Yes i just saw the same news story a little while ago. It is such a shame that it was a child so young. My prayers go out to the family.

hello moneymommy that is so sad to hear about. i do not watch much news, but i have read about the swine flu over the internet. we do not need that to come this way to Tennessee. and that is sad that the swine flu killed a toddler. is there no cure for the swine flu? or if somebody gets it, it is too late to go to the Doctor for help? and the swine flu is scarey news, way back when, the swine flu killed millions of people. take care and have a beautiful day today!

I dont know why they are calling it the swine flu. This flu consists of 4 different strains. Two swine flu strains, bird flu as well as human flu. I think they are discussing changing the name because alot of people are misinformed and think you can catch it from eating pork. This is not true you cannot get it from eating pork. There is no vaccine for the flu yet. The only thing that may help is tamiflu and another antiviral medication. The fatalities are caused when one get pneumonia and respiratory distress from the flu. Be careful, wash hands and stay at least 6 feet away from sick people. If you feel sick dont go to work or out in public places. If you get a fever of 100 go and get tested for the flu. I hope it doesn't come your way.

The media has people so paranoid, that everyone who gets sick now is worried about this flu. The hospitals are overflowing with people, leaving less time for the ones who really need the help. I dont mean to sound mean, only that this whole thing has been blown out of proportion as many doctors are saying everywhere. Every year there is flu that kills people who cannot tolerate it. Because this one became public, now everyone is paranoid.

You are not scared because maybe you don't understand the seriousness of this virus.Do you think that it's like the ordernary flu virus that some people get's every year? It might be familar but it's not like it. It did not reach you or any of your love ones so you could'nt be scared.

Yes, I heard this yesterday. Probably when you posted this also, but I'm just getting to your discussion today. My little sister lives in Texas and she told me yesterday they closed the schools down in Fort Worth because of the Swine Flu and Fort Worth is only about 30 minutes away from her. So I have been worried sick about her and her family.

the young and the infirm are the ones that will die from this, if you are healthy, you are pretty safe from dying from this

Yup, I read it in the news today. It sure is scaring. Also learned that it even has affected Germany already. I don't know, but they say that swine flu has already been detected in the 1970's but has been revived, and now has affected Mexico, the US, then Germany. Our country has taken strict measures to prevent the disease from affecting our people. I thought bird flu was the last of it, but now this new threat to humanity. I hope preventive measures will be put in place so as to stop it from victimizing more, especially babies.

They have changed the name from "swine flu" to H1N1 Influenza A because the term swine flu is misleading since the virus is not from swine. Deaths have gone up as of writing to over 200. It is sad because there is no vaccine against it. They have raised the Alert to 5 too. For those high risk and has been exposed to it there is a medicine for chemoprophylaxis taken daily for 5 days. You have to consult a physician to get the prescription.

Right now this is being blown out of proportion. There are deaths with every type of flu, I agree we should be concerned because this one seems to be easily spread so we all need to take care. Eat well and always wash your hands before and after meals. Try to stay away from large crowds, shop in off hours if you can and get plenty of rest.

I also advised my kids to keep watching their hands and not put there hands to their face either. TAke care and happy mylotting to you as well.
