If you could invite anyone to your home...?

Whom would you like to invite to stay with you in your home for a week? It could be anyone from any walk of life(and they could not refuse you). What kinds of questions would you ask them? Where would you take them? I am admittedly a writer fan so my choice would have to be a writer. I have so many favorites that it is hard for me to decide, but I think I'd like to have James Lee Burke spend a week with me. I really like his earthy style of writing; his age is such that he has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge; and nobody tells a good story quite like a Southerner.
So, who do you admire enough that you could spend a week with?

My daughter is also a huge Ellen fan, stephcjh, and I agree that she would be a laugh a minute.

There are many people I would love to see but I wouldn't have them stay at my house. I would prefer to meet them at their hotel or at a restaurant. The first that comes to mind is Martin Scorsese. I would love to discuss film over a great dinner. All my others I would need a time machine.I would love to spend the night with Jim Morrison,Lord Byron,Cole Porter.

No deal, my place, my space. In fact there isn't any room.

You would be in great company with either of those guys, sarah. Having them stay at a hotel is not an option, sorry.

I would love the opportunity to get to know you better, winterose, and I think you are a good writer because I've read some of your articles.

Great question! I think the person I would love to have in my home for a week would have to be Dolly Parton. I think she is such a great person and has such a grand heart. She has been there and doesn't seem to be that affected by her fame. I would show her the area I live in which is beautiful and we have some grand mountains here too. It would be great to set and talk to her and have her around for a week.

Dolly is so down-to-earth, celticeagle, that I agree it would be a pleasure to hang out with her for a week!
Maybe what is behind her success is the fact that she doesn't seem to take life too seriously.

She really doesn't seem to. She is just so cool about who she is what she is doing. So comfortable and unaffected by it all.
