Do you share a blanket or use a separate blanket?

I have been wanting to do a discussion on this topic for awhile now. This discussion popped into my head when I had responded to a friends discussion about Do you sleep in the same bed as your spouse. For my hubby and I we use different blankets. For a couple different reasons. For starters is because my hubby attends to take the blanket when ever we use the same one so there for before morning comes I am freezing. Plus my hubby likes to use rough blankets as for me I like to use the soft silky blankets. It would be nice to cuddle with my hubby but we don't. I think cuddling is one of the ways to have a long marriage just like talking, honesty, loyal and trusting. Who knows maybe just maybe one day we will end up using the same blanket some day. How about you and your spouse do you use the same blanket when you sleep or do you use separate blankets? Happy Mylotting

LOL that is funny. Well now my hubby and I use the same blanket but I hate it because it is the blanket that he has always had. But I will be happy when I get a new after talking my hubby into it. Happy Mylotting

Well I was planning to get a King Size blanket so that I will have some to cover up with when my hubby goes to steal it. Besides I think bigger is the better. Happy Mylotting

You want a new blanket. Make sure it is big. Have to be King size or at least Queen size.

I have heard a lot of people say they have seperate blankets on the same bed! My husband and I share blankets. We always cuddle into the middle of the bed together. Well, expect for the summer when it is too hot for that! Sometimes the blankets will shift and one of us will end up with most of them. The other one always yanks them back! That doesnt happen often though! I think one of the reasons we are able to share is because we have a queen sized bed with king sized blankets! This way there is plenty of blankets to cover the bed and us without being exposed to the cold draft! My husband does want a king sized bed next time we get want. Im not really sure why. When that happens, I will make blankets so that they are still oversized. I will buy fleece from the fabric store to make a blanket that is somewhat of a patchwork with large pieces. I will crochet a bedspread. Im not willing to give up the oversized blankets!

Hi, Seppy1984. Me and my husband cover up with the same blanket. I do have a plum fleece throw that I use to cover up with when it gets cold in the bedroom. This is my own personal blanket. I like it because it is very soft and cozy.

Hello, Well I can say that I like the warm and soft cozy blankets. My hubby and I uses the same blanket now. Thank goodness, I was starting to think that we would be like some of the couples that never share a blanket...LOL Happy Mylotting

My husband and I always share a blanket. We always cuddle in bed so closely that you could put a pin between us....lol. Most the time we do not need a blanket because of us cuddling we give of each others body heat. Yes I agree cuddling, honesty, loyalty and much more are all important to have to have a great long lasting relationship and marriage. Happy Mylotting All!!!

Sigh! I really prefer that my husband and I have separate blankets but in the end, my husband will eventually share blankets with me because according to him, the blanket I used gets warm and toasty due to my body heat. As a result, after 2 hours, I'm left with no blanket while my husband is having the dream of his life. We argue about this for almost 2 decades now. Alas, he can't change. You can't teach old dogs new tricks, even when he was younger. I surrender.

Hello, well when I read your response I kinda chuckled. My hubby and I use to be the same way. So I told him that maybe we should try using the same blanket. Well we came to find a blanket that we both like a lot and since then we have shared a blanket and we actually get be covered at the same time. He use to always take the blanket from me and it would make me upset because I would have to take it back and then it would be tug-a-war. Well good luck on the blanket situation. Happy Mylotting

The majority of the time my husband and I share a blanket. Though there have been times that we use separate blankets, especially during wintertime as he likes to use a sheet year around and I like to use a blanket when it is cold out. But as he tends to run hot I usually just cuddle up next to him to keep warm.

I know what your saying here. My hubby likes to use the thin blankets and I like the heavy blankets when it is winter time. My father in-law and mother in-law is the same way. My mother in-law was telling me once that my father in-law uses a sheet all year round. I don't understand how he can do it. If I was a guy I would be afraid of freezing my nuts off...LMAO Happy Mylotting

With my girlfriend we use the same blanket together when we sleep. But If the blanket doesnt fit you both I think its okay to use separate blanket. But its still romantic when you share a blanket when sleeping.

