Has someone online ever asked you to send your pic?

Someone i know really well has. But no matter how i look at it, i've never shared or uploaded my picture before online - and for some reason, i'm totally against it, even if i knew this person for over an year. We're at opposite corners of the world, and have never net anywhere but in forums and the chat servers. I never used the messengers before, and chat stuff is still only 10 months old to me - he's the one who introduced it to me as well. Is it normal to ask for a picture of your online friend? If you were him, would you have got offended after dodging the request over and over again?

When I first started going online and sarted chatting with msn some people used to ask for a picture. I was new to the internet in 1998 and didn't have any pictures online or in a profile for email. I don't keep pictures on my computer but I have them stored on an external hard drive and I don't like having my picture taken and avoid a camera as much as I can. I am very uncomfortable in front of a camera.I wouldn't be offended by someone asking repeatedly for a picture, I just let any person how I feel about having my picture taking.

That is 100% how i feel. Its true i have some shots somewhere in the PC but not all that many as im camera-shy, mainly because i usually am the person behind the camera taking the pics. That aside, having it take is so bad, i'll like to lose it quickly, and having to upload it is impossible for me. I'm afraid im in the same predicament you were in. Thanks for sharing - it was really helpful. Happy mylotting.

Yes I have faced this. Quite a few people on internet have asked my for my photo. I have only given it to one. I think, there is no harm in asking as long as your intentions are right. And you get to know a person after awhile, in most cases.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, if the intention feels right, there could be no harm. It may deepen friendship... Happy mylotting.

Hi, cambiste! I have been asked to submit my photo online. But, I have never done so. I am wary about displaying any kinds of photos of me over the Internet. I don't know all about that. It is not unnormal to ask for a pic. But, you have to really know this person to ask for a picture. If they are okay with it, then ask them. If not, then don't do so..

Thanks for the advice. I'll follow that. I feel the same way about uploading my pic online - even if its just sending it by mail. Happy mylotting.

Funny thing is, i am the one who's asking for photos. I ask kindly though and i'm just glad friends are kind enough to send their photos to me. I would do the same if someone is going to ask for my photos. I think it's a good way to know eachother better though looks doesn't really matter between friends.

Thanks for replying. I'm not trying to edge my way out, but isnt there some other way to solve this? I imagine he must be feeling suspicious, or even offended, but somehow, its impossible for me to upload a pic - i dont have the confidence.. like that. btw, did you notice that your username and activity count: user_786 (787) are only a point behind the other? Happy mylotting and thanks for the tip.

Oh boy, yesss over a thousand times when i was a single lady and was active on chatting and when i don't have a cam, mostly all of your chat mates would say let me see your pic or send me your pic. If the guy does not send his picture first and then ask me for a pic, i will send them a picture, but not my picture but an artist here in my country. does he think he can outsmart me? but I'm on a playful mode that time. But when a guy send me his picture and if i sense that this is really his picture, then i will tell him, ok, i will send you my picture, but the picture i will send him is a group picture, and he will guess which of the girls in the picture is me . And he will do a guessing game now, thinking if he really chose me as his first choice, then that's the time i can trick him more. Happy Mylotting!

I have uploaded my picture on a website once, and I did it because I had been chatting with as group of people and as we were going to meet in real life, we had to know what the other persons looked like in order to find eachother. Aside from that I have never uploaded my picture on a site and I don't intend to do it, either. When I have chatted with or exchanged emails with an online friend, we sometimes exchage pictures. I lost my photos when my old computer broke down, so I can't send out a picture of myself at the moment, but I have done it in the past, and I don't mind doing it. I like to see the other person's picture, and I think that it would seem kind of strange if I refused to show them mine.
