Do You Leave the Dinner Dishes For the Morning?

I had seven hungry teenage boys last night and successfully fed them all. It was late and I was really tired. I wanted to do the dishes but it just didn't seem worth it so I left them in the sink and on the counter . . . which does bug me sometimes. But I ignored them and went to bed. Can you stand to leave the dinner dishes out all night and do them in the morning? Gtargirl needs to know.

Yes, I can especially if I am tired. I will put them in th sink mostly and add a little water so that it can be soaking and I head to bed with no regrets. I have done this often my husband hates it..But I told him that he could do them then and it usually quiets him right down since he refuses to do a dish unless I am off visiting someone for a few weeks then he will use foam plates and only do a few dishes.

I can't complain much...he does help out with the rest of the house pretty good even sweeps, mops, dust, and even does laundry..but no dishes..but I guess he does help out a lot in the other areas enough so I can't really complain.

hello gtargirl oh my gosh! i do good in feeding two hungry boy like that every night. but i know what that you mean when you say that it was late and you didn't feel like doing the dirty dishes like that. when i cook dinner for my family and myself, i usually try to keep the dishes caught up as i am cooking. then after we all get finished eating, i like to do the dishes and put any leftover's that there might be away and start the dishwasher. i have good pots and pans that i do not put in the dishwasher, so if i happen to use them while cooking dinner, then i have to wash those by hand. but some nights after dinner, usually when we all eat at a different time or something like that, the dishes do not get done until the next morning. sometimes in the evenings, my hubby isn't home due to working and if we have all eaten except for him, i will make him a plate and then i will put all of the rest of the food away and clean up the kitchen. so most of the time before that i go to bed for the night, my dishes are cleaned up and there is usually nothing in the kitchen sink when that i retire for the night. and i have also found that right after you cook something, the dishes are lots easier to get clean, insteading of letting them lay around the kitchen dirty like that. take care and have a beautiful day today!

Oh, I did put the leftovers away. Thanks goodness I had enough energy for that. And you're right, dishes are totally easier to wash when they are freshly dirty. Thanks TnWoman, you have a beautiful day too.

Somehow there are always dishes at my house, even when only one or two of us are eating.I do dishes lots of mornings, and hubby does dishes in the afternoon sometimes. It bugs me, but not enough to lose sleep over. It must have been fun to feed those hungry mouths.

At least your hubby helps out. That's always nice. Yeah, I'm still feeding them but I got wise and just making big pots of stew, little bread and butter and we're good to go.

I'm a stay at home mom but my hubby gets home later in the evening somethimes and I used to leave them until morning when I could do them all at once. Although I've gotten tired of doing that, now I do dishes right after supper so the kitchen is clean for a while (until he get home). But I usually only do dishes once a day. It's just a fact at our house that the sink has to have at least one dirty dish or spoon in it. I don't like it, but that's just life. I have more things to do than keep up with the dishes.

I'm with you, my friend. It seems we could be doing dishes all day otherwise.

It's okey as long as there are no cockroaches going over the plates and feast on the left overs, heheh! i do keep my dishes at night and wash them in the morning because my hubby does not want me to wash it so that we would start to watch together. I don't like to leave dirty dishes in the sink of course, i am not a lazy person , but i do want the time to be with hubby and watch since it is the time where we bond since his work is at night, we do eat early morning, and then watch a little and then go to bed and sleep. So i guess i don't have a problem keeping the plates unwashed at that time since hubby says so, hehehe! and besides i don't have other things to attend to but to him so i better choose hubby than the plates.

Uww, don't much like cockroaches . . . I would do the dishes right away too if those little yucky things start crawling around. We don't seem to have them in the desert. A few scorpions now and again.

Not always, but sometimes I do and yes, I can stand to leave them there and go to sleep like a baby LOL I just have to be tired enough. However when I have a big bunch of my kids friends here to be fed - which I do often enough - I made a new rule: after finishing they either rinse their plates and put them in the dishwasher or wash them themselves. I had to make this rule because I would always have kids coming over and sometimes not only they would eat my food, but also bring take out as well. I have 2 teenagers with millions of friends and they all seem to like my snacks and cooking, so it was becoming a bit too much. So far most of them have complied and did a good job. I always wash things as I cook, so they don't have anything else but their plates and cutlery to take care of. They still coming, so I guess they don't mind :)

Yes, sometimes. It happened when we eat dinner late and everyone is tired to wash the dishes. For real, we are controlling or avoiding to leave unwashed dishes but due to some circumstance we can't LOL. Actually it is not proper to leave the dishes as some pest wil visit it within the night and we can get some disease from it.

I always leave them at least until the next morning. I have too many other things to do at night than dishes. Because we have three sets of dishes (for two of us), so I can actually go a day or two between washing them.

yes i leave them till morning. i will be lazy after dinner to clean all those dishes. as i have to clean by hands ,i will be lazy in cleaning them. as i am housewife ,i will have too much time in morning ,i can clean in mornings .so i will clean in mornings only . sometimes when i think i have too much work ,i will clean it in night only .

When I was younger and feeding my 4 kids meals, I hated doing the dishes and had no dishwasher either...THen (bless the dollar store!)...paper plates and styrofoam cups found their way into my home..WHat a blessing..eat off the dishes and throw them out!!..Now that was my kind of cleaning! After a long day at work, and preparing supper for 6 of us, I did not always feel like doing the dishes. But I think worse, I hate to wake up in the morning and see them still there They are harder to clean also once the food has set in. Now I have a dishwasher and only the two of us home. DIshes get rinsed immediately and put in the dishwasher. Out of sight, out of mind!..I add soap and turn on the button...and all done!!..Now for the pots and pans that cant be washed in the dishwasher..well...If they sit in the sink any longer than half an hour..Hubby is over at the sink washing them!!..God bless my hubby, the dishwasher and paper plates!!

Yeah, I'm gonna need me one of those good hubbies. Sigh . . . one day, perhaps. I actually do have a dishwasher, but for some reason I never use it. If this keeps up (feeding 7 or more teenagers) I will have to make good use of that thing. Ah, thanks Sandy for stopping by. Have an awesome week, my friend.

I try not to leave them but in cases like yours, I would have just left them as well. My husband works odd shifts being gone from 6 am til 9 pm or sometimes later, so after he get's home and eats, it's time for bed and I just don't wanna do his dishes so I usually leave them for in the morning and just wash them with my breakfast dishes.

You are a brave soul..lol I can and have left dirty dinner dishes in the sink overnight. I won't leave them on the counter. Depends on how full the dishwasher is and if I am too lazy to empty the clean dishes and load the dirty dishes. I do rinse them and run the garbage disposal. Also depends on if it's an American Idol night and it's close to the program time. I have my priorities in order..lol

Hi, gtargirl, I do that most of the time especially when I am really tired. I do feel bad seeing the dirty dishes in the sink but I wouldn't want to wash it half clean. It is not actually good to leave the dishes and wash it in the morning. If we do that often enough, it will attract the cockroaches or even the mouse.

Sometimes I do them and sometimes I don't, it depends on how tired I am..But then again it is only my husband, 6 y/o and myself now, so we don't make too many..

i try not to leave dishes in the sink overnight to prevent cockroaches to feed on them. i hate cockroaches. no matter how many times i spray, they easily multiply. so i want to clean the sink every night. i just hate it when my housemates leave their dishes on the sink. sometimes when im in the mood i will wash it.it annoys me if they leave their dishes on the sink
