There are times that when are accomplishing tasks we want to do it on our own especially when you are in a team. The reason may be we want to bring out the best on it and we are not sure if the people in our team would have that same motivation as what we have. Its like we dont have trust to our co team member if he or she will make things as what you expected him or her to do. So do you prefer to work alone even if you work on team!?

Thanks for the response. Those people who screwed you up are irresponsible people. Better to choose trusted people if you wish that someone could help you!

A team effort has to have a certain level of co-ordination even if it means you do your part of job as per your convenience but it must fit into the place assigned to it in the team work otherwise your effort will simply go down the drain and will ultimately lead to frustration. You can not accomplish a team job on the standalone basis whatever your likes or dislikes may be.

Yeah! And thats what real team leaders do! Yet, it all lies on the team to the skills and attitude of the team leader on how to control his or her resources. Thanks for the response!

I guess the best thing to do in a team is planning. We can get suggestions from everyone and talk about them. Let the majority decide. But if we see that no one will cooperate with the task, you can suggest though that you can do the task alone. Better let the team know what are your plans than letting everyone do the same task and waste some power and effort and money in the end. I can say that I am also a do-it-yourself person, but within a team, the whole team should not be blind with whatever we wish to accomplish...

Lol! You know what, doing things for others is sometimes my extra work! I do them some certain things in exchange of something. Oh! Its not always for money! Lol!

Hi lockheart, i will work alone if i am good at, even in the team. Without queation that some people in the team doing things inefficient. So working with some inefficient people not so much as doing it myself.

Thanks for your response. Sometimes when you see your team members capabilities are not sufficient enough to make a work done, you will try to save your group just working on your own, coz you think you can do better when you do it alone rather than doing it with them.

I prefer to go the team's opinion always, bcoz everybody wont be right always. I share my ideas with the team and we plan for collective answwer for the question with discussing lik wht we do in mylot. WE choose the best one from the team and carry on our work based on tht idea.

Theres no question to sharing of ideas within a group! Two heads are better than one. But the conflicts began on dividing the labors. Especially when others want to have or to choose the labor they want to do but not everybody could have it. Thanks for the response!

wht u said right ? dont u think that team work builds up more information , ideas and fastness in work.

yes, i do.but as someone has said in this discussion, always the tasks we are facing is too huge and they would be finished with a better result if they are processed by a team but not only a person, the power of one person always seems limited.we always need to cooperate with other teammates, the situation you describe exists sometimes, and we had to avoid this as possible as we can to improve the efficiency of the whole team. If one thing can finish by one person i would do it by myself, and i would like to communicate with other people about how the thing like this can be done in order to get some good advices or methods which i have omitted.

yeah right.. you can accomplish a task more faster than when you are doing things on your own. and the worst thing i didnt like in working on my own is that i sacrifice lots of time. instead that i am relaxing and doing nothing, i am always in a pressure doing things i need to do. thanks for your response.

Yes sometimes I like to do things on my own so I know who to blame if something turns out unwell. I also think that sometimes a job gets done easily if you do it on your own because you are more focused and well concentrated to that task.

Well, my opinion about it is that group work can bring faster results though we can never be sure for the quality. As to ideas, two heads are better than one. But it will be done depending on what attitude did the team members would show to accomplish the task. Thanks for the response.

If I am part of a team, I will work as a team. Being a team player often means taking up the slack for the weakest link though, and I will often step in to help as much as possible. Now, if I am doing something that does not require a team effort, yes, I wouldrather do it by myself to make sure it is done. Sometimes, we just cannot rely onothers to do things.

Yes! If you work in a team, then you work for the team. If you work for yourself then do it alone. As much as possible. Because there are circumstances that you cant apply doing things alone in a team and vice versa. Thanks for the response!

thanks for the response. yes, you are right. sometimes when i am in a group working on something. other thinks that i am spoiling my other group members cause they are doing nothing. well, if they want to help me then do it with their initiation. i would never waste my time on them scolding them or tell them what they need to do.

