Give MyLot (and other sites) a chance!

I normally try not to vent here, but I've been seeing a lot of "Don't waste your time on MyLot (or other sites), it doesn't pay immediately...blah blah blah" conversations. Well...have you given the site enough of a chance? I've made a whole lot more than 17 cents in one day, and that's because I look around to see which interests I'd be interested in talking about, and then actually post more than a sentence or two in my response. A lot of people are on here expecting to make $10 or more in one day, and when that doesn't happen, they start talking about how bad the site is. You can't come in here with that view...you have to be more realistic, otherwise, yes, you will be disappointed and thus start complaining about the site. I just wish that those whose hopes have been dashed wouldn't discourage those who are here to socialize and perhaps make a couple dollars here and there in a reasonable amount of time (not in 3 minutes or 3 days--that's not going to happen). If I've offended anyone, I apologize, but I needed to get this off of my chest.

I'm 61 years old and have to say your right on the money! The young people of today have this thing and it's called "Instant Gratification" this has been going on for awhile. I first noticed this effect in the early 70's and I attribute this , believe it or not to McDonalds the fast hamburger! When I was growing up had to go to the cafe for our hamburgers, and actually had to sit and wait for them, no Ipods or hand held vid. games, we had to talk to one another! WOW! Can you believe it. I'm very serious about this, as I grew and the next generation was rising up I noticed an impatience in the youth. It's, in my opinion, not really their fault as they are a victim of society! I'd lighten up and let them leave to another adventure, it's in their nature to do this! tdemex

Brilliant tdemex! Those are my thoughts too though I don't put all the blame on society but just s part of it - the media. It is them who tell us that we have to have everything or we are no-one and them that have taken away our ability to think and do anything. So many think they should have everything handed to them on a plate and never realise that they will never get something for nothing - so sad

When I worked at a fast-food restaurant three years ago, I'd seen this impatience all the time with customers, particularly those going through the drive-thru window. The thing was, they would get a large order of burgers and then expect to have that order finished in less than five minutes, which was ridiculous considering that that many burgers can't be finished in less than five minutes. Oh, would they get mad at us! Patience is definitely something that's lacking in today's world.

I agree with you...some ppl come here and expect their pc's to start dollar bills out at them, it doesn't work that way. I've been here over 2 years and I've gotten paid numerous times but that's b/c I work at it and when I don't it's b/c of my lack of work that I don't reach payout, not b/c of MyLot. Ppl need to realize it takes time, effort and determination...and their not going to get rich here but it does pay if you work at it. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

i understand that i won't get rich from mylot, and no one said that they want to get $10 as soon as they sign up...but, gheez! $10 pay out at like 2 cents per post. i pay my bills from working at home online. the programs that i deal with pay out, instantly, or in a reasonable amount of time. you don't have to wait 2-3 years to reach pay out. i just use mylot to see who is posting what. it's fun when you have nothing else to do. you guys have to understand that some people are looking to be able to work from home. they are tired of busting their butt in some thankless, boring job/career that they dread, giving up 1/2 their waking existence to some boss that isn't working half as much as they are. give people a break, don't be so hard on youth. i personally don't like dealing with people offline. a great deal of people feel the way i do, whether they want to admit it or not. i tried to make myself into a people person, because society wants you to be. the real me is introverted, and shy. i do much better online, and that why i even bother with mylot. i can vent, talk, post, respond, whatever, and not have to interact with people, live and in person.

That's so very true. Anything that you do in life is going to require time and effort on your part, and this is no exception. Thanks for responding.

