Debating about geting a new handbag

I went to Walmart early this winter because my leather bag was getting a bit shoddy, and it is twenty years old. At the time, there were no good big leather bags and so I decided to get a small organizer and I mean small. I has a cash pocket on the side, two outside pockets, a zippered inside compartment, an inside zipper, and a place to put my cell phone and my passport. But that is about all. The two handles are now almost apart and I am using the shoulder strap that just clips on. Now the big purses are starting to appear, and they are only twenty dollars extra. I do not want to get another winter purse and if I do, I want it to be in leather. I like the idea of havng a purse with places to keep my credit cards as well as the other side. So do you find it frustrating to get a good purse that you do not have to throw everything in and you do not want to spend more than one hundred dollars on it?

I live in the USA and I do not have a problem finding what I want at a good price. My problem is convincing myself not to buy because I have enough.

I find that the purses are Walmart are not that big. The big ones there are not leather, and I would rather have a leather purse. The problem with me is that I have other things that I have to buy.

I have 2 hand tooled purses I dont use. and I use a fanny pack as it carries all I want . Carring a purse on the shoulder I found does alot of damage to that shoulder when you carry to much in it!

Guess ya could ask them! DO they have any shops up there that to hand tooled purses. They might cost more but they sure do last. I have had one for over 20 years!

I have a coach purse that my daughter gave me..I have a big brown purse my daughter gave me, and i have a Dooney & burke that my son gave me, plus a purse my husband gave me & several others ,different colors....I use one for awhile then i change and use the other for awhile, so i am always changing around purses....It gets annoying trying to find a purse that i really like when i am shopping for purses, i have to admit..I can never keep a purse very long without getting tired of it,so i change around a lot...

I keep my purses like forever and when they are falling apart, that is when I give them away. I find if I buy them new, they last the longest, and I have three, that old black leather purse that the lining and zipper is broken, the small organizer purse I bought when it started to get colder, and a white part canvas leather purse -that I got with a Sears gift card. I want to get a black leather shoulder purse.

i have many purses, actually i dont go out much, as i am not a working woman, i odnt need them so much, but y'day when i went shopping, i saw a very fancy handbag in one shop, and what was more, the reason to get to it was it was perfectly matching to the saree i have to wear in a wedding coming near in my family, but i didnt dared to buy it ummm....ya...the cost...it was very well embroidered and wondeful, but i couldn't have carried it anywhere except parties, so i dropped the idea, i have already spent out of budget for the event, all children's shopping etc, u know, there is always some ruppes more than we plan..

I do not work, so what I need is just two purses, one for winter, and one for summer. I have two purses, but the winter one is a bit too small and even though it is an organizer, there are somethings that I cannot get in. So I am thinking of a larger purse, but it has to be leather and it has to have a section for my credit cards so I do not have them slipping out of my wallet and it would be easier to find them.

I like to find bargains on purses. I only get a purse when they are on clearance. I hate to pay more than $15 for a purse, so there is no way that I would ever pay $100 for a purse.

I would get a one hundred dollar purse for half off. Of course, if someone gives me a gift certificate and I have nothing else to buy with it and if the gift certificate will pay for the purse plus taxes, I might get one. But it has to be a very good purse as I will be keeping it for at least 30 years.

I am the same way, that is why it takes me a while to find a good purse, and I hate it when I have to take second purse (like the one I have now, that is too small for my stuff ) and the trouble is that they are not that cheap.

I hardly ever buy me a new purse. I hardly ever carry one. I am very picky on the kinds of purses that I will carry also and will not spend a whole lot on one either.

I just want a winter purse and a summer purse, and since I want them in black and white, there is no need for more. Therefore I will have a black winter purse and a white summer purse, they have to be leather, and large enough to carry what I need, cell phone, credit card, passports, and wallet, etc.

If I can't find a handbag that I'd be happy with at Wal-Mart then I'll go to Target to get one. Either way, I don't usually spend more than $15 dollars on one. As long as it isn't too big or too small and can fit all of my items that I put into a handbag and can last for some time I'm happy.

Suspenseful, I really feel you on this!! I dread times when I realize it is time to get a new purse. Recently, I had to give in and buy one. The one that I had was a mess, Things were dissappearing into that "hidden hole" Do you know the one I am talking about? It is really hard to find yet you know there is one there because you can hear change but cant seem to find it? Then, a piece fell off, then another. So anyway, I went to Walmart,as well, and found nothing.Prices were right but that was about it.' Now, I like large bags too because I seem to be carrying around everything I own so, space is great in those large open bags, but, I love the benefits of smaller ones with small compartments as well because I carry small things like tweezers and stuff that will get lost in a bag that is large. So, I am always in the dilemna of which one to buy! And have never found one that meets both qualities for a decent price. I cannot afford those $300 bags and those seem to be the nicest that have both things I need. Now recently, I came across a store in my area called Marshalls. Its one of those stores that buy brand name leftovers from the high price stores. They have beautiful bags there and they are alot cheaper. They still are a little costly about $75-$100 but I really love the selection,so what I did is I kept my old ragetty one for now and am saving up for one of those nice ones.It may take a little longer and be a little more expensive but, I think it is worth it.I keep my purses for 20 yrs as well so, I will get my moneys worth! Wow, never thought I could talk about purses soo long!lol Good topic! Thanks

I had a disappearing hole purse as well. I had to use it until I got my new one and it was one of those small organizer purses, but not big enough to carry those big nine by eleven envelopes that I sometimes have to have around, and the slots for the cell phone and passport are just clear plastic. It has two slots at the sides but since it rains here in the fall and spring, anything in there will get wet. I want to get a larger one, but they cost a bit. I saw some nice ones at Zellers, but they do not have slots for credit cards. So I guess I will have to get one at Sears or the Bay when they come on sale.

