Spamalot

I receive a zillion spam messages a day from heaven only knows where. But occasionally, a message that I actually want creeps into my spam account. Trouble is, I rarely check to see if one is there before I bin the lot. Do you find messages that you want in with your spam mail?

NOt very often p1ke but it has happened occasionally! I now try to have a quick glance before doing a mass extermination of the spam file! Some sneaky emails do manage to hide themselves in there though! Grrrr I HATE Spam! xxx

That's how I deal with it too Mummymo. It's very irritating, but not half as annoying as the spam itself.

I don't have that problem. I have yet to find something that I actually want in my junk mail. My e-mail is just pretty darned good at filtering and sorting for me.

You e mails come through fine. But I have found ones from Canada especially seem to go the spam box.

I always have to check my spam mail because like you say they are always something or another finding it's way in there by mistake. So I check it just to be on the safe side and if you check it every 50 or so messages it isn't so overwhelming to check. I don't know why it happens it just does. I guess the same way the spam finds it's way into our mail still.

My sister in law doesn't check her spam mail, unless she is waiting for a confirmation email that went to spam otherwise she deletes without looking at it.

That's what I do Riyasam. I don't know what is larger than a zillion. There's several larger figures: bazillion, trazillion, quadzillion, Quizillion? Isn't the internet wonderful? LOL.

Yes, that does happen for me also. I have learned to scan through the messages first. Then move whatever does not belong in the junk/spam list to where it belongs. And then I delete the remainder.

My problem is that I don't bother scanning and it's usually pure chance that I find a message that I want to read.

If I could send you an E mail that would be wonderful Sue. But I can't! No address. However, if we got together we could start an extremely powerful and wealthy company with all the money that we clearly are due, but have yet to take up!

Yes, I do receive messages I want in my spam box. I used to have my preferences set so that they deleted them without me ever seeing them, but then when I was waiting on replies and didn't receive them had a look in my spam box and found them there. So now, I sift through my spam to make sure nothing has gone wayward and often find things that shouldn't be there. It can be a pain in the patootie to have to do this, but then again you never know what interesting things you might find.

Not any more. I use Boxbe and they filter my emails based on my approval. Now my spam is down to less than 30 a day over the hundreds I used to get.

Never heard of them but I shall go an look. I get zillions of spam. If I weren't in so much debt (that I can be helped with) I could afford to be more "manly" and then get on with making the $10,000 a day that "I was a loser and now look at me" earns from just 30 minutes work!!

Strangely enough, my Best Responses go in my spam folder! Maybe the little lad in the machine who sorts out the spam thinks it's so laughable I'd ever have a best response he bins it! (The wee doubting b@stard ...)

I will have at least two a day that end up in my spam folder. I will sort by subject, and then check the first page before I empty my spam folder. If someone sends me something important with a subject begins with something greater than "M", it gets dumped.

LOL. I sometimes look down the most recent page. Everything else heads for file 13!

Hehe. I thought this was in regard to the actual Spamalot musical. It was here for a time but we missed seeing it due to sitter problems. Anyhow, I do get lots of spam from time to time. I have a nice junk mail thing though so I never have to look at it. I can just push delete all.

By all accounts you didn't miss much Anora. It's still playing in London, but I don't know anyone that's ben to see it. It must depend on tourists. My worry is that I bin legitimate mail with my spam - I rarely look to see though.

I've a few things marked spam, such as all of the notifications I get from Mylot, but I've not had any legitimate mail hit the junk mail bin. Maybe it is in your settings or something? Anora

I never check my spam mail, there's just way too much stuff in it that I'd never find something that was a REAL e-mail even if I looked. I'm sure real e-mail has gone in there...
@p1kef1sh (45681)
7 Mar 09
Same as me. I guess that if it is very important they'll send again.

Hi p1ke, I used to receive a lot more spam than I have of late. Maybe it's because my 'old' e-mail provider no longer works for me, and my new one screens the messages better. This said, I still prefer my old provider. Finally, yes, I have to make sure I check everything before hitting the delete button. I've found some really important messages mixed in with 'this junk' many times. Take care. Hugs

I wish that I was as particular. I do check sometimes, but not as often as I probably should. The I delete something important - or interesting anyway.

Well, yes, once in a while.... :) I do find quite a few useful messages in the spam folder. I just check the spam of my work email id though. Cheers and happy Mylotting

I have had messages creep into my spam before but the thing is when I get hundreds a day it is a time wasting chore to go through them all and check them so I do not bother anymore! I just delete the whole lot now.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
7 Mar 09
That's exactly my problem. I do the same and no doubt chuck out good messages with the bad Gemini.
7 Mar 09
Snap! I do more or less the same. Also get many messages from MyLot, while not spam, are tricky to keep up with. Most I delete without reading, but when I have a bit of time, there are always a few current ones to respond too! What does get a little tedious, sometimes, is all the make more money messages! Unfortunately this does show how hard up some people must be, because if you worked out the hourly rate of responding to most of these websites, it would be very low, I think! Fortunately (!) there are more interesting discussions, from people such as yourself, which keep me coming back to MyLot!
@p1kef1sh (45681)
7 Mar 09
Thank you. I don't get anything from myLot except notifications about responses to my own discussions - I don't regard those as spam (often! LOL). All those make money ones go straight in the bin. If I really could be making £500 and hour would I not be out there doing it rather than sitting here? LOL.

I use Spamfighter and check the folder at least twice a day, often more than that. If it's left longer it becomes an enormous chore. All my myLot notifications end up in there because I blacked one by mistake one day and haven't yet worked out how to reverse it. Silly me.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
7 Mar 09
Oh dear. I don't know how you resolve that at all. Maybe you have to tell the e mail account to accept myLot mails. Good luck.
