I have been watching my star rating these days and it is kinda making a fun out of nothing. Seven days ago it was at 84/100. Next day it went upto 86/100( Had a red star with me! Yieppe) Next day it was down to 85/100(8 Star now) No chance for the next day (but the star is 9 again) For Next two days it was stopped at 86/100( 9 star! Relief) Now today it is again at 85/100(8 star again). It is kinda fun that what my stars would to the next day! Any guess, will I be able to gain 9 star again? I am watching it every day. Do you also watch it? How concerned you are for your stars?

At least you are not loosing it and that's a good news but be patient and you will get to 10 star soon! How long it has been? I know it has been a while but it can't be an year or so, right?

I am not a bit concerned about my own but I am concerned about those of my friends. I see what is happening to yours too - weird. Mine gets bashed when I tell people off for doing things they shouldn't but I'm used to it now

I can bet that tomorrow it will go down to 8 once again. Reason being is that today I didn't see any more person responding to my discussion which will mean I will get less + rating which will result in drop in my stars I hope this discusion is not against mylot TOI!

I'm not as concerned as I used to be sanuanu . Sure, having a 10 star is nice, but it isn't everything. What would be even better is if everyone would be respectful to one another on here, even when they disagree. Because there should never be any reason to get disrespectful here on mylot.

That might be true when it comes to the new users, but some of the seasoned veterans might disagree with that. Just because someone has a higher star doesn't necessarily mean they will get respect. In fact, they might just get the opposite. Some of the old timers know what it takes to obtain a high ranking on here and that usually means avoiding heated discussions, which they just aren't willing to do. In fact some of them thrive for this kind of discussion! LOL Personally I'd rather avoid it because it just isn't my sort of thing. But even if someone has a low star doesn't mean their postings aren't quality, because they just might be.

10 star means that we will be respected by other mylot user automatically. Like I respect all of them who has this number with their user name. I can see the quality of a discussion when 10 star people are talking to each other. You can just feel in love with those discussions. They talk that deep that you would not resist you from reading the whole chain of comments!

Well said and I have that experience with me that once you start participoting hot discussions, you are bound to loose stars. I am not saying the people with low stars get hated among ourselve but just 10 star adds to the respect! till date I have seen 2 people having low star but the quality they provide is among the best!

Yes LOL but it is worth giving a look to your star rating every day. As for me it is a fun, which used to be a frustrating thing most of the time! I think tomorrow it will go down to 8 again as I can't see any more responses to my discussion, which means I will get less + rating resulting in decrease in my stars. I think I would make a graph of it and will post it here.

I think that with experience people learn when I was at (387) then my star rating was something around 76/100 and then I realized that I should increase the quality and with the help of my friends, I could do that. now, i am at 9 and hoping to keep this rate as long as possible!

Hi sanuanu. I may seem very dumb, but can you please tell me where to locate ones star rating. Where did you get all those figures from 84/100, 86/100 etc: is it displayed on ones profile? i am just not aware of it. I have never really bothered about it, but wondered what had happened for it to drop from 9 to 8..

Another one complaining about the star system. You won't believe when it all got started 3 years ago, then most of the people were only doing - rating for those who had 10 against their name. There was complains about it that people loosing their star rating over night. I have seen one user droped to 7 from 10 over night! Those were people who couldn't see people going up from them. Now things are normal I can hardly see that thing happening again. People here are now more matured than before!

Well I am not much bothered really simply coz there is nothing I can do about it apart from being more involved here in mylot, I guess! Well I cant really devote more time here than I am doing at present, so why bother? I reached 10 long long time back, then I dropped to 9 (I don’t know why) and been a 9 ever since I can remember. I neither go up nor do I go down.

After spending a long time, it is very difficult to increase your star rating. I am at 1300+ and now I am seeing my advancement a little less compared to when I was at 300+. So, it would take hard work to get to 10 star one more time from you.

You really pay attention to your star and I hope you will have a good fame here. On the contrary, I don't pay attention to my star. Sometimes it is red and sometimes it is blue. It's no problem for me. Some people may be mean and they rate people's posts negative on purpose. This is why I don't think the star can tell much about us. I love China

It was the tendency of people, rating other negative intentioanlly, 3 years ago when mylot started its star rating facility to its users. Now, I can hardly see any bunch of people doing it on purpose. That time people hardly knew how to gain stars so, they were just spending time rating negative! Now, every one is concerned about her/his star rating so, they hardly rate negative these days. It might be new users who tends to do it. That is why I am saying that mylot should restrict people from rating until they reach 200 post. So, that they can understand things on mylot before they can start rating.

