I have visited a friend who has lots of stuff inside their refrigerator, even the things that need not to be in there, they still put it squeezing the space. sometimes I do that too? like a bag of flour that is already opened, bread crumbs, pan cake flour.. I am just wondering, do we need to put these things in the refrigerator when it's already open? can we not put it in the pantry or counter? Just curious of what did you do with it and why?

oh!! you have a lot of stuff in your refrigerator!!! Mine is just a few.. hehehe I put my flour and pan cake flour and bread crumbs too. I don't know why I believe what people say, because they said it will help to preserve the stuff if you will not use it for long.

Inside in our refrigerators are just normal stuffs like water, frozen goods, cheese, left over foods, fruits, fruit jams, chocolates, eggs and other dairy products. We don't place flour or bread crumbs inside the ref but sometimes we put the sugar to avoid ants for getting inside the container (the container is not tightly sealed).

Stuff like flour, I put in a container, and keep it on the counter, especially if I've opened it, it helps to keep the bugs out of it, I've never put it in my fridge if its been opened, bread crumbs I keep it in the cabinet, pan cake flour, I try to keep it in some kind of container, anything like that, you need to keep it in a container or it will get bugs. Other things like cornmeal, you can keep it in the freezer, it keeps the bugs out too.

Haha...no you misunderstood me, I keep my flour in a container sitting on my counter, I don't put it in the fridge, if you keep it in an airtight container the bugs won't get in it...

When I in my house ,I will put fruits, milk and drink in my fridge .Because I think iced food more delicious.I just put some I like food in it,I don't like put many things in my fridge that don't need to be there. If I put too many in it ,I need to clean it out also.It would be better to toss them,it doesn't worth cleaning it out everytime~~~

When you open my refrigerator right now, about all you'll see are BONES! There are beef bones, turkey bones, two stake bones, and several bowls full of chicken bones! Because of the awful ice, snow drifts and several feet of snow we've had over the last couple of weeks, I haven't been able to get my big trash can down to the curb, so we are backed up. We have to leave our meat bones in the refrigerator till we can get down to empty our trash because we have 30 cats and if we put the bones in the house trash, the cats will pull them all out and try to eat them and we can not put them in the big outside container because it is filled to almost over flowing! Hopefully all that will change with in the week as the ice and snow is starting to melt!

Honestly, our refrigerator right now is not turn on because i hadn't have a grocery yet. Totally run out but whenever i had my fridge on, i only put stuff that are needed to refrigerate like meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, juices and others stuff that are naturally need to be cool or preserve. I don't put flours or any similar stuff like that. I usually put it on a dry place like pantry or counter like what you said. Well i pretty like to organize stuffs on the kitchen according to its uses.

wow!! that's good!!! putting stuff that is suppose to be there only.. LOL.. but I think like others said, it helps to preserve the item, like the flour when it is not in use for months.. to be put in the ref.

I go through bread crumbs and flour so quickly that there is no need to put it in the fridge and to be honest I have never known anyone to do that. But I can honestly say my other half laughs when I put peanut butter in the fridge. But right now my fridge was just cleaned out. But I just put flour and bread crumbs in a container.

This is a funny discussion. I actually love looking at other people's refrigerators. it can tell you a lot about other people. Anyway, ours has left over food from tonight plus left over pasta from the other day and lots of juice. Of course, all the juice are almost empty cartons because guess what? They're left overs too! Haha!

hahaha you are funny!!! I am glad about the idea of others. I learn a lot from other people of how they keep their food inside and outside of the refrigerator. Me, I am putting my flour inside, I may try putting it out sometime.

I think that if you have a lot of things or of course food in your refrigerator, your consuming a lot of electricity than usual. The more foods there are to preserve the more is your refrigerator using up energy. So I suggest, you just put those dry foods in a container and store it a room temperature cabinet, not only to conserve space but also electricity! =)

You can find lots of bottled water in our refrigerator. There are also ice cubes, vegetables, chocolates and eggs. There is oatmeal, oyster sauce, chocolate candies, noodles, honey, medicines, garlic and onions. There are baby vitamins, other leftover foods and bread spreads. I think we should not put things in refrigerator that can be put in bottle containers or rather jar. It will make our refrigerator's work easier because putting to much on it will make it work harder. Thus, bigger energy consumption and electric bill.

What is inside our ref is mostly fruits like grapes, cucumber, some veggies like zucchini, tomatoes, long gourd, okra. Different bread spreads like peanut butter, cheese spread, mayonnaise. We have tomato ketchup and hersheys chocolate syrup too. Eggs, butter, cheese and lemons. And i do keep my packs of energy drinks in there too, some dried chili packets and some seasonings for pizza. But what i am really laughing for is my retainer which i placed on the side of the ref I also keep a lot of bottles around like water, soda drinks, fruit juices and some pickles made in India where we garnish in every curry food.

The only things that we have in our fridge are the things that need to be there. That is, the things that need to stay cold are in there. We don't have anything in there that doesn't need to be cold. I don't see the point in putting something in there that doesn't need to be cold, or putting something in there that will last a bit longer if you place it in the fridge. Otherwise, it just gets put onto a shelf.

oh well, like the bag of flour when it is open you are not keeping it in the fridge like others do? I have to try it keeping the flour in the pantry as long as it will not stay longer than a month there, it might be fine.

Yes I do put opened bag of flour, cornstarch, bread crumbs and the likes in my ref to keep them fresh. I don't just put them in my counter. I also put my bread inside the ref because breads when not consume within the day easily gets mold even not seen through naked eyes so our pan breads are kept inside the ref and we just toast it when we serve on the table.

Just about anything that is open and I cannot put in a sealed container I will put in the fridge. It stops it from drying out as much and keeps the bugs out. If I put flour I will get bugs. I do have some containers for dry stuff but they seal. My sister in law keeps her flour in the freezer. I hear that you can keep rice better in the freezer first as it kills all the weevil eggs if there are any in them. Otherwise they can hatch and ruin your rice or other grains. I keep bread in the fridge as I get it on special sometimes and I want it to last longer. Even with the preservative chemicals bread will go moldy before I can use it up. I also freeze bread, for example now it is on sale for a 1$ a loaf which is a good price. I have my freezer full of bread and hopefully it will a couple of months before I use it all up. Bread keeps this way for a few months.

At any given time, I have like NOTHING in my fridge - maybe some bread and soy milk and a couple heads of lettuce. I usually try to only refrigerate things that actually need to be kept in the fridge - like open things of ketchup, pickles, and so on. I've never heard of refrigerating flour, though.