I totally agree with you. It is romantic to share a blanket. I have noticed that since my hubby and I started sharing a blanket a couple weeks ago that we don't fight so much.

The only one I ever share a bed with anymore is one of my kids. They get their own blankets because they are both blanket hogs.

My 3 year old will climb into bed and take all the blankets and then try to take up the whole bed. It is funny to see children do stuff like this.

We've always had seperate blankets otherwise it's a tug of war to stay covered during the night. Though we got this king sz blanket last year we use in winter over our comforters and we do good with that one, I think it's just big enough (though our bed isn't a king) that it really does a nice job. You don't need to share a blanket to snuggle. We snuggle when we can or if the other isn't exhausted ect even if just for a lil bit, it's still warms a persons heart to be so near their spouse.

That is so very true about whether or not you can share but yes it does warm a persons heart to be near their spouse. I know it does mine.

My husband and I use separate blankets but they always tend to overlap each other so we cuddle closely all night but if one happens to toss and turn they end up having their own blanket as well. I don't know how we started doing this but i think its very good. When i make the bed in the morning, i just make it with the two blankets on top of each other and when we get in bed we just pull our own blanket more towards us than get around the overlapping two. I do feel closer to him when we're cuddling i think no matter what all hard feelings or anything you've argued about throughout the day go away when we get into bed and cuddle on another.

Yes that is very well true. I know I would like for my hubby and I to cuddle but he all the time says it's not comfortable. The only time he likes to cuddle is when get done making love. To me I would think it should not be a big deal cuddling all the time then. Who knows, guys are strange anyways....

My man and I share a blanket, and at "sleep time" after all the tv watching and whatever else... we also share the blanket with our dog :) we all sleep very close together but we all stay warm even when the blankets come off. We cuddle really close. We share a double bed.

For me, it is better to use seperate blankets while sleeping. I don't know but mainly for hygienic purposes. It's better to have your personal blanket since it is solely for you. And to think of any possible avoidance of getting skin diseases or illness even the share of body odor (i can't imagine it). In that case we can see how hygienic and responsible we are not just in terms of personal belongings but also on how we take care of ourselves.

I use to sleep on the couch because he snores and plus it was easier when my 1 year old was a baby. But now I sleep in the bed.

My fiance and I Use the same blanket but there are times when I will throw it off of me because I am too hot, or just not comfortable with the blanket at all. Before we met, and I moved in, I would curl the blanket around me where sometimes not all of me was covered by the blanket, thus it was warm and cozy but not too hot. Now though I can only just throw the cover off of me. We snuggle for a few minutes before I turn around to get comfortable.

I know I am always tossing and turning to get comfortable but then again my hubby seems to thinks that he needs the whole bed when it is a queen size bed. I can't get him to realize that he is only about 2-3 feet wide so there is no need to take the whole bed up.

As of now, I'm still a single. But, I have a niece, and she always sleep beside me. And we have separate blanket. But, if one of our blanket washed, we must have to share blanket temporarily. When I am sleeping, I need to cover my whole body in a blanket to make me comfort to sleep. So, we need to separate blanket. But, soon.... If I got married to a right guy, maybe we share our blanket.

I understand about needing to be comfortably wrapped in the blanket. I sometimes likes to cocoon myself just so that I can fall a sleep when I am tired but can't get to sleep.

In the beginning, we tried sharing a blanket; but he always ended up with the blanket, and sometimes I had to wake up in the middle of the night freezing and trying to wrestle the blanket from him. So now we have our own blankets - though once in a while, he steals mine as well!

That is the same we tried it too. But of course he always seemed to have to take the blanket and pretty much cocoon himself in it. So that is when it was time to use different blankets. Happy Mylotting

Hi there Seppy1984; Well usually we have seperate blankets but we have been sharing here lately. I like to share but I do tend to get colder more than my boyfriend does. He says I am always kicking him in my sleep but I do not remember it or do it on purpose. I guess what ever works for a couple is what they should do. I think if you share or dont it has no reflection on the relationship itself. Take care and happy mylotting to you as well.

My hubby is the kicker and hitter when it comes time to sleep. You have a good point though about sharing and not sharing though.
