My first AC article

United States
May 6, 2009 7:46am CST
I have recently decided that I would like to try to write some articles for AC and Helium. I have done a little on Helium but never make money at it. I wrote my first article on Ac today and would like some advice on it from others who are being paid there. My article is on green living and how we can do simple things to make our lifestyles a little "greener". Would you take a look at it and let me know what I can do to improve. My user id there is Slaters431017174@aol.com and I only have one article. I would sure appreciate any feedback that I can get from others. Did I do okay on my first article? What improvements can I make? How do I mazimize my chance to earn there?

Congratulations! I am sure you will enjoy writing for AC. I have been there for over two years myself and have published over 200 articles on various subjects. I'd be glad to critique your work but I couldn't find it using the ID you gave. Send me the link to your article and I'll be glad to read it. Maximize your earning by promoting your own work in many venues. Gain some subscribers by reading article by the other authors and leaving intelligent comments that let them know you actually read their work. Other readers will see your comments and curiosity will make them check out your profile page and maybe read some of your articles (or at least your one, until you get some more posted). Ask all your friends, coworkers, and family members if you can add them to your subscribers' list so they will receive notice each time you are published. Subscribe to other authors' articles and send them a message letting them know you've subscribed. They may return the favor, or at least take time to read a few of yours. If you are on facebook you can set up your AC account so that each link your AC work is automatically posted on your facebook page. I think it works for a few other social networks, too, but I use facebook the most. Add a link to your AC page on any blogs that you write. Post your AC profile link or the link to individual aricles wherever you can find an appropriate place! Once you have a few articles posted, look up Donald Pennington on AC. He has set up an interview template set up to give us all more exposure within AC. You don't have to wait to be asked, just fill in your answers to the interview template and send it to Donald. If you can't find the link let me know and I'll look it up for you.

I have been there a while and did not know how the interviews were conducted, thanks for letting me know, I am just now starting to do better there, since I had so many issues right around the time I first registered, and then my son was killed, and it has been just one thing after another. But I am glad that I have stayed there because it has been very helpful for me to write.

Hi Carolscash, there is an interest group here entitles "Associated Content". Since you are living in the US, you can select title from Helium, write the article as if you are submitting for Helium. Submit the article for Associated Content, choose non-exclusive, after your article is published, you can repost the article in Helium. In this way you can earn upfront payment from both writing sites. I will check out your article later. Most of AC writers add each other as favorites and follow each other's writing, so as to help each other earn page view payments.

Should I always get upfront payment for my articles on those sites. I thought that non exclusive on AC only paid by page reviews.

Hi Carol, that is the advice given by AC writers. Most of them choose non-exclusive, so that they can repost the articles in Constant-Content or Helium. They still get upfront payment. However there are some articles rejected by AC for being "too common", so the AC writers sell them (full rights) in Constant-Content or dailyarticle. Better make full use of the system before AC changes policy.

I think you are assuming that we all know what AC is and I am sure you aren't talking about Alternating Current here. :) I will say that creating articles that point to money making sites and getting them published is the best way to make a living online. I personally use EA - EzineArticle.com and once I get my unique article accepted there I publish to about 10 other directories. I find it very helpful to change up the bio box links a bit so that I am pointing to different internal pages on my blogs.

I think she is talking associate content, because I have heard others who do write there refer to it as AC or A/C. Anyway, someone else was telling me lastnight about ezine article's. is it hard to write there? I was thinking of looking into that today. I would just about rather write today than do any of the things that I do need to do.

Most people who write for money will know that AC is Associated Content. It is talked about on here quite often. I think that I will try some other sites soon and I might make a blog next week. I think it will be a list of sites that I know are good for making a little money on.

Hello carolscash!!! Well like you I am also new there is associated content and I have also posted an article there. But I am surprised you are asking to check your article, when you have posted is just today. Is it already published? The one I posted took a week to verify and then got returned for the grammar mistakes. So I had to correct them again and re submit it. And finally it got accepted and published. As far as I know, associated content is surely a genuine site. I was been told by this site by a friend from mylot here. I hope she can better respond to this thread than me. And I hope she will reach this thread.... Good luck from my side...

If you write for page views only normally the article or poem will be posted right away without having to wait,. HTHS

I think I did the same thing. The posting for the page views only, that pays 1.5$ for 1000 views. Didn't you mean this?

Writing for Associated Content, aye? Hm.... How to improve? How to maximize earnings? A few tips: a. Promote your work through family members, friends, friends online, and most importantly as many people on AC as possible. This will drive up your reviews/views, which, if I'm not mistaken, is how AC operates off of earnings. b. Be active. Talk with people- send them messages. Read some of their articles, and they'll most likely return the favor. c. WRITE as FREQUENTLY as possible. It is only through quantity can something become quality- unless you're a perfectionist, in which that works as well, but you frankly won't earn nearly as much, nor will you learn as much either. I'll do my best to check out your article as soon as I can- did you, by the way, have any trouble signing up on AC? Because I so far haven't been able to, given the stupid activation email hasn't worked yet (after the fourth bloody time- AND I've contacted them!)... See you later, and good luck on your work for AC! My warmest regards. -Fresh Writing

Thanks for the advice. I hope to do well with it and I hope that I can make some decent money soon from it as we are struggling now as I only work part time and my husband is not working.

I used to write for AC and Helium but since they only pay us in Canada for page views, I have stopped doing so. I do have a couple of articles on Helium and I think one on AC, but it seems they want me to go and critique the other articles and that does not leave me time to do any writing. But I entered your user name and could not find it. I think they go by real names there, so maybe if you give more hints we could find it.

Look at the link on the second response to this article. I have included it there. Sorry to hear that you don't write there anymore. Do you have other sites that you do.

I apologize if this is off topic, but does AC pay international members? I did have the inclination to join a year before but I read that they don't pay international members. But as of that, I've never checked the site anymore. As for Helium, I cashed out once at $25 and never was active there anymore because I took a year to reach the $25 payout, heh. I suppose I didn't put so much effort there and was concentrating making my own blog and was that time pretty active in mylot and busy with work.

I really do not know if they accept international members or not. It might be worth checking into again. How is your blog doing? Do you make money off of it? I am thinking of doing that next.

Maybe your article isn't there yet because it hasn't been published? Go on your account screen where it lists all of your articles. Did you submit it for upfront payment or just for performance payments?

I did submit it and had to wait on it to be published but now I am four of them there. Feel free to take a look at them. Here is the link to the articles: http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/514550/carol_slater.html

Hello Carolcash, Congradulations on your new article. Can you be kind enough, to let those who may not know who and what is AC, I think this will increase your chances of having more veiws. Happy My Lotting!

AC is Associated Content and that is a site that you write articles for and get paid for them. Most online writers know what it is and that is why I listed the abbreviation.
