The Culprits:
Viral videos and other videos found on sites like YouTube.
Facebook, Twitter, and other large interactive social network sites.
Online movies and television show sites.
Billions of work at home scammers.
Billions and billions of web pages that do little more than waste bandwidth.
The Crime:
The once thought to be infinite internet is running out of space and IP addresses, and could be out of bandwidth by as early as next year because of sites like the ones listed above hogging all the resources.
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/the_web/article6169488.ece
The Consequences:
Internet users face regular “brownouts” that will freeze their computers.
Computers will be disrupted and go offline for several minutes at a time.
PCs and laptops are likely to operate at a much reduced speed, rendering the internet an “unreliable toy”.
The Solution:
157 BILLION DOLLAR upgrade on existing equipment.
Charging bandwidth hogs more money for the resources they use up.
Final development and launch of "The Grid" which is going to be "the next internet" and will parallel the existing internet. (developed by the same scientists who developed today's internet)
anyways.........just something to think about next time you're Tweeting or watching that viral video of that baby elephant BASE jumping off the Eiffel Tower.......
cuz after all........do we really want to deal with something called BROWNOUTS???

Is that charged by measuring around the girth?
How about the grid width? Or from the grid we could make the cube?
Now I'm thinking Star Trek... Hmmmm? Does anyone have a diversion for me?

The internet is like a wave of sound coming from an instrument the fact that we have made it louder with electronics only amplified exponentially to the power of T and if you don't know what I'm talking about lets look at the evolution of the internet in brief.
First there was dial up run through your common phone lines a little wire where information was slowly controlled so that they could sell the better faster DSL service.
Then there was DSL provided over the same copper wire that your Dial up was connected through... Your information flowing into and out of your computer was like the running water through in and from a garden hose and it worked just fine...
Now there is Fios Fiber Optics and Coaxial Cable to connect with more power faster and more efficiently... The information was like connecting to a 5" Fire Hose moving so much more water than a garden hose you could fill a swimming pool in minutes instead of hours.
Did you hear of 'T'??? If you are connected to 'T' it is like being connected right to the ocean of information no piping required as it is so much less restrictive. Now who can afford 'T'???
In this scenario talking about Bandwidth is archaic in which case the only reason to research 'Bandwidth' is to make a profit off of other people of which a good band can always profit from their craft.

That is interesting. Thank you for sharing with me. I have often wondered if there are limits. I do run across certain times of the day that my pages take longer to load. It would be bad if I can not connect to sites I need. I hope it does not come down to brownouts and such.

yeah, i saw it on the news this morning, so i thought i would do a little research and share with my fellow myLotians.
hopefully they release "The Grid" soon which will be the "new" internet but will be much quicker......they say you can download a full length feature movie in just seconds.

Ha. More and more people are joining the same sites you mentioned above. I've got nothing against them, in fact youtube is a great site which provides a platform to any people to present their skills, but as you also mentioned, most people are posting garbage which is surely slowing up sites. The experience of being on YouTube is no longer there as many people are doing nothing but posting waste.
I've already started to feel the problems. The system hangs when browsing through sites and then gets back to its normal self after the page has loaded.

i guess it's just time to move on to "The Grid" (see link above) which will be the next internet and will be much, much faster.
with so many people relying on the internet these days, i don't think the powers that be will ever let the technology just end......or worse, go backwards.
the future should just make things better and faster.

I don't really watch YouTube. I've went there, cause I just love listening to the Unicorn Song. (Yeah, I know. I'm a nut) But that's the only time I've even been there. Facebook I have no experience with (and don't care to). I'm on Twitter, but it's not my be-all of existence, and I could do very well without it since I have to remember to even go there.
I just don't understand all the desire to spend all day on them. It would be a sad thing to not be able to research the interesting things just cause a bunch of bandwidth wasters HAVE to put up every tiny little uninteresting gossipy thing they've thought up at every minute. Says a lot about the person though, doesn't it?
I can't even get on the net now, if it's after 4 pm. I don't even try anymore. And I have DSL.

oh my god! i never knew the internet was limited. i can not go back to live without internet i have been accustomed to this for so long. i hope the grid will came out quicker. wait! if the grid comes out and everyone that's using this internet now decides to use the grid, then wouldn't the grid be filled up too? while this internet stays empty? i think they should have login ID'S for the internet so they can keep track of everyone and there wouldn't be overcrowding. just my opinion. good luck to us all. god bless. great discussion. cheers love.

I so hope you are wrong because I don't see these sites giving up any of their usage and I for one would suffer if I didn't have reliable internet access. I get all my work online and have to download paperwork and input forms everyday to make the money that pays the bills.
