Miracle Whip... - Miracle Whip...

Recently I had some turkey and what goes better with turkey then Miracle Whip?? When it comes to mayo I’m very picky…it has to be Miracle Whip. The other stuff just doesn’t come close. Even when I’m trying to save money and make things stretch there are some things I won’t compromise on…that ‘s one of them. When I realized I was out, I asked my brother to pick up some. He picked up some off brand that was totally gross. I ended up have to go to the store myself to get actual Miracle Whip and now I have a $4. Jar of off brand goo sitting in my fridge that will probably rot and have to be tossed out. I know it’s wasteful but I don’t see eating it. Hubby won’t even it. So, is there certain things you won’t compromise on? Are you a Miracle Whip fan? ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND TRUST IN GOD**

Actually if you look on the label Miracle whip is a salad dressing, mayo is a totally different item. When I was small everyone considered MW as mayo,MW is made different and is a lot sweeter, mayo is made from egg whites. Just wanted to clarify this little ditty! tdemex

I've never really liked Mayo but I do use it in tuna salad and stuff. Then I buy Kraft fat free with only 10 calories per serving, I save a lot of fat and calories that way. There used to be a jingle "Bring out the Hellman's and bring out the best", your title reminded me of that! I won't compromise on my coffee but it costs only a couple cents more than that swill that Folger's or Maxwell House put out. I also like the Kroger brand of "egg beaters", they're so much better than the name brand and less money, too!

Hubby loves Miracle Whip, but I want real mayonnaise. I am trying to use less of either, but I love anything like tartar sauce or ranch dressing made with either one. Horseradish sauce is good too. If you mix enough stuff into your mystery goo, maybe you would not be able to tell. I agree, you want the best when you put it straight on a sandwich.

Hate to burst our bubble, but Miracle Whip is not real mayonnaise... it's salad dressing and labelled as such. Now, Kraft does make mayonnaise, and labels it as such. Personally, I'd rather have "off brand" mayonnaise than Miracle Whip any day. Miracle Whip is sweet, whereas mayonnaise is salty.

That's true about Miracle Whip, but it's no problem for me. I really don't care for mayo, so would take Miracle Whip any day. The calorie reduced stuff tastes just as good to me.

I'm with ya, Barb. I could tell the difference in a blind taste test, even if it was mixed in a recipe instead of straight. Like raz says, an aftertaste, yuck! Now I know why I have never liked Macaroni salad. It seems it calls for Miracle Whip or Salad Dressing, not Mayo. That explains it!

I'm with you on this one BarBaraPrz. When I was much younger, I absolutely loved Miracle Whip. But, somewhere along the line my taste changed and now it's mayonnaise, or nothing. I usually buy Hellman's, but I'll eat an off brand too, as long as it's mayo. Miracle Whip is just a little too sweet for me now.

Is there a neighbor that might could use the off brand so it won't have to go to waste? I prefer Miracle whip also and did try an off brand before and it was not near as good. Ever so often I will eat mayo with certain things. My husband will only eat mayo but it is so weird he did love the tuna salad my mother would make and it was made with miracle whip.

I think that this is the funniest thing. I wont eat miracle whip so much. I really prefer to have Hellmans. Or even real Mayo. I am not fond of off brands at all. But my aversion comes from my when I was younger and getting miracle whip on my bologna sandwiches without being kept cold.

I am a big Miracle Whip fan. I use it all the time when making tuna, egg or chicken salad. For years we had no choice when I was younger and had to use mayonnaise. It was hard to change to Miracle Whip but once I learned to like it, that was it for me. Sometimes mayonnaise does funny things to my tummy. It's not safe to eat it most of the time.

I am a Miracle Whip fan as well. I understand you just can't have a sandwich with out it! Take the other stuff, and cook with it. There are various recipes that call for it. It will just make foods creamier and you won't even think of mayo!

I have to have Hellman's Light mayo. Someone here bought miracle whip once and I wouldn't touch it. LOL I have to have brand names for some things (eg. Contadina Tomato Paste, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Coca Cola etc) but for other things I actually like the generic brands better. Safeway has a store salsa that is the best in the world.

I like Miracle Whip and I also love Helmann's Olive Oil Mayonnaise. There are some things that I will not compromise on. The same with toilet paper and paper towels. Somethings are not worth it. Like Spaghetti sauce, my husband likes Ragu but I like Hunts. But then I spice up the Ragu so that I like it.

You would make a great commerical! I agree Miracle Whip is it. I would not keep the goop. I would take it back to the store, and tell them that it tastes awful. I am not shy about taking things back. Some stores give you double your money back for certain section of the store. Mayo is on item I do not compromise on.

I prefer Mayonnaise, I think the Miracle Whip is yucky. To vinegar tasting for me. But my hubby prefers it, so even if the wrong one is bought, he will eat it. Just yesterday, I sent him to the store, to buy Montreal Smoked Meat or Pastrami and he came home with Corned Beef instead. He didn't seem to think there was ANY difference, like DUH?!

Corned beef is the most bland of the three. Pastrami has some spices on it, but Montreal Smoked Meat, has the most spices and is just delicious! Yummy!

Well, originally I thought you didn't know the difference either. Then you clarified that you were just teasing. So, I said DOH! Meaning I was an DOH! for not realizing you were kidding, and said thanks for not getting irritated that I didn't realize you were kidding. Boy that was a mouthful. So, I chose to say thanks instead, it was shorter. Actually, yeah, he did realize the difference, a few days later. Amazing, eh? I mighta kept repeating myself though, until it sunk in.

I'm more of a Hellman's fan...but I sure know what your saying. My husband bought an offbrand once to save money. It sat untouched in the refrigerator until it turn various colors. Then I threw it out. It was really terrible, and I even tried using it when breading chicken and pork to bake. It just didn't taste good, and who wants to go through the effort of making something that doesn't taste good? We're ranch dressing fans too, and it has to be Hidden Valley. We've tried and suffered through the competition's varieties, but the just don't compare.

I like Miracle Whip but prefer real Mayonaise. I would use some of the other stuff when making salads, potato, cole slaw, macaroni, stuff like that. Or give the jar to someone. I am usually not real picky with things. I can't afford to be, I am used to store brands and generic brands. Its funny my cats know the difference with their food. When I buy a bag of the name brand cat food, the tear into the bag like they are starving.

I would have returned it, opened or not. I have done this before. I would say, "It is horrible" and if you have the receipt, the store should take it back. I have learned, with my husband, to be VERY specific, because he will otherwise take what he sees first, because it is easier and say, "Oh, they did not have any more of what you wanted," if I complain. So, I say, "if it is not exactly what I want, do not get it." That will come back to haunt me sometimes because if he is not in the mood for searching, even if it is there, I may get nothing. Men!

We can't stand Miracle Whip. It is the one that would be sitting in my refrigerator rotting. We use Bama Mayonnaise, nothing else. But I like mustard on my turkey sandwiches.
