something you love and enjoy? I was talking to a neigbour the other nite and was telling him how I believe that you should do a job that you love. He stated that is not true but to me I could not agree with that. I myself feel I do what I like which is being online and learning and earning. SO my question about life is this do you feel a job should be something you love or just something that you have to do? Let me know thanks:)

How about a job that pays enough for you to live properly and have enough to make ends meet and take care of your kids properly and have a savings for retirement and emergencies.

I don't deal to much in dreams as none of mine in life have materialized after 1/2 a century. However.. I had a really good job I loved doing.. mortgage loan processing. This was before the you-know-what hit the fan. I protested all of the ones I was forced to do to the point that they wouldn't give them to me anymore to process, but gave them to another processor.. But the sturcture and all of figuring out if thyey qualify and which program and all the things needed.. kind of like a scavenger hunt to get all the right pieces needed to complete the puzzle. I got really good at it and had it down to a science. Everyone begged for me to be their processor as I ever loan I ever did was funded - honestly and truthfully. They did kind of hassle me when they asked me to forge signatures or forge documents and I wouldn't do it. I told them if they want that done... do it yourself. Of course they weren't going to do it and they reported me to the boss who took me into a meeting and got on me for not doing it and I told her the same thing...I wont' forge anything for anyone for any loan. If that isn't proper company ediquette, fire me. But either fire me or leave me alone, cause I am not forging anything. They left me alone, but gave those files to other processors. ANyway, I was good and what happened? I was taken advantage of. over worked cause they knew I needed the money as my husband was unemployed and I had kids and couldn't afford to quit. Raise time came around and of course there was never money for that.. but through out the year there was always money being spent on the boss'es personal life...month long cruises, new homes, new cars for her and her family, new clothes, best of everything.. but never a cent for a raise to me that supported the company so many times cause no other processor would stay. I could go on, but will stop... but you see one of the many reasons why I don't bother with dreams. Why hope for something you are most likely not to get. I'll wait and if it happens... I'll be thrilled. But when it doesn't, at least I won't be dissapointed.

I think that people can sometimes think more of the money then any other reason. Maybe that's what this neighbor was thinking more of. Who can blame him in an unstable economy? However, I have to say that I agree with you more. Having fun whilst making money can make a world of difference, and you can always build up through the ranks and make more money through promotions, offering assistance outside of work, etc. lol. Sorry I am playing Simsocial, a game on the sims 3 site, I guess that's why I mentioned ranks. However, it's still true for real life.

Hi, i entirely agree with you. I would prefer to work on something or someplace which gives me satisfaction, even if i am paid less. There`s no point on doing something when you don`t enjoy it even if the remuneration is good. I used to work at a place where there was a lot of harassment from the admin even thought the work and pay was not bad. I left it and got another job, where i was paid well and the work too was enjoyable. Money is important but not that important.I am now retired and doing what i please, just like you and enjoying it too. lol

hmm, I have to agree to both, you and your neighbor. Sometimes we end up with a job that we don't like, but still because our body need food and we have to feed others, therefore, whether like it or not, we had to proceed with that job. Not everybody can end up with a job they like. in this situation, we have to like the job, if not we are going to feel stress. Ok, let say, one day, your online earning cannot earn you much, what will you do? Maybe some will presevere, but it has to be logical right. When it trully needs, you need to find other job, right?

I understand what you mean but sometimes we live way beyond our means. For example if I own two cars which some people do is that a need? I say no unless you are keeping the other one for backup and even then you are paying car insurance for 2 cars instead of one car. I guess it depends on what your needs are and what you want out of life. For me I make money online and it seems to be doing rather well so if I budget what I have then I think I am doing okay. I could always use more money but life to me is way more imporant than money. Take care and happy mylotting to you ucue2008

I know right? This is the way it should be put forth effort reap the rewards and then help others get where you are. But to me so many people are so greedy nowadays they feel the need to just work and work and work. I will tell you I know someone that owes money on a old car and she gets barely any of her check I feel for her but to me I would just find another job and do what I love that way I am not unhappy because my money is so low. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

I would much rather have a job that I love to do or do not mind doing. It has to be peaceful also. I used to work outside of the home and hated it. I now work from home online daily and I love it.

Well, its only later that i realized that i ended the job that i really love. I used to wonder before when my uncle is still a manager in one of the biggest phone company locally, i used to tell him i wanted to work in directory dept or inquiries dept. When i applied for this job, i really didnt know what the work is all about, it just happened that theres a job opening in a call center and i get this email from the job site that i registered. When i got the job and finally started taking calls, just then that i realize that i love what im doing. So yes, i agree when you say that its best if you get a job that you really like, that way you wont have to jump from one company to another.

Mom, That is a question that has bothered folks for a long time and I can see both sides of the issue. I have worked at jobs that I did not "love" some that I did not even like but I worked until I found something that I did like. I think that is the key and may have been what your neighbor was thinking when he/she made their response to you. A person will be more productive working in a job that they enjoy but unless they are just plain lazy they will work in jobs they don't like until one comes along that they enjoy.

a job is a dream job if it is something you'd like to do for a long time.it is something you'll build a career on.a dream job is a job you'll do even if you don't get paid for it.it is not a dream job if it is something that you don't see yourself doing for a long time.maybe you're in that job because of monetary reasons.

I think you should be doing the job that you like and not just the job that you must to do. I knew some people who does not stay in a company because of the lack of interest that he has on his current job which is pretty far from his interests. I think for a person to be happy and contented, he should be able to do what he likes.

It honestly depends. A job is generally something that you do just to pay the bills and, in that sense, how well you love your work is negligible. However, this doesn't mean that you should do something that you absolutely can't stand. A career, on the other hand, is something that you invest yourself in, soyou should choose something that you enjoy as a career. There is one thing to keep in mind, though. When turning something that you love into either a job or a career, be careful which thing you choose. Think about what you love and why you love it. There may be some things that, if you were to turn them into a career, your enjoyment of them would be ruined. Often, the career aspects of certain activities are much different than the recreational aspects.

I think that you should definately do something that you love. Look at volunteer work the physical pay is crappy but personal self worth is increased. If you hate the job that your doing your quality of work will not be as good as say someone who loves there job, and you might not make the extra effort. When you hate your job you dread going to work the customers can tell it

My dream job is to become a movie or entertainment transcription. I want to put up caption on videos. Actually my present job is enough, but it will be so much good if my employer will have a future for us. I wish it has a training and different seminars so as our training and experience at work will increase. I hope that job will be given a chance their employee to grow and succeed. Hope the employer are supportive. I am just a shallow person, if that job the employers cares for their employees needs I stay with it. And of course if they will add the salary annually with some additional benefits for sure i will stay long there. Some employers don't care for their employees like what i had experience in my present job. They don't see what good performance their employee is showing to them, they only see their mistake. In this case, they only make their employee look for other job because their performance is not appreciated.

I feel that is you can make a living from doing something you love and still love even when it is critical to your financial well being, then you are a very fortunate person and it is something which I strive towards on a daily basis. But I can also see a flip side to the arguement as I know of people who have gone about making a living from something they loved only to lose all enjoyment from doing it because it was so critical to their financial well being.

I love to do anything crafty. I would love to work in a craft store, or perhaps a fabric store. That would be my ideal job.

Hello Momtrying. Work is a very big part of life for almost all of us. It impacts how we feel and behave, so why would anyone deliberately choose any job they did not love? Sometimes, we have to do work we don't especially enjoy to earn money to live on until we are able to pursue the work we truly want to do. But absolutely, we should do something we love. Karen