Actually there have been ppl that have joined MyLot expecting to walk away right away with a handful of money and also some that have actually thought they would become millionaires here. Neither one will happen. While there are some ppl here that take months and months and months to make payout there are others that easily make payout every month or even more than payout. It honestly depends on how much work you put into it. Here's an example: In April I made over $12 for the month, in May I didn't make payout at all and this month I'm not halfway there yet. Why? Because in April I put the effort out and worked at reaching my payout, in May I had alot of family things going on and didn't make it and this month I've been goofing on my online game and haven't been working much at MyLot. It's all about your own effort. If your looking to support yourself by doing MyLot I don't think your going to make it...it's more for adding to your savings, saving up for a special item or just treat money...it's not meant to make car payments or rent. The money I make on here goes for different things, sometimes it gets donated to animal shelters, or I buy a special dinner for Hubby or I, or a DVD for our collection. Last year I used one of my payouts to buy him a new expansion for his game. MyLot has never failed to pay me when I've reached payout and I know that when I reach it sometime before the 15th of the next month I'll get my payment...that's alot more than you can say for some sites. Good luck with your online work. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Comparing mylot with my previous sites, I prioritize it as it's easier to earn here. Of course we try other paying sites but if we realize that spending our time there is not worth as we would just be earning it in the same way with mylot better to stay here. I can't just ignore my other sites though earning there is quite harder as I enjoy getting along with dear online friends, so if I won't reach the payout at mylot nothing to regret, I'm aware of the reason. Should I want to reach the payout the next month, I would spend more time with it and less time with others. So am no longer affected with what would others will say, what's important, we know very well what to do, if we want to earn more, excert more efforts.

I am sure you did not offend anyone. I think the image people have from MyLot is that this site is a real treasure that opens up for them if they post a lot, and with a lot I mean loads, without even contributing anything to discussions sometimes. Others are contributing a lot but are disappointed. It's just an incorrect approach, money is not a prime thing as it comes secondly as already stated in various original mylot documentations as can be found on the site. It's rather a place to socialize and as a little gift you can make a few dollars which you can spend on a site subscription or something.

This is a very good topic! I have to agree with you a 100% on this. I have been on myLot only for a month now. The first 2 days were disappointing. I was typing my fingers off and was still earning cents. But then I decided to see how I could increase those earnings and took it up as a challenge.A person who had responded to one of my posts, has been a very active member of this site for almost 3 years.I then took pointers from her. I learnt that tasks help in reaching the payout faster. What I earn from here is not bad at all, considering this is more of a socializing site. The most amazing thing about this site is the friends I have made here. They are some of the most wonderful and creative minds I have come across.

I think this is a great post. I joined MyLot on Tuesday and was hoping to see "something" in my earnings the next morning...whether it be a penny or 3 billion dollars, I just wanted to see something...well, I got up this morning and after reading the night before that the site updates after midnight...there was NOTHING there so I was a little discourgaed......well, by the time I got home from work today...I had a small amount in my earnings...so now I am happy...lol...I dont expect to make a lot of money quick here-I am really just here to meet people and make a buck or two in the process....but seeing "something" is certainly better than seeing "nothing"... Great post, by the way.

Well, first of all, I think it's funny anymore that people are turning to the internet to make money. Wouldn't we all sit in front of the computer to make hundreds of dollars each week? Surely people wouldn't be taking anymore jobs at McDonald's or a local mini-mart. You are so right-people complain, complain, complain of lowered earnings, but seriously, what are the requirements for gaining "employment" here on MyLot? Um......have a computer. So this is obviously worth at least 10 an hour right?? I made $19 dollars one month and I was stoked!! I have not been active in over 2 years here on MyLot, so I am anxious to see what the payouts will be. Oh, and by the way, this, for me, is the ONLY site that I found that is NOT a scam and does actually pay-even if it's ony a few pennies a day.

I agree with all what you said. Your words are very inspiring and it is good to give a short lecture sometimes for those who find mylotting a waste of time and not working to their advantage. I have been here more than 3 years and I can say mylot has been my second home ever since. I am still here despite knowing that the payment is not good. Though am also looking for opportunities to earn some extra money to pay for my internet fees but I view mylot as an exceptional site where I am here for social interaction with people from all walks of life, sharing views on many topics which have taught me many things that I can never get to learn in my lifetime. Though there are many social networking sites but only when you are here you'll know the truth of people from other social sites compared to mylot. They are 360 degrees different characteristics compared to mylot. Here they are many intellectual thinking people while some sites are more to dating and the like. You need not apologize as this is a discussion and you are in for a debatable discussion. Be prepared for people coming up with their razor tongues.

