The best gift for the queen of England is...a frickin iPod?

iPod in a variety of colors - This pic is of several iPods in various colors. Which one do you think the queen picked? LOL.

I thought this was a joke when I heard it. While visiting our allys in England, it is expected to bow before the queen and present her with a gift. Now, this is a woman who rules an entire country. With the snap of her fingers, she could have anything she wants. Here comes our tyrannical...I mean wonderful president Obama and of course he has a very special gift for the queen of England, the queen mother herself. All hail the queen! May I present to you my gift...a fricking iPod? How trashy can you be, Obama? Seriously, I don't care if it has her favorite show tunes on it. That is without a doubt the stupidest, last minute gift you can give the queen of England! Then to make it worse, he presents the Prime Minister of England 25 random DVDs. Jesus H Obama, how tacky can you be? Were you just so busy with tearing apart our country that you decided to further insult our allys by sending one of your secret service idiots to pick up a gift last minute? If I were the queen of England, I would have some serious doubts as to the future of the United States. But that's just me. If this woman wanted an iPod she could have one special ordered for her and I am pretty sure that the prime minister has his own personal theater with unlimited access to any movies he wants. These gifts just scream insult, not to mention the ridiculousness of our supposed leader. "Of all the ideas that became the United States, there's a line here that's at the heart of all the others. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty to throw off such government and provide new guards for their future security". - Declaration of Independence What this means is that if there's something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the RESPONSIBILITY to take action. As many times as Obama has screwed with our country already, would this or would this not constitute our rights to declare, "NO MORE!"? Tell me your thoughts.

You forgot about the rare songbook signed by Richard Rodgers, of Rodgers and Hammerstein fame. The queen has always been especially fond of their musical, Oklahoma! I love how that is always overlooked or minimized. Really, what would you give to a queen?

Oh wow! A rare songbook that I can get on Ebay at a discounted price. Wow. If I were to visit the queen and had pretty much unlimited funds, it would be something more grand than a cheapy toy that I can purchase at Walmart.

"Oh wow! A rare songbook that I can get on Ebay at a discounted price." If that were the case then it wouldn't be considered rare.

They didn't show any respect at all to the Queen. Obama and Michelle walked in there like Rerun from What's Happening. I don't understand why Obama insists on acting so "cool" ... like it's his hipness that makes him a progressive or something. Look, the dude's an ubernerd. He's the furthest thing from "street" in America. The ONLY thing that separates him from any well-to-do Wall Street mogul or politician is the fact that he has an 80-million strong apologist group constantly reminding us that "he's African-American." So what? If Bush had done that he'd be crucified on the world stage, not just in America. You don't give the Queen a high-five. You don't touch the Queen's back. You bow to the Queen. You don't give the Queen trite gifts. You treat the Queen like a Queen! But that's not the worst part of this entire trip. He insists on apologizing on behalf of America for the rest of the world not liking America... like it's America's fault or something. It's disgusting.

Amen! Preach on my friend! Obama is a puppet to which special interest groups are pulling the strings. He is this new shiny toy that the country is wild about and yet it has an agenda of its own which seems to be to slowly destroy what our forefathers have worked so hard to build and sustain. He is one of those who gives a little smile, a high five, a pat on the back, and then stabs you slowly over and over again. When comes the time that America wakes up from its coma and realizes this man was and is the wrong choice for leading our country. People are just so wowed that he is the first African-American president that they have lost sight of the dilemna our country has been put in. It is therefore the duty of those who can make a change and stop the insanity, to do so and they need to do it ASAFP!!! LivyJ

You are absolutely right, Barb. No one can truly read the mind of the queen. We all have a constutional right to believe what we want to believe and I am not going to put anyone down for their opinions. The fact is we will always have our opinions and our rights to them and they will not always agree. What makes it great is that we can discuss them without malice or contentment. This is what I am trying to do with my discussions. If I have offended anyone, then I apologize profoundly but I needed to express myself and that is what I did.

I guess jumping all over Obama without knowing the truth will be the priority of many people here for awhile. Yeah it is always fun to read garbage spewed without real facts. The Queen was happy, but of course you can read her mind now right?

I didn't think I'd have to apologize so much for my president ever. What's really bad is he felt the Queen of England would need to have his Speeches during his campaign on that thing too! Talk about being full of yourself. It's like Obama is actually testing what all he can get away with and he's getting away with it. I mean it's like everyone is tip toeing around him and afraid to say anything.

I wouldn't be so sure about Congress doing much of anything to keep him in check. I mean the little fat they trim off his plans is not enough. Our Government is blowing money like it's going out of style... and the discussions of actually moving away from the U.S. Dollar is outragous. All we have to look forward to in the future is higher taxes, higher energy costs, and inflation, inflation, inflation... if we continue on this route.

