Are you a morning or night person?

Do you usually wake up early in the morning bursting with energy and radiance? Morning persons enjoy watching the sunrise and empty roads, getting ready before anyone else and have an early night in. Or do you become more active during late afternoon, working or studying till late at night, and getting to bed just a few hours before sunrise? I would classify myself as a night person, I work harder in the evening, sleep late at night and prefer to wake up late too. How about you mylotters?

I am a night person. I prefer to work at night when everybody is asleep. I find that my mind works better because I have less distractions and I do finish task much more quicker in the evening or late night than in the morning.

I don't what I am anymore, to be honest. I wake up in a good mood in the mornings, but I have a really hard time falling asleep at night lately. There used to be a time when I could fall asleep with no problem and work through the day with ease. Not anymore. For some reason, I have more energy in the evening and I'm dragging all day long. It's like my body is doing a time flip flop on me. It's weird!

Nope, no change in that. It's weird because I feel so exhausted all throughout the day. After dinner, I start getting more energy. Completely the opposite of what I'm used to happening.

Was there a change in work or routine? Or maybe you don't need long hours of sleep to regain your energy.

Definitely a night owl. I'm sleepy no matter how much I sleep, when I wake up in the morning.

I am definately a night person. I can adjust my sleeping pattern to some extent ie start getting up a little bit earlier then hopefully go to bed a bit earlier. I do believe though that we just have some in-built thing that makes us either night or day people. When I go on retreat I have to get up at 5am. It's extremely painful but after a time you do start to adjust and get to sleep a bit earlier to compensate BUT as soon as I go home, I start to sleep in later and gradually my pattern shifts back round. Same thing has happened when I've had jobs where I had to get up earlier and then finished with it. The other thing is not just when you tend to be awake but how productive you are. I stumble through tasks during the day and have to push myself to get things done and usually end up just doing the bare minimum. In the evening I feel more motivated to do things. I get more ideas and am more likely to follow through with them. I'm also more likely to get engrossed in something and carry on working for longer than planned. Irony is, I absolutely love that really early morning time when it's quiet and the sun's just coming up. If for some reason I get up or am still up at that time, I will have to compensate by having a nap. You know what my ideal would be? To stay up late, have a few hours sleep (maybe 4), then get up at dawn, do my meditation, maybe a gentle walk or some yoga, breath in that fresh clear morning air, have some breakfast, then snuggle back up for a bit more sleep. You know I'm sure I read somewhere that our bodies where originally set for a sleep-wake cycle twice in 24 hours, not once. This would be so much better for me. How about everyone else? Would you prefer 2 shorter sleeps to 1 long one?

I definately prefer one long sleep, but on weekends I do have a nap in the afternoon occasionally. Yet again, then I'll sleep much later than usual, as I would be full of energy.

I used to be a morning person, but after coming to college, i started going to bed later and later! This is better for me, as assignments are usually due at midnight, and I of course procrastinate when possible ^^;

I have some friends like you who are able to stay up without sleep for a few days, but they take pills to stay full of energy. Although it may be convenient for sometime, I don't think it's healthy in the long run since our body needs an amount of rest everyday in order to work properly.

I am more of a morning person than a night person. I like to sleep at night. I have been working nights, mainly, for about a year now though. That is the schedule my husband is on also.

I used to be a night person in my younger teen days. It was nothing to stay up till 4 in the morning and sleep til noon. But now that I am over thirty, do not party or anything like that, I tend to be in bed before midnight. After that is considered rare and wild. LOL I am usually up before 7 every morning. After that is like I have slept in. I now like to be up at dawn and see the sun come up. The house is quiet and peaceful and I enjoy a cup of tea by myself before the children are up. Also I can get the computer first. LOL

I used to be a morning person and I used to get up early every morning whether I had to work or not. I also used to be in bed by 10 at night. But it seems these days I am up later and later and I am having trouble getting up in the mornings. I am up around 8 in the mornings now and I am so tired some days. I can't seem to get back to a good routine. I don't know why. I stay up too late but I can't seem to go to sleep early anymore. Maybe I have to get up really early and stay up so I can go to sleep earlier in the evening. Maybe then I can get back to a routine. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

I am a night person. I sit up and compute, read, or watch television. Then, I like to sleep late, not that I always do. I went to bed at 2AM last night and got up at 8:30 this morning, which means I didn't get my usual sleep. I'll be gone most of the day, so no napping today.

I definitely am a night person! I don't know but my mind is at its best when darkness sets in. It's my most preferred time to do paper works, and some good reading. I usually go to bed at 4 or 5am. "You're really going insane!" was mom's response every time she checks on me early in the morning and finds me holding a book! LOL! I read novels at night and i get so hooked on it. I'd lose track of the time! Unfortunately, i have some obligations to meet in the morning and i can't afford to wake up late so i'll have to teach myself some amount of self-discipline. I'm currently working on it!

I used to be a night person when i was still in college but when I started my first job, which i have a night shift, i realize i'm not a night person at all. I felt that i am when i was still studying because i'm doing whatever i want. but being at work, it's different. I have to follow rules and i have to wake up against my will to go to work.. Plus sometimes, i just HATE my job. hahaha..

well getting up early in the morning is so tuf. i really struggle for tht.but ofcourse during college time i had no other go but to get up and run to the college. now get up relaxed, and do things very slowly in the day. get active only in the evenings , so kind of a night person. can stay awake for a long time. but if i tired doing something the whole day, i might have to sleep early.

Definitely a night person because I have more energy at night time. Well how did I know you might ask. Well i normally go to gym at the morning, once i attended the gym at evening time because I was busy in the morning. WOW I could life up double the weight which I usually could lift up in the morning. Then I knew that at night time I had more energy than at the day time. I can also stay up all night and hang out online there's no problem for me on that. But my college is in the morning time when I fell lazy.

Wow, you know I have always been a morning person...always, I still am...staying up is much harder for me than getting up early...however, I would really enjoy just getting an extra half hour of sleep lately in the mornings, then I can be a better morning person...LMAO.

interesting question, vanilla_28. I'm actually a night person, as my work usually starts at around 9:00pm and ends 6:00am, weekdays. In the morning, whenever I'm not in front of my pc (responding to questions here in mylot or viewing some sites), you would find me catching some morning sleep to get my body recharged for the night. Sometimes, if I still have time, I browse thru the pages in the magazines or watch television. And would you believe that I also bring my shift during the weekends, meaning when its a saturday, I'm sleeping in the morning and waking up around 11:00pm or 12:00mn, and I sleep again sunday morning. It became a routine, I think. Just get used to that schedule.
