What Kind Of Greens Do You Like In A Salad?

Canada

Growing up, we just used to put Iceburg lettuce in salads because it was inexpensive. When I got older, Mom started buying Romaine or Boston lettuce. That was even better!! Occasionally we'd have spinich, and in Arizona, I had a salad with arugula. (sp?) YUMMY!! That was also good. I find the darker the greens, the better I like them. What kind of greens do you like in your salad?

Oh ... yes... cucumber. I love it in salads too :)Sometimes I slice it really thin, other times I cut it in very small cubes. But no matter how I cut it , I really like the taste it gives in the salads.

basically I like leaf lettuce. I can do with romaine or boston, but I like leaf lettuce best both the green and the red kind.I'll have spinach or watercress occasionally in my salads, but I don't like aragula that much, it's a bit bitter for my taste.

P.S. Oh, and I know they dont' have to necessarily be green, but \I really love bbq'd peppers in my salads. Red, green, yellow, orange.... Put them in the bbq until the skin is all charred and nice, get them in a container with water, take all the blackened skin, and add to the salad, yummy :):):)

i also like to put iceberg lettuce in my salad... i hardly try other greens in my salad yet... most of the time, i didn't make the salad... i just buy it... i think i am just plain lazy and want everything at my convenient... i work full time and i am just too tired when i get home to make a salad... so buying it will suit me better... take care and have a nice day...

I like Mache in my salad. It tastes so good, even if you don't use any dressing. I also use Romaine lettuce with home made dressing. I am not big fun of spinach in my salad.

I put some green apples and green lettuce in my salad, because it makes the salad to look much colorful in the eyes of the eater, and too look presentable.

Apples and other fruits are very good in salads. Throw some chicken in with that and a few nuts and you have a whole meal in a real flash.Ham is good too, but I like chicken best. With the apples I like grapes and chunks of pineapple. Chunks of bleu cheese are good in the salad as well. Maybe I would have walnuts. I have seen recipes for salads that are strawberries in spinach. I think that would be good with a vinaigrette dressing.

I am like you that I grew up with the Iceburg lettuce and stayed with it until just recently. I really like the butter head and bib lettuce the best. But I also like the Romain and Red Leaf over the iceburg letuce.

That is about all that I like on mine. I do not like a whole lot of vegetables. I wish I could acquire a taste for more but I just can't right now. Maybe it will change as I age. Who knows?

well, I like the lettuces, iceburg (I'm partial to those clumps of lettace - I call them "knots" and Romaine. I'm not really into those other greens, I mean, I love spinich, but I like them cooked and I find arugula bitter. There a mix called "spring greens" that come in those bags, and I find those just nasty, tho the roomie likes them. But, because of something that happened in my early childhood, and I'm not sure what, I seem to taste bitter more strongly than any other flavor - and I really don't taste anything on the tip of my tongue, I feel just find with it, but no taste there.

Hi. danishcanadian. I like spinach, romaine, and iceberg lettuces. I also love darker lettuce greens too. I think that the more darker they are, the more nutritious that they can be.

I like the dark ones too. Romaine has a better taste, more richer in flavor. Iceberg is great for lettuce wraps or tacos.

I like Iceberg lettuce because it's always crispy, but I sometimes replace it with Chinese Leaves. The flavour is different and they're still quite crispy. I also like Watercress and Rocket with my salad and occasionally, if I'm in need of a boost, I'll add some Dandelion leaves or young, fresh Nettle leaves. Brightest Blessings.

I also like the taste of the darker green types of lettuce but I always need the crispiness of iceberg mixed in it. I had never seen iceberg lettuce until I married an American and bought a head of iceberg lettuce in the commissary....but I thought it was a variety of cabbage so I cooked it....YUK what a slimy mess!

I like Romaine, red lettuce, green lettuce, and also spinach leaves in my salad. I would like to have arugula but it is a bit too expensive. If cost were not the problem, I would have a mixed salad with all those types of lettuce, plus that red curly bitter lettuce that I have no idea what it is called, along with avocado. Oh my! I knew there was something I forgot! The avocados!

I think i generally prefer iceberg lettuce in my salads...carrots, cauliflower and a bit of broccoli. If i'm having a Caesar salad its gotta be romaine lettuce. I'm not so fond of things like purple lettuce, spinach or other not very commonly used salad foods. (at least not commonly used in my family.)

I like iceberg lettuce because it´s crispy. I also put rugula, raw spinach, sweet peppers and olives. Sometimes I use diced cheese or tomatoes if they are home grown. The other salad I love is raw zuchinni salad
