get a screen that says you put in the wrong password or username? Because so many sites are case sensitive, it seems like I have to go back and unlock the Caps key. Since I don't have the internet at home, and I use my parent's computer, I don't leave my passwords or usernames checked so I do end up having to sign in every time. It's not a big deal, but do you guys ever have that problem? Would you rather all sites just let you type in your info without it being case sensitive?

I have a little 'black book' that I keep a record of my passwords in. If I know I'm going to be using a different (or public) computer, I just take it with me. I started doing that back in the old days, where if you forgot your password you were SOL for ever getting back into a site. The upper case/lower case doesn't really bother me that much, it's just another way to make your passowrds a little more secure. Besides, it gives my pinkies a little excercise...lol

Help! When I read your reply I didn't give the word 'gentlemen' a second thought. Then when I read to the end of your post, I realized that we're in the same old-timers club. LOL Some one actually gave the book to an ex a long time ago. I confiscated it and put it to good use. If I didn't have so many passwords in it, I probably should have given it back as a parting gift.....

No not really it is just a tiny attempt to make your passwords more secure.

Yes, I would prefer that they not be case sensitive. I have enough to do with my day without having to be patient with that, too.

I downloaded Roboform on my computer, for free, and it saves and puts in my passwords for each site so I never have that problem. It also allows me to have different PWs for each site that are random so I am more secure. It also allows you to enter PWs without hitting the keys, which I am told by my computer geek friends, is more secure, too. Look into it.

You're the second person to mention that. I should give it a look.

One thing that I like about it is that it generates the random passwords for you. A few times I had sites where my account was hacked but since I have used Roboform, it has not happened. This year I upgraded for the small amount and it is worth it.

It is for your own protection that some sites do this. I hate it more when I forget my password. I use my computer from my home and always stay logged in to sites so if something happens and for some reason I have to log in. I usually have to go through the process of trying to retrieve my password. And then when they ask what the answer is to my secret question I don't remember that answer. I just wish sometimes there was no such thing as id and passwords.

I don't hate it, more i like is no one else cannot access my password and my username. Many site make you like that, because your username and your password is only u know it. Sometimes i forget why i turn on/turn off my capslock, well that really keep your username and your password will be safe. I even never logout in any site, when somebody want to use my computer than i will logout my account.

Yes I do understand your frustration with this. I do get annoyed sometimes as you do but I have realized that it's just for added security measures. I use Firefox and it remembers my passwords so I don't have to hassle with this too often.

It's just that if the person already has my password, and the case sensitive is the only thing stopping them, I think they may figure the case sensitive thing out. Or maybe not.

yes I really don't think they should be case sensitive, and those tests to reproduce the letters, half of them are too hard to read they should stop that.

Good point! I have had that problem with a few sites. I know they want to reduce spam or whatever, but sometimes what they give us isn't legible.

I hate it when I type the password in wrong or when I accidently hit Cap Lock. I do that alot and get mad because I can't get in to where I want to and then I realize I hit Caps Lock. So don't feel to bad I think I do this everyday.

I just hate that problem. I also forget when its a site that I do not go to often. I just cant remember for sure and I cant keep them all wrote down lol I also hate the sites that force you to add numbers to your pass because then you have to remember them and it changes from my usual passwords. ugh! lol

Yep. I never want to add numbers, and a lot of them now require it.

I like it because I know that it is for security reasons. There are lots of people out there that will try to do just about anything to access your account or personal information. I don't know what will they get by doing that but they do it anyway.

It's just that if the case sensitive part is the only thing stopping a hacker, that means they already have your password, they just have to retype it being case sensitive.

What I hate the most is when I site makes you use a capital letter. I don't ever put capital letters in my passwords, so I sometimes forget what my password is at sites like that. I would prefer it if sites were not case sensitive as well.

I hate when sites are like that, and especially when you only have so many tries before they lock you out. If it's not the caps, it a space you forgot, or instead of the word it's just the number...

yes, but I found something that helps me out I got for Christmas. I got a internet address organizer and, believe me it does help me I am the worst on stick note with info every where. On my desk on the side of my desk above my desk. You name it. And, then I have to go find the right note. Now, I have cut back a lot and I can find it fast. But, I do wish they where not case sensitive. And, I also hate where you have to type the stupid weird letters to pass as a person. I can never read them right. Could they just not think of something else?

Yes, sometimes they have a weird backdrop that prevents me from seeing what they want me to type correctly.

I think it's a good protection shield....that everything be typed in the way it should be....makes it harder for scammers etc.

I guess it depends on what type of site I'm using. I think that security is very important, and if being case sensitive helps my bank account to be more secure, then I'm down with that. I do find myself having to retype passwords every once in awhile, but I'd rather have that small irritation, that no security.

Ya I face this problem everyday.I ll tell you what happend today, I had problem wit loging in my user account in the computer which I use in college lab.He had cleared my password and told me now you have to leave you "password" field blank and asked me to login without password. Now BLANk is my password there. My friend know that. I just logged in my accout and my friend was sitting next to me and he logged in his account in the computer which was very next to mine. After sometime I saw my another friend browsing there two rows next to ours.As When I went to talk to another, my friend next to me changed the password. And he smiled at me and said "I have changed your password" and I yelled at him and asked him to tell the new password when he entered it said "Incorecct password" and my heart froze.Later he typed the same after pressing caps lock.then it opened.....

I know what you mean.. It's annoying! However, once you have your on pc and it remembers you passwords it's not that bad.