A smaller bag helps me keep from storing a lot of junk, like receipts, which I tend to just throw into a large bag where they live for a long time. And I tend to be lazy about switching out purses, so I very rarely buy a new one. I am thinking about trying to make a purse. There is no way I would spend $100 on one, though! Way out of my price range, so no designer bags for me!

I was looking at the online Bay site and also in our magazines, but they always show them overpriced. I am planning to pay about $50 (that is a one hundred dollar purse that is half off) The ones that are $25 are not that good, they do not hold enough. And I do not want to get a vinyl or plastic bag because they do not last as long.

No. Just buy it! If you like it, then buy it! I have a lot of purses and shoes in my closet that I will never use/wear but whatever. I love designer bags! It's about if you like it or not, not the price of it. Don't buy something that's ugly and you'll never wear even if it's on sale.

First off I doubt I would pay over $30 dollars for any purse if it is over that then I don't need it. I have large, medium, and small purses and I find I use the smaller ones most. I like my fanny pack as well when I go places so it leaves my hands and arms free and I don't have to worry about leaving it or someone getting into it like I did my regular purses.

I have a husband who always wants me to put something in my purse. So too small is out of the question. I like a shoulder bag, and I like a leather purse that will last a while. I had the plastic ones but they did not last. And now with everyone or almost everyone having cell phones, and now we needed passports for id and travel, we need purses that have those two slots in - more stuff to organize things.

i walk with a cane so i wanted to get another bag that has a very long strap but is big enough for all my junk. i had one that i had bought at sears, but alas, during the canadian winter, the magnetic clasp had stopped being well, magnetic. i was in the bay while on my hunt and saw some purses on sale. i ended up getting a kipling that has a plastic clip sort of fastener and it was on sale (they are generally upwards of $60-!) i had never heard of this brand, but it seems that they come from england. anyways, i paid about $30 for mine and that is shockingly high! i usually dont spend more than $20 on a bag.

I got my white purse at Sears, but it was not a shoulder bag, but it did have what I wanted, a section for my cell phone and my passport, and an inside section for my credit cards. It was expensive but I did not pay for it as it was a Christmas present and I used a gift card, but the teflon pans I got with the rest of the card I should have thrown them away. Anyway the black purse I got at Walmart cost $25.00 and it is just a small one. There were no good ones at Zellers then. I figure if I want a really good one, I would have to pay about $50 for it.

I never spend more than $30 on my handbags. I usually wait till the sales are 50-75% before purchasing anything. I know by then most of the good quality bags are gone but somestimes I do get lucky and find one that I like or can fit everything I need in a purse. You know some thrift and or consignment stores sell named brands at really low prices too.

The trouble is the thrift stores sell bags that are a few years old. The new bags now have slots for passports and cell phones, the bags that are on sale at the thrift shops do not have them and usually when they will be, they will have a zipper broken inside and also be stained. I try to get the purse before the cold season starts and I suppose i will have to spend at least one hundred dollars to get a good organizer purse. I am hoping to get one but right now I cannot afford it. If I can find a good leather one that is big enough, is of leather, and is on sale for more than half off, I will get it. Otherwise I will try Zellers or Walmart.

I always have a dificult time even finding a purse and I will keep it until it can not longer be held together. It is the one extra thing that I dread having to get a new handbag. Where I am I can get good deals on handbags. I don't think even my current purse cost over $45 Ainge

I got a purse that was around $50 but then it was a Christmas present (I used a Sears gift card for it). And that was two years ago. It is a summer purse, but now I need a good winter purse in black, that will hold everything and lasts forever.

Finding a new purse is very frustrating for me. The strap broke on the one I like and I bought a new one at Walmart that was close to it but I just couldn't get used to it. I ended up sewing the strap back on the old one. I had one before that that was perfect in every way for me, I got it at a thrift store and I totally wore it out! I usually get my bags at Goodwill, a thrift store that carries used donated items. I never spend more than $10 on a bag, though. Goodwill has some very nice ones and quite a few leather ones, too!

We have Value Village here. I have checked the purses, but right now with people having cell phones, and needing passports for id and travel, the older purses I see at the thrift shops do not have the slots necessary to store them. And I do not think people want to give away two year old purses. I am waiting for a sale and get a one hundred dollar purse for half off. I did get one that was new for less than thirty dollars, but it was too small for the things I carry around so I have to get a more expensive one. I keep them for years anyway.
