When I am watching a show it appears that is more time on the commercials then the show.It seems that I see ten minutes of the show, then there is 5 or 6 commercials to the show for another ten minutes,s.Then back to 5 or 6 commercials, this pattern goes on and on. It irritates me.Does it irritate you?

You're right! It's really irritating especially when you starting to get thrilled of what you are watching. You can post up to 5 to 6 comments or start a discussion on mylot once the commercials start. ;)

that is a good way of dealing with the showing of those commercials on television, anewor. doing mylot while the commercials are ongoing is an excellent alternative to getting irritated while waiting for the time when the break is done with. it would be a good thing for me to copy this treatment that you give those tv commercial breaks.

That is a great way to look at and not get so frustrated. But you are right if you are really getting into the show, then it is still kind of irritating.

It's probably a public channel, but cable TV has many commercials too. They're just getting greedier...

Yes it does irritates me. what I do is.. I keep on switching channels. When the channel I watch starts to have commercials, I'll switch to other channel, then when they have commercials I will then switch back to the previous one, this also keeps going on and on. It really distract our concentration on the program we are watching. Well, those commercials are paid, so, it must be aired according to the contracts they have with the station. If they paid thousand dollars every time the commercial is aired, so.. the tv station has a lot of money, heheh that is why they give much priority for the commercials.

I have tried that too, usually the other channels have their commercials on at the same time.If I find a show that is on then by the time that they have commercials and I go back to the other show then I have already missed so much that I don't know whats going on.

Hi dfollin, Yes it does, we suposed to have 3 hours of the programme, in fact we only get 2 hours because of those darn commercials, oh how |I hate them, but their argument is that we don't pay for the stations, but we have to pay the BBC licens which is about £140 a year and they don't have commercials but most of the station I watch has commercials, I can't win. More and more I have been thinking that very same thing. Not only does it seem like commercials are more frequent, but then the time spans they're on is longer as well. I've actually made note a couple times when I've watched something I recorded on the DVR and fast forwarded the commercials. Sometimes there like a full 5 minutes of commercials at on time. That's just crazy. I wonder if there is set standards as to how much commercial time is alotted for television shows? You know, for example, a 30 minute sitcome can have 8 minutes of commercial time and needs 22 minutes of content.

I am lucky I guess, I watch movies on channels where they have no commericals and I watch hockey and football where there are commericals but they don't interrupt the game. The one show I see on a channel with commericals seems to have less breaks than what you described. Maybe because it is on cable? I don't know. Most commerical breaks come just in time for me to take a rest stop or get something to eat.

i get irritated too when i watch television shows only to find that there are so many commercials coming in. actually, we, the viewers might feel that there is only a good ten to fifteen minutes of airtime for that particular segment. yet, we are glued to the tv set for a half hour. this means that the commercials run for as long as the airtime of the segment in the least. this is the reason why tv stations have been earning good sums of money as the per minute airtime for commercials and pluggings are enormously high. now, it is these earnings which they use to cover all the expenses to secure the rights to air those shows with high franchise fees. so, there is no way that we can have minimal of commercials if we want to have good shows running on television.

yeah, there is always too many commercials! it's really annoying sometimes. you got a half hour show filled with a half hour of commercials. it's stupid and annoying...plus all the commercials are always about food! so they make you hungry. at least it seems that way for me. i don't watch much t.v because it all and theres not always stuff on to watch. they need to make less commercials thought, thats for sure but they aren't going too.

It bothers me quite a bit. The average running time of TV shows has decreased over the last 20 years. I have been watching TV shows online on on DVD. (There's very little worth watching on TV anymore). Half-hour shows from the 1980s run about 24-25 minutes. Current shows run about 21 minutes. This means an extra 3-4 minutes of commercials. Not only are there more commercials, I think they do interrupt the shows more frequently (as opposed to just making the breaks longer). I believe this is because, if they simply made the breaks longer, that encourages people to switch channels, or go do something else on the break. They keep the breaks short and frequent, so you have to stay put, or else miss something. This is one of the many reasons I try to watch everything online or on DVD.

We have begun DVRing our tv shows (like Tivo or taping them) and start watching them mid-show. We can then fast forward through the commercials. The closer to the end of the show, the more often they occur and the longer they last. It drives my husband nuts. It is slightly annoying to me, so I decided to keep the peace to do it that way. I remind my husband that the shows need the commercials as the sponsors pay for the shows to happen and they MUST do it in a way that they are assured people are watching. It is business and that is all there is to that. I actually enjoy some commercials.

It's very annoying. I have a DVR so I record all the good shows so that I can skip the commercials.

Hello dfollin! Well, I do hate tv commercials that's why I hate to watch tv sometimes. They almost consume all the time. It irritates me that I turn off the tv and surf the internet instead.

There are to many commercials. I record my shows and then watch them. I just cant watch any other way. The commericals are to long and there are to many of them. I just cant live without my dvr.

Hi!I`m compleately agreed with you. This is annoying. Here in Bulgaria we have too much commercials too.We often switch to another channel when the commercials start and when we are back about seven minutes later the commercials are still going. Our politicians are thinking about making a law which will allow commercial breaks to last no more than 2-3 minutes. This will be a good law but commercials are good buissness and nobody will let this law last longer than 1 month.Happy MyLotting!

yeah, i find it irritating as well that the commercial takes a lot of time than the show that you are watching with. After the commercial and the shows come back on air before you know it, it is another set of commercial will you be seeing on the television screen. Well we can't really blame the company for it is the commercial that determines the success of the show but it is irritating!