I think i would not be at ease working in a group since i have been used of working alone and this is what my work is. Being in the academe to teach is that you strive hard to learn things on your own, of course you can ask friends for book reference and information, but you work alone as the best option. I also work in the office where i am an account officer. Never did i get interfered by an office mate who would be like asking me for the things i do at work or what are the things i do at work that they can adopt. If i were to change my career path and lets say i happened to be working with a group of individuals to make up as a team, then i had to adjust a lot and learn from this kind of environment. Because the only thing that is constant is change, and that is for sure, we better be flexible.

that's tough! if you are already use to work alone its hard for you to adjust in a group environment. the most worst of it is that you may encounter confrontations and arguments with other people. we can't avoid to work on a group, there would be sometimes that even though we want to work on our own we have no choice than to follow what is being said by the given authority.

You know ,sometimes ,we must have ourselves in a team, that's what we called "teamwork",but,we still want do something individually.of course, there is only a boss in a team,so ,if you are not him,you have to choose between his way or highway. Not only the boss ,but your companionas too.and you know what,it's a sad thing after you followed others'way of doing things,it turn out to be totally wrong.but it's ok,because everyone knows that was not your idear,so you are not the one who was blamed.at this moment ,what you ned to do is comparing your tow ways of doing things, and make sure you wouldn't make the same mistake as your boss or companions did.

"his way or highway"?! Lol! Your points are right. For whatever reason it will be, there someone to blame and there someone who will blame. But those things will happen if your team failed to complete a task! Therefore, if you will choose to work in a team then i think, the team must have what you called teamwork. Thanks for the response!

Usually I prefer to work alone but I have observed that when I work in a team then enthusiasm is infectious, and if you take initiative others come forward to give a helping hand and work is finished quickly as compared to solo work. So I can work in a team as well as alone.

i never refuses to accept if there were people who will lend me their helping hand to help me. i am very grateful if i would hear it from them. coz i know they are interested and i dont want to be selfish even though i know in myself that i just can do it on my own. i still believe that working as a team is still a great feeling especially when everybody is involve and interested.

When we want to get the work done perfectly, we got to do it ourselves, of course there is no wrong in taking others advise, but before implementing it carefull review is a must, in order to not to regret later.

Right! The advantage of doing things on your own is in your success and the disadvantage of it is on your failure. The nature of human is very predictable. If you are 10 in your team, even though you have their advice, there will be one person that will blame you. And the worst he or she might influence others.

As much as possible i want to do things alone. I don't want to be in a group. If i have to, then i do things their way. I hate arguments and i don't want then to take the blame on me when i step up. That's the reason i want to work alone and on my own way without anybody batting an eyelash. I had this bad experience during college when we're preparing our thesis. I took all the blame and my groupmates were creating black propaganda against me. I almost want to quit and start all over again alone.

i am same as you are, i always want to do things on my own even if it is a group work. There are times that when i just give the work away from my team mates they will just ignored it and never do anything about it. its like my expectation never reach or i am not satisfied with their work. i was thinking that if i am the one who made that then maybe its more better than anyone else could do. but as of now, i didnt receive any blames on me whenever i work on a group assignment alone. maybe i satisfied them and the important thing there is a also satisfied myself, If there are times that i know i cant make it i search for help but not to the point i will just let the work out of my hands.

I never try to work alone becuase I will be pretty happy to work in a team not as a single guy.Because when we work in a team, we can gain a lot of information from our friends. We can gain the characters of responsibility, adjusting, finishing work in time and what ever we want to share and enjoy. The best example I can give for this is the bulletin that we publish in our college and I am one of the team members too.We always gather in a team and we diacuss and share the works to be done between us.I am the leader of our crew. I like to coordinate with my friends in a right way and others members even if they not doing well I try to make them perform well. Happy myloting

I have no problem working in a team as long as i am in sync with the people i am working with. but i do have times when i want to do some tasks on my own, especially if the people i am working with are not participating or doing his/her part of work. or if that person is just the type of person who takes all the credit after all your hard work

I experienced that! I work hard for a team but then somebody is taking the credit when actually she didnt do anything at all. I never protest for that since the outcome is not so good and i just take the job when it was already deadline coz our leader seems not interested at all. But co team members refuse! They insist that i must be the one to be recognized and not anybody else.