Ah ha, you just said the magic word...if. See, so many of us are hanging on the 'what ifs' that it is creating a self fulfilling prophecy of failure. Does it mean that we shouldn't worry? No. Does it mean we should just stand back and let all this destruction happen? No. Does it mean we must have some degree of patience? Unfortunately, yes. Honestly, things could be a lot worse with Congress. They could be saying yes to everything without fully evaluating what they are approving. Then, we would be in some real trouble. I am not trying to downplay your concerns because you are right to fear. Some of these proposals are indeed scary to think about let alone accept. But, I am determined to hold out some degree of hope. Livy J

Yes, he does seem full of himself in that respect. I mean putting music that we knows she loves is one thing but to fluff yourself with a gift meant for her is just arrogant. It does seem like SOME people are tip toeing around him. However, I wouldn't say he is getting away with everything. I couldn't say that because already Congress is keeping him in check with what he wants to do and have denied him a couple times already. But he does seem to like to test the waters a bit. It's almost like a wild animal testing the weaknesses of a fence systematically to see where would be the best route of escape/attack. Does that make sense? Livy J

i haven't really read the news about this... so i don't really have any opinion about this... but i think as long as the queen is happy to receive the gift, there is nothing wrong with it... the one who receives the gift is the queen... so we don't actually have any say about this matter in my opinion... take care and have a nice day...

Hmmm, I guess that is one way of looking at it. But in turn, here is another question...are we sure she is happy or is it a show for the public? LOL Then again, I guess it doesn't actually have to do with us as you said. However it makes great conversation. LivyJ

Obama is keeping up his meticulus standards of being a complete A"hole, by giving totally inappropriate and insulting gifts to Royalty and Heads of State. I wonder what he gave the Saudi King? I bet it wasn't an ipod!! Shalom~Adoniah

Well,I don't think the Obama's have much respect for England. He gave DVDs the last time that didn't work in England and you know he can't be that dumb and did that knowing the DVDs would't work.

The iPod Obama gave her is exactly what the Queen asked for. She literally asked for that iPod. I think the contents were also part of the request.

Get your facts before you Post! Queen Elisabeth the Second does not rule anything. She is a Figurehead. As a Canadian I am not in awe of the Queen, as are some Americans. How would You gift a Queen? President Elect Obama raised Millions of dollars on the internet. No President Elect before him had ever done anything of the kind. A Fitting Gift for a Queen is something she obviously does not own, and something the President has made good use of. A very Fitting Gift indeed! President Obama is revered world wide,( as his recent European Trip proved) and is well on his way to putting America Back on the Map!

I really have a hard time understand the awe people see in Obama. He's done nothing impressive except write a book about a father he barely even know. He had no experience and his senate record was abysmal at best. He made money on the internet, big deal.

i totally agree with you irish. there is nothing much to be in awe with obama. there is nothing much accomplishments from Obama. THe fund raising i think is more because of the celebrities that supported him. if not for them he will not be in the white house. he just gained popularity because of the endorsement of oprah. besides that there is nothing much obama can offer to americans. until now he has not proven anything as a president. except that he keeps making blunders and obnoxious actions and speeches.

My daughter made the comment that if it were Queen Victoria she'd say "We are not amused." I bought my son an ipod tonight. Does that make him royalty?

the question is do world leaders expect expensive gifts. as we all know that they have more than money to buy whatever they wanted to buy. and i guess this ipod as a gift may look cheap. but i guess it is not the value but the thought that is more important. i guess that Obama just gave ipod cause it stands what USA is for . cause USA is popular with that product and so like he is just giving some gadget to remind the queen of USA as a token of friendship. and if value of gift is the main thing in giving gifts to world leaders i think that OBama can easily give it. maybe he thought that it is cool to give ipod. but still the way i look at it in my own personal opinion he should have given something a little more expensive than this ipod or he should other gifts beside this ipod. but who knows. cause we don't know why this world leaders do to show respect to other world leaders. bust just seem with the cheap gift that obama is not giving the queen some proper respect as another world leader and that what bothers most of us.

Well, if you actually read the entire article about this, you would have learned that the queen was very happy with her present. Downloaded on this special Ipod was a picture book of her latest vists to the states, and a full video of one of her appereances. If you were to actually read the article, you would have understood that this is something that the queen requested, and being a good guest he did what the queen wanted. Things look differently when you have all of the facts, instead of the right wing BS.

Ok this may seem harsh but it is a valid question. With all the resources at her disposal, including a public relations and photo journalism team, why exactly does she need our president to be doing all this work for her? Yeah I bet she was happy. It's not like it takes a genius to put some files on an iPod.

LOL. Perhaps...but I am still trying to have faith in our government too. There is still plenty of time for him to prove me and anyone else wrong. As I have said before, if he fixes this country and keeps true to his word in doing so, I will personally send a letter to president Obama himself apologizing for anything offensive that I have said.
