This happened to me twice. Once a motorbike just knocked me down and I fell flat on the road.Luckily, of course I escaped with a few mild bruises, and there was no vehicle behind. It was some 10 years back .The next time it was my own stupid fault. I had gone to a new place and while I was out shopping, I was so excited looking at the shops and then chatting incessantly with the person who had accompanied me that I did not look at the obstacle, while walking .I just tripped hard and was about to fall flat but the person held my hand and I was alright . I gave a sheepish smile [aching all over] and felt quite foolish because it was such an idiotic thing to do .So, have you had this experience anywhere, in a road, a mall or anywhere for that matter? We need to be careful because we may not be lucky at all times...

Hi! Kala!
Once I was riding my bike and my kids were sitting as pillon riders. Suddenly, I saw a huge, wide and long crater, there was a very narrow path along side that crater and I decided to go ahead. However, my calculations proved wrong, the path got narrower, when I moved ahead and before I could understand, we all (me, my bike and my kids) were deep inside crater. Naturally, the kids started crying and I was also dumb shocked. Some passerby did help us to recover ourselves and pulled us on the surface. I was nervous and horrified and kept worrying about the kids. Luckily, one of my relatieves used to stay nearby, I rushed to his place and he was at home and he arranged for the Doctor and immediate medical aid. To our good luck, no one had any serious injury. Thereafter, I do not take any chances and try to drive very carefully.

My God what a horrible experience! Driving is a terrible thing and the responsibility falls on the driver too.I have only been a pillionrider all through my life and can very well understand how terrible it would have been at that point of time.Thank God you all escaped with no serious injury.

Hi Kala,
I had a fall before two months while getting down the stairs and I was holding my younger son. It was somebody else’s house and there was no proper light and I skipped one step (wrongly). Fortunately my son was safe and I got some pain in leg and later there was some swelling. But I got scold from my hubby for not taking care. (He is showing his care that way, lol). Recently there was no fall in road with God's grace.
I am sorry to learn about your accidents and thank God you are alright. Yes God is there always to protect you. Take care dear.

Oh Sree ! With your son in hand, if you are going to trip and fall , it is even more scary. At that point of time you would have really felt nervous for a minute. And of course, husbands would show their concern
this way.It is well understood.
.Mine were not really serious. At least the second one was not too serious because there could be no vehicles there on the road.It was only the ignominy of it all.But the first one on the road was a lucky one because it was the main road where normally buses and vehicles pass.

I am an incessant tripping kind. I would trip on the same place even if you add the whole world to it. My mom thinks I am incredible and she makes out from my shuffling steps that it cannot be anyone but me. LOL.. I am quirky with all weird things on earth. When i wear sarees, which is very very seldom, only in weddings, i know that I would fidget, fumble, trip and finally fall! On ordinary days also i slip, skid, fall. I think i am the falling queen! lol..
Only recently, i had a fall on the auto stand with my stuffs scattered all around. to my surprise no one laughed and they quite shocked helped me gather my bag, mobile other things. That's the way I am!

Yes a disaster that could cost my pro activity! I try to be very careful but breaking my limbs would be the last thing I would want in life.
Hope you are doing fine. You take care dear.

Sorry dear for the late comment. There has been a connectivity problem here.
And to fall in the autostand is something awful, very embarrassing too at that point of time though w e would laugh later. Your mom would naturally worry herself to pieces. And , if you have this natural tendency, wearing a saree would be the ultimate disaster.

this has happened to me many many times already... my husband even calls me dennis the menace, although there is nothing menacing about tripping and falling on the road if its not your fault... lol... sometimes he calls me Mr. Bean...
i dont know if this will count, but this one i can never forget, i was in high school, and i was running through the corridor 2nd floor of our school, running to my room and just before i reach the door, i slide and fell straight on my back, so many students saw me, i went inside the room right away and sat down wishing the floor would open up and swallow me... lol
once while i was crossing the highway, i tripped and fell on my knee, good thing it wasnt serious as i was pregnant with my first baby that time... i'm sure my feet are left and right and not 2 left feet... i dont know why these things always happens to me.

