We can enter only 5 tags per discussion then why...

.. do mylot asks us to enter more tags when we respond to a discussion?
Have you ever noticed that we can only use 5 tags per discussion? Even if I am giving 5 tags with this discussion, mylot would ask you to enter tags for it and if you choose to enter one, you can't see them anywhere on the page! You are not believeing it, give it a try with this discussion. I am sure you can't see your tags once you will submit it.
For those who don't know about tags:
Tags are like keywords entered once you create discussion or post a response or comment. These are helpful in searching discussion depending upon that word.

Hi sanu!
This is difficult for me to explain but here goes:
When you start a discussion you may add 10 tags. Once the discussion is posted only 5 will be visible. As other tags become added by other users, the 5 most popular tags will appear. Starting from the left, the first tag is the one used the most.
Tags are important when searching for discussions later and this is their purpose.

Sometimes there are only one or two tags, but the ones I add aren't added to them. I guess myLot admin has to remain mysterious. There are so many things I just don't get!

I appreciate the info, but it doesn't apply to what happens when only a couple of tags are shown, and others aren't added.

Yes, that is a mystery and I think I have found an answr to that. If you could visit the first page and read response number 4, then you will get the answer.

Everything depends on how I am feeling and what the discussion is as to whether I tag the discussion or not. I have noticed that I never see the tags,but I wasn't aware that there was a limit on how many we could have on a post. I see the purpose of them,but sometimes don't feel that I need to add any.

even though it's not showing,it can still lead people to your discussion.
it does seem silly,but it works.i'm kind of surprised any show at all,it's just for the search engine.

You can only see the first 5 tags, but the others are stored and I believe you can search on them. At any rate, if you do put in a tag, and then if you go back to the discussion, it won't ask you for one again.

Yes, you are right the discussion will ask you only till you submit once. After which it will not ask you to do the same. Once I thought that one tag will be enough for the discussion but after submission I thought that one more tag would be nice but I couldn't find submit button again.

as far as i know we can use up to 10 tags each discussion. maybe they just display 5 or maybe the most popular tags only. anyway i don't really noticed it much because sometimes i get irritated putting tags over and over again. anyway happy mylotting!

Hi sanuanu,
I noticed the same and wondered why they are asking again for tag when posting responses. But I am always giving tags because if I skip it, it will ask the same again and again when giving counter comments etc. so it becomes a disturbance so I give the tags on the first instance itself. I think mylot is providing the tagging facility purposely so better we use the same wisely.

That's new to me, and never realised that but I don't put tags on my responses..it is interesting to know though it does make you wonder what happens to the ones who do tag, wether or not they appear on the page...littleowl

I use to always add tags but for the moment I am trying to not add tags unless it is my discussion. I never knew that you could only add 5 per discussion. I guess I must have never used more than four, lol. Did you know you can only use three of the mylot codes. I realized that a few months ago so I tend to do only two at a time. You save one for emergency don't you. Nice, I know that I can use only two mylot smileys, including bold, italic and underline.
Mylot admin is good in setting up limits. At times we can think that three is not that enough but it has its reason, isn't it?
Oh, for the discussion sake, i would like you to go and read #4 response. Tags are discussed there in details.

I always give one word for my disscusion tages. sometime two. I will slect a word from the disscussion title. I realy prefer to slect one one word for a tag and go on to the next dissciton

Well... Actually i do not to concern about typing a tags... But i think if we want to put some tags for our discussions, just tags it with a single of interest from discussion title.