I haven't really been paying attention to my star at all, I've stopped worrying about it really, and just started concentrating on earning. I know that there's a few people who really could care less if they have the star or not but I think that's because their star is getting bashed. We really should be careful how we rate and not rate because we don't like the person. The only time I rate negatively is when they go against guidelines, and even then I might still rate positively. I guess it depends on whether I've corrected a lot of people's mistakes that day or not... then again I don't worry about those discussions so much anymore, I'll rate and then report most of the time for those! Just being fair!

How do you check your star rating? I just can't seem to find the page? and am wondering if the star affects our payment or our registration to the site. Do we get kicked out if our star rating drops to 0? How can I improve my rating?

Thanks mariposaman for explaining the fact to berrys. I do believe that if our star rating is below 7 then it does affect our earnings a little. Better star can bring you more money and please follow the rules which were explained by mariposaman to get to higher ranks!

Just hover your cursor over your star. A tool tip field will appear with your rating out of 100. For example yours is 46/100. Some people say it does not affect your rating but I thougt I read somewhere in the site that it did. You can improve your rating by being inoffensive, nice to everyone , and stay away from the religion and politics sections of myLot. If you are opinionated and post controversial subjects you will be punished by the people who you disagree with by a negative rating. It should not be that way but it is.

I started off with about a 6 star which was insulting because I gave quality in depth posts. I seem to have slowly raised up to a red star. I havebeen chosen myLot best response a number of times. I cannot worry about it because I have no control over the star and have no idea how it seems to float up and down.

Directly you can't have control on your stars but you can have a control by doing + ratings all the time and being friendly with your friends here on mylot. I have noticed that people can't take negative criticism on their posts, so I learned that leaving those post will be a good idea if we want to earn more star rating.

Yes! You need to post 100 response before you can get a star with your user name. You get more star from the quality of your posts. More quality more chances of getting good reputation for you. Keep the good work going and in no time you will have stars with your name!

It may take me ages to reach for that prestigious star. It is only an accessory or a decorative item which is of course a pride to have one. Great you have one and since I am starless I a have yet to feel the greatness of having one.

You are 63 posts away from the stars. You can get it once you will reach 100. Well, 3 years ago when they started this thing here then I got my star rating at 9 and I was so happy that once it went near to 10 star also but I couldn't reach that in my mylot life.

My friend, I stopped looking at it quite some time ago. It was just too frustrating. It goes up and down for no reason I can figure, and then it stays the same for a long time before it starts to flutter again. I don't get it, and I gave up trying to figure it out.

Yes, I could see 10 star against you and one day it was on 8 too. Now 9 star rating is against you. Keep the good work and you will get 10 star soon. According to my speculations, people get their ratings based on the number of + rating they get every day. I think for getting 9 stars one needs to get a certain number of + in a day or a week! If we remain inactive then our star rating drops. Thi is only my speculation!

Star rating changes as the reader of your discussion rating. I was reached to a rating of 83 and reduced to 55. Now i am at around 68. I feel that there is nothing to do with star rating. Still star rating indicates the activeness and the quality of our post ideally. End of the day we will check only earning not the rating.

In early days, the star rating remains volatile as mylot works on average of rating you receive. One + or one - rating can affect you more in your early days but once you settle down after 500+ then you will have less effect of one + or one -. You can earn more stars at your begining easily but after 500 post, it would be difficult as I am struggling to even keep my 9 star rating alive!

I do like my little star and I want to keep it right where it's at. When I first got my star I worked very hard to try and get it up to a 10, and I want to keep it there. However, I must acknowledge the fact that besides posting what I think are quality responses to discussions, there's not a whole lot of control I have over what my little star does. It's up to other friendly myloters to rate my responses. But I really do like my little blue 10.

Yes the little 10 looks cool with your avtar. Keep the avtar and the 10 star with you. I am trying hard to eve maintain my 9 stars with me. I think It is now impossible for me to get to 10 now. I have to contain my self for 9 star only. The older you are the harder you can get to next level of star!

You are at 92 and after 8 posts you would have the liberty of having a star beside your user name. It would not have any effect on your star rating but it is good to have high number in your star rating as it can give you respect from other mylotians here. As I respect all of them having 10 stars beside their user name!

You are now reaching your 100 rating and the next time when you log in, you will see a star beside your user name. I hope you would start with a red color. This is reputation mark with you. Higher the number higher the reputation you would gain my friend!