This is actually similar to the discussion i posted about Mylot is a test of patience : http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2045402.aspx?p=4#2_19609260. its because we need to stay her and post, that's how you earn. One post/discussion doesn't give you $10 a day, it takes time and it takes a lot of patient and hard work. That's what they do when they don't get to earn sooner after posting, they get disappointed. And yes, they're not giving the site a chance. Good for us that we stick around and was able to get paid from the site

Well there are a lot of people on here with a lot of different view points on this subject. I know that it's more difficult then people would first want to imagine it is, making money on here, or online in general. Rules have to be kept no matter what, offline or online. People sometimes don't realize this until they've had their rant and vent, and feel better. Then again some get hyped up, and don't make as much as they thought they should. Well I guess really all I have to say is, people should follow the "don't knock it until you try it" method, because this isn't like a real job, your not going to go in for eight hours and then get paid $100-$200 if not more a week. Lol, sorry this rant isn't towards you!

You haven't offended me and actually I think you have made a really valid point. People probably only say bad things about this site because they are completely unrealistic about the earning potential. They are trying to make quick money by posting maybe 100 posts but only having a couple of words per post, and that's not going to make them very much money at all.

Very much true.. give Mylot and other site a chance. Besides what can we lose if we don't try, this site is free, we haven't paid anything to sign up and yet Mylot has been paying us. I don't think the whining will be a solution to a problem. I always see members here trying to say that they are disappointed in Mylot. But if they have to at least try and enjoy, then this site is really good. Although it is not a Get- Rich Quick Program that is why most people misunderstood Mylot. They really are after money and they know that there is easy money online. It is important for us to understand that making money online is such a hard work and dedication of time also. This will never be considered as a full time or regular job but only a part time or for some extra cash. Earning something is better than nothing. That is why I enjoy my stay here and to other sites that really pays, even not much, but at least it gives an honest amount.

I personaly have not read any of the discussions that you are saying but that is wrong. I'm talking about people writing things about mylot with out trying there best on there coments or responses so it might actually help them get more. I starter maybe two months ago and I have a long way to go to reach the minimum but I do try my best every time I coment a discussion or start a discussion. I have not been so active the past few days and I want to be more active because it a little hard for me to post more coments because of my family and also I'm a slow typer. But I do try and I think that the people that might be writing those negative coments about mylot just don't want to try their best. And if they really don't like it hear they should just look for some other site that might be better for them. I like mylot I have not got a single payment so far but I like it hear and like I said I'm try my best to get to the pay out amount. Happy Mylotting to All and have a Great Day.

Well, you haven't offended me, but I totally agree with you. I think if people come here with high expectations, then they're going to be disappointed. I'm pretty impressed that we get paid at all! And I'm just thankful for that. And it's not like any of us get paid right away with a job, right? No, we have to WORK for it! So, it makes sense and is only fair that we have to work for our earnings here on MyLot.

Very good. It is about time, that someone spoke up, and said it like it is. Yes, i do agree with you. Too many people, expect to make a paycheck in a day or a week, and most won't even try to do any work, or type in a few words.

I agree that people need to give mylot a chance and understand that it takes a while to earn here. Appreciate the people and the friends you can make. I would like to say that mylot however needs to be a bit better about letting people know that they have broken the rules and are pushing being suspended or banned and what they did wrong so they can FIX the problem rather than just up and banning them.

Well we should respect what other people say about mylot. It is true that it's really hard to earn money here. But we all know that mylot pays its members on time and that it is a good site. People who say that mylot is not a good site are the ones who only thinks of money or the ones who doesn't have the patience in posting here or maybe the ones who does have a hard time thinking of things that they will write here. Happy posting..

Well said! I've only been a member for a few weeks, but I get so frustrated when people complain about there earnings. They don't seem to realise that quality, not quantity is what counts on Mylot. It's better to write one 6 line response than six one-liners, because you have to think about your reputation as well as your earnings. And people need to post interesting discussion topics, not just 'What did you have3 for breakfast?' or 'What's your favourite shampoo?' I admit I joined because of the paid posts, but within a couple of hours, it was the discussions, not the earnings that I was bothered about. Interestingly, since I've concentrated on making quality responses and posting interesting or controversial discussions, my earnings have increased dramatically.

Yes, actually you are right...we should think that myLot is not just for earning extra income. This site helps me a lot. The discussions give me more information. I am also starting to gain new friends here.
