Day Three of Curves

Today was my third workout session at Curves. My body is full of aches and pains as I have used muscle that I had forgotten that I had! My shoulders and knees are hurting more than any muscle though. I have arthritis in my shoulders and knees. The owner of our local Curves told me that if I am feeling a great deal of pain I need to not go at the machines that use my arms going full tilt! Initially I thought I could do a workout 5 days a week. I have since decided that it would be best to workout 3 days a week and gradually increase to 5 days a week. In between days at Curves I hope to do a little exercising at home. I do have a sedentary bicycle and a few exercise tapes/cds. Now if I can only get my body to cooperate!

Good luck with all your plans!! For me it's always easier said than done. I did read somewhere once though that if you go to a gym your not supposed to go daily. Something about conditioning your muscles I think.
Don't Give Up :) Good Luck!

I feel your pain....it's difficult to get those muscles to cooperate without making us feel aweful.....I have a sedentary bike too....I should use it more...but I do alot of walking during the day so hopefully that helps. Good luck with your plan! I am rooting for you!

My sedentary bike has been used as a clothes rack for about 2 years now. I have to find a place to put the clothes that have collected there!

I have thought about using a treadmill but I am not so certain I can tolerate the motion of it under my feet. The other problem I face is where to store it!

It's wonderful that you are on an exercise regiment. The key is consistence, I know with the aching muscles it is difficult. Yeah, I imagine with the pain you are experiencing it would be better to decrease the days that you are going to curves. Hopefully, in time you will be able to return to the five day workouts.
I wish you a lot of luck, keep up the good work.

Yes it is a wonder what exersice tapes can do to us! Makes me feel old when I am trying to do one and then the next day I can't move at all! Oh the pain and suffering it takes a woman to look so good. Or in my case the pain and suffering and I still look the same!

I am having problems getting this to post. I hope you are keeping up with your rest and nutrition so that your fitness program will be making you feel better soon. I wish that I would get started on some fitness programs myself.

I now the feeling, believe me.
I thought I could workout, the same like when I was young.hahaha!
First I had been off work for almost a year.
Could not walk much in the beginning, and when I finally could
they told me sport would be good.
I don't know, I feel pretty much like you.
Sometimes I wonder if it is really so good for my back???
And like you I have pains everywhere.
But, Lets struggle threw, we can do it.
3 days a week, but slowly building it up.
Good luck.
Take care.

This is wondeful! Keep it up. I wish that we had a curves in my country, I would beat everyone to the door. Three days a week is good going if you have not exercised in a while and then work up to five. I do hope that you lose weight and feel good about yourself. I need to lose so much but just can't seem to get motivated. do you work out with a friend or did you just go and make friends with the other women?

When you stretch your muscles to the limit, it develops tiny (really tiny) tears. It is because of the secretions from this tear that your muscles develop. When one exercises after a long gap it is natural to feel those pains.
May be in your enthusiasm, you over worked. 3 days a week is a very sensible schedule to follow.
My father had acute problem of arthritis, but continious intake of "drumstick"(vegetable) helped him immensly. He went on a drumstick diet for 3 months with vengance & today he is an extremly active person. Nature has many cures , if we know to harness it.
All the best for curvy sess
