Do you like your job?

I mean really? Do you like your job or do you just tolerate what you do? Is it hard for you to get motivated and go everyday? I really do like my job. Oh sure, there are times when I have bad days and times that I get frustrated, but overall I really enjoy what I do. Its not earth shattering, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to perform, but I enjoy it. Do you enjoy whatever it is you do to pay your bills?

I would not go as far as saying that I enjoy working... and that is any work of any kind. To me... work is only a mean to pay the bills and get what I want. That said... what makes working bearable... is that I take a lot of pride in my work. I am a perfectionist... and when people tell me that I have done a wonderful job... I go home with a big smile on my face. That is the only thing which kept me going along the years. I could not possibly do a job which is giving me no satisfaction whatsoever. I am the creative type and I need motivation to get moving. This can come in many forms. At the end of the day... it is actually the people who employ you... which make the difference. Nothing worse than working for some ungrateful person.

You have a very good point. Although, I don't feel the corporation for which I work is grateful to me in any way, the manager of my department often makes it worth our while. I won a coat up to a $500 value the other day for top sales and yesterday won two pair of shoes for my efforts. Its the little perks like that, that can make the job fun and also those customers who go out of their way to let you know that they are happy with your performance.

I know for me i really do like my job. It keeps me busy enough all day to not get bored. with enough downtime to come and hang out here at mylot. I work with a bunch of great women. and my boss is probably one of the most amazing ladies i have ever met. I really do like my job. there are fair when it comes to pay raises, and very understanding when it comes to taking time off. I have been here a little over two years now and unless i found something that is going to pay me a heck of alot more, i think i will stay here for at least another 5 to 6 years. maybe more.

I love my job and enjoy doing it. Over the years I have mastered it and I face no problem in executing my job. It is possible that for few days the pressure of work may be high, but I take it as a challange and try to finish it, as early as possible.

Thats wonderful. Some people master their job, but don't like it any more than the day they started. I am glad you are doing something you enjoy.

Second year in retail and I enjoy it. It's hard work being on your feet all day, but the work itself is nothing to get stressed over unless you run into irate customers. Even though it's only part time and on-call basis, I really look forward to going to work when I'm called in. I like the fact that they rely on me when they need me. It's just a pity I can't work full time yet because of my husband travelling and noone to take care of my son. He is still my #1 priority.

That is awesome news. Wish we got perks like that. I work mainly with fashion jewelry, accessories, handbags and dresses. Mind you they put me everywhere in our dept. store, except for shoes and fine jewelry as they are paid by commission.

I work in retail too. In women's shoes in fact. Yesterday I won a coat up to a $500 value for having the top sales in the department on Saturday. I was really excited, because I've never won anything like that. My job has a lot of great perks and nice customers is one of them.

I would probably like my job if I actually had one. Sadly, I'm only an ESS tutor, so I only get to work like 3 hours a week. It sucks! ~Jesus loves you and I do too~

Well there sure are plenty of times that I have been unemployed. Its hard, I know. And the way the economy is, layoffs are a possibility for everyone. I hope you find something soon.

Thanks! The only place I can find that is hiring teenagers is Wendy's, and I really don't want to work at a fast food restaurant, because food kind of disgusts me. =/

I have worked many jobs outside of the home and I really did like them. The people drove me crazy though, that I worked with. I now work from my home and I love it.

I wish I could work from home sometimes, but I think I might get a bit bored after a time. I like working in the mall. Its a fun environment to be in sometime. Especially, for someone who like me loves to shop, even though I can't afford it. Still its nice to be surrounded by nice things.

As of now, I really enjoy my work. I get to practice my own skill in my work and get to help others get their skills improved as well. I really feel happy that I tried this kind of work. For the pay however, I am not yet sure, since its not that much but, what I really like is the experience that I get while doing this kind of work (^_^ )

I really agree to that (^_^ ) Frankly, money would indeed help out with the daily things that we need but, being able to be proud of what you do is certainly more valuable.

Sometimes I think being able to take pride in your work is almost more important than drawing a paycheck.

It is very comforting to know that people in your position do like your job. I'd hate to be in the hospital and be attended to by someone who didn't like their job.

Yours sounds like a very cool job to have. Don't you ever miss interaction with other people though? As for me, I work for a large department store selling women's shoes. Since I love to shop, retail is fun for me. Not to say, I buy things all the time, because I can't afford it, but I do get perks for good sales. Just this week, I won a coat up to a $500 dollar value and 3 pairs of shoes of my choice. Not bad for one week. Not to mention the nice people I meet. I met a lady a couple of days ago and already we have become friends. She is going to cut and dye my hair on Saturday for free. I am looking forward to getting to know her better. I actually look forward to going most of the time.

I love my job. I'm a writer according to the IRS. I blog for several sites, write here, self-publish poetry books (although I admit that selling my stuff is my least favorite part of my job). I also enter writing contests, write articles, and poems. To be sure, I don't pay all my bills myself (benefits and my parents help me out), but I'm much more independent then I was before the government allowed me to have a job and not lose my life-sustaining disability services in 2008. I expect, however, that I'll grow more and more independent as time goes on. That's the way it goes in all things I've noticed.

I have been with my job for donkey years. Many people envy me. Some look at me with awe. It was not a desk-bound job but project based. It involves interacting with different people all the time. I like my job nature but I am not happy with the job yet I still need the job to maintain my freedom and sanity.

I know that feeling. Although there are plenty of days that I don't feel like getting up and going to work, I can't imagine staying home and doing nothing for any extended length of time. Going to work gives me a feeling of independence that I don't get anywhere else.

i love my job whenever I get more customers... if it is slow, then I feel lazy. Of course, i love my job cuz that's what I do and this is where i get money to support my family. if i count my hours at work, it almost 15 hours a day. I start at 5am - 8pm. I know I know... you will say What???? hehehhe... hey, coffee shop open for service at 4am and I have to stay all day to keep the shop open. I work from sun raise to sun set.

I'm surprised to see so many responses of people saying they love their jobs. I honestly can't say that I love mine. I guess I could say that every day I tolerate what I do. I feel that I don't have much of a choice given the current economic situation, it's gonna be kind of hard to find a new one. I think that what I mostly dislike about my job is the overtime. Too much overtime.

Yes, overtime is grueling. I'm sorry that you don't like your job, but I agree, right now is probably not the best time economically speaking to put yourself out on a limb.