Once when I was in college before my hubby and I got married I was working for a catering company. We were working a job where former US President Jimmy Carter was speaking. We were rushing to get plates and glasses on the table before people started to come in to eat. The floor was wet where glasses had sweat from the ice. I was practically running with two glasses of tea in my hands. I hit the wet spot and down I went. Glasses broke, tea went everywhere and I lay there like an idiot feeling so embarrassed.
All of I sudden I looked up and there were two of the secret service agents that were traveling with President Carter's security detail standing there with their hands reached out to help me up.

I have several hilarious stories of falling that I may use as a post someday, but I guess the most recent would be when I broke my hand falling. My husband and I were going to the local county fair in the middle of the day at his lunch hour. We parked our car a few blocks from the fairgrounds and started walking. There was a slight gap in the sidewalk and I tripped! I knew I broke something immediately! We ended up in the hospital ER instead of at the fair. Embarrassing! Didn't even have an interesting accident story to tell: Tripped and fell in broad daylight!......

When I was an elementary student, in a field trip with my teachers and schoolmates, while walking in a mall because there was an exhibit of Ripley's Believe it or not my classmate played a joke on me a place his foot in front of me. I was too busy looking at the displays and reading the descriptions. Because of that I didn't notice his foot and I fell down on my knees and he made fun of me. I didn't cry and I just stood up and continued what I was doing.
When I was in college, I was fond of playing basketball. I always play basketball since there is a court in front of our house. I don't have interest on playing in a league its just my hobby. But the HRM department of our school asked me to play for them I said why not. On the following day my own department the engineering department told me that they had listed my name under our department I said I'm going to play for the HRMs since they are the first who invited me. Few hours later the Business department told me that my name is listed to play for them the same dialog i told them. When the game started HRM leads the league and as we play versus the other department a player tripped me and i got injured badly. After the league ends up for awarding HRMs got the first place and the Business department became the champs. Its too bad we end up to become the 1st.
Now I can't play because of the injury i received.

Two incidents come to mind. The first one happened when I was a kid on my bike. My parents had a driveway that used head towards the garage downhill and I pulled into it too quickly and could not stop and consequently ran straight into the garage roller door!
Another time as an adult; I was walking along the street in the middle of peak hour in the heart of the city and a friend drove past. I waved at my friend and just as he was out of sight I tripped and literally flew and ended up flat on my face. I had a few bruises and scratches but nothing hurt more than my pride. A couple of passers by came to my rescue but I was on my feet so fast; it's amazing how quickly one can get up in a situation like that regardless of any pain!

Hi kala, thank god you did not have any serious injuries, because one can never be sure esp on our roads and public places. I had a bad experience 5 years ago, which has left a permanent mark on me. I was shopping for fruits , was about to climb down with the heavy bag , while i lost my balance and slipped. I got up and with the help of some shop keepers who helped me, gathered all the fruits and vege that had spilled over and even managed to drive back home , but i could feel a stinging pain in my knee and leg. After reaching home i was unable to get out of the car and realised that my entire leg had swollen and was very painful.I was taken to the doctor and an x ray was taken and it was found that my knee ligament had torn. I was operated the same night and was in plaster for 2 months and later on physiotherapy....thankfully i have recovered completely, but when i over exert i still feel some pain in the knee joint..

I don't remember tripping on the road and falling on the road. However I have fallen on the road while riding my cycle. I was riding it in a standing position and turned the handle too much. Next thing I knew I was laying flat on the road. Other time while getting down from a truck my shoe got stuck and again I was laying flat on the road. The reason I remember both these incidents is because they happened with a blink of an eye. Usually whenever I am about to fall, I am able to see myself going down and manage to change my body position or put my hands first in order break the fall. However in the above two incidents I was on the bike/truck a moment ago and the next thing I know is I am lying on the road.

You are fortunate not to be seriously injured in these falls. You reminded me of my folly of using the then fashionable sandals which was high with thick padding all over the sole. Instead of using the ordinary rubber slipper with the thin sole I chose to put on that thick padded slipper to the fish market. Not familiar with that kind of slippers I could only blame myself for tripping on the slippery floors and had the fish I bought strewn all over when I fell flat on the wet floors and the smelly water splashed on to my clothes. Though I was not hurt but I felt my face turning red with embarrassment when all eyes were on me. That was an experience I can never forget.
