Did I see and hear that right? I was looking at the news and walked out the room. I think I heard that Kansas is suspending its income tax refunds. They don't have the funds. Did I hear that right? Has anyone else heard anything about this? They got to be kidding. I don't live in the state of Kansas, it just that is a very bad situation if that is true.

california is doing it, i got my IOU already. is a shame that they let this happen, but politcians are dumb and we have a horrible govenor, so what can you do. i was watching this show called house of cards and it showed how people just expected this housing boom to go on indefinately, had they planned ahead and put aside some of this money, none of this drama would be happening. my girlfriend owes on her state taxes, so she's not filing yet, no rush to file i you aren't getting your money back..

I live in Kansas, but had not heard that. All I can say is that if they are suspending refunds then they better suspend collections as well.

So far here in Texas everyone is getting their refunds, but am upset and worried about my Mother and Sisters and brother in California since they are the ones getting hurt from this..

I hope they're not doing this -- but they "can" do it if they want. The whole idea behind a tax refund - depending on who you ask (wink, wink) - is that it's an interest-free loan provided by the government to working people who pay taxes. The amount you're loaned depends on what you put in, and things like children are an incentive. Well, this is what I heard someone go on about for 4 hours a few years ago when I was having trouble getting a return. I wasn't interested in the history of taxes, I wanted to know WTF was going on! Anyway... This government or these particular state officials - whoever is behind this - is going to create MILLINOS UPON MILLIONS of tax evaders! This is ultimately going to spiral out of control and more taxes will need to be taken from taxpayers to make up the slack. Ugg! I can't think about this stuff. It's like a nightmare. Give people their refunds!
