How many of you mylotters have a special movie that means something to you? I'm talking about that movie that's not really that great, but more goes on the memory. Like it didn't matter what was going on on the big screen, or the tv set, but more on what you were doing during the movie, or who you were with at that time you first saw that movie? A movie that everytime you run across it on the tv it brings those memories back to you. Some memories maybe bad, some good.

This just happened a few days ago. I went to my brother's house and left my boyfriend at home. When I came back my boyfriend is watching a news about people missing in Wyoming and possible alien abduction. I was wondering why it is in Cinemax but thought that this might be an emergency. The government and scientists are fighting in the news. I've went back to my brother's house and told him about that. He tried to look for the news in the internet but found nothing, he said it might be a media blackout. I went back home and the news is getting scarier, it seems that three asteroids are going to fall in three major cities in the world (Beijing, Moscow and Washington D.C.). One scientist claimed that we have announce a war against the aliens. While watching I've got online and thought of looking at the cable shows listing, then I've found out that what we are watching is actually a movie entitled "Without Warning". Really funny and embarrassing experience at the same time. Early April fools for us ... LOL ... =)

My boyfriend thought that it is real. He just happened to switch on that channel and he wasn't able to watch the beginning so he thought it is really the evening news too ... LOL ... He actually informed immediately some of his friends about it hehe.

Yes, Little Shop of Horrors. That came out when my husband and I were still dating. We did not really know what we were walking in to. We didn't realize it was a musical we were kind of expecting a horror film where a man eating plant eats people. We didn't realize it was a comedy/musical, we also came in late which did not help matters, we just saw everyone acting goofy and singing. We almost walked out. Then we heard other people laughing and realized it was a comedy and not just a lot of bad over acting. We ended up really liking the movie. We would break out, out of the blue singing lines from the song out of the blue. It was one of the first DVD's that we owned.

That's cool that lil' shop brings back such good memories for you! Movies like songs can remind us of a special moment in our lives, always good.

I have a few movies that I consider special. The one that comes to mind first is "Longtime Companion". It's a movie about the history of the AIDS crisis. This group of friends gather together the summer before the crisis really takes off and gradually, as you see the years pass, their numbers dwindle and dwindle and dwindle until only one committed pair of gay men and one their girlfriends remain. It's both beautiful and horrible at once and it echoes so much of my own history so clearly that I can't even watch it anymore without bursting into tears at the opening credits and crying my way through the whole movie. The last time I tried to watch it was World AIDS Day. I got to about minute four, not kidding, and had to change the channel. I think when the crisis is over or at least manageable in the developed world, I will be able to watch the movie again.

I never saw the movie, but I'll check it out. Sounds like it really hit home for you. When I started this discussion I was thinking more positive memories, but yes movies can also leave a negative effect, too. For me if a movie made me sad I wouldn't watch it, that's just me. And I do have movies like that.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I was watching it with a guy I liked, and after the movie he kissed me. We dated for two years after that and it was a good, fun relationship. We are best friends now but that movie will always be good memories for me. It was a coincidence to me that in my current job, my boss has a signed poster of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in his office. He either worked on the movie or knew someone who did. :)

For a long time I didn't like the movie, just cause it was a chick flick. Then recently a friend who really liked the movie asked me to watch it, and I found that it was pretty good. Basic hollywood flick, good visuals, the doomed love story line plot, all good. I now think that the movie is worth taking a gander at.
