Does comedy play a big role in your life?

In the last couple of days I have had the occasion to seek out something that would lift my spirits in a major way, so I turned to a tried-and-true form of entertainment that always manages to bring out the laughter in me. That would be comedy. I love comedy and comedians. Thinking back over the years I believe my very first favorite comic was Red Skelton. I remember as a child that I was always glued to the TV set when his weekly show was on. He made me laugh even when I didn't feel like laughing. I later fell in love with the likes of Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, and George Burns humor. Comedians are very special people to me, and I think they deserve much more attention than they usually receive. I don't like all comedy, since I find some of it to be tasteless and inappropriate, but I have had the pleasure of watching some of the best in the business over the past five decades. Does really great comedy matter to you?

Hi worldwise, We human have different levels of humour and there fore different people and different mood and all this is due to our humour. Now that you are in love of comedy you are more tilted towards comic thing that nudge you laughter and you know one who can really laugh possesses good health. Personally I am not sure if I really vent for comedy but well presented ones surely would have good effect on me as I feel sure about that.

To laugh, krajibg, makes us human I believe. I would not want to live in a world without humor.

Yes, comedy in my life is very important. I love to laugh. Love to make others laugh. One thing that might bring up your spirits is to go to a nearby daycare and listen to the kids play and laugh. This is great! The old comedians are great. The old Steven Alen show and the Cavett Show were great. You can get [his first name is shortened name for Richard. Mylost won't let me put it on here] Cavett on DVD now. He has some great interviews and always has something humorous and positive to say. Great stuff! Hope it helps.

More and more lately my apartment is the daycare, celticeagle! Well, not quite, but since my oldest daughter has been staying with me sometimes we have all 4 of her grandchildren over to spen the night. It's like a madhouse around here.I used to watch both Cavett and Steve Allen all the time.

You have named some of my favorites. Who did not like Red Skelton, he was such a gentle soul. I find most current comedy tasteless, though. I love to laugh. Someone on here asked about funny movies and that brought back great memories as well. We all need to laugh more.

Red Skelton was the best, GG! I also was quite fond of Jonathan Winters. I don't want to go back too far because I might discover that I'm actually older than I thought!

Not as much as it use to. Back in the 70's I saw a lot of cartoons and sit coms. But now I rarely watch comedies. I do have a good sense of humor and I am told I say a lot of funny things but I don't see that many comedies. When I want to feel better, I see a good action film or a suspense film. It is even hard for me to tell you what is my favorite funny film or comedian.I guess my taste has changed.

I prefer the young Eddie Murphy. I liked his stand up in the 80's, Raw. The Eddie today is too " for the whole family " for me. I like Steve Martin too. Did you see L.A. Story? It is one of my favs. It is rare to find a romantic comedy I will like.

There is always a place in my heart for a great comedian, sarah. I like anything with Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker, or Seth MacFarland.

Comedy don't really play a big role in my life but we definitely need them. Without them there won't be entertainment, there won't be laughter. The world will have no joy, everyone will became 'dull' and no-life..hmm, maybe i might sound like i am exaggerating..but that's what comedy means to me. Tey bring me entertainment and joy. [:

Perhaps, Janetx3, comedy plays a bigger role in your life than you realize.

Ironically I have just spend a couple of hours curl up on my bed watching Golden Girls which I absolutely adore and they always make me laugh no matter how many times I watch each episode. Because it is filmed in the USA the later dvds are not released in the UK, I have series 1-3, when I was out the other day in HMV I managed to find series 4 playing in the Europe 2 region, so I bought it, I put in on tonight and I was in hysterics. Comedy does play a big role in my life because when I am feeling blue I like nothing better to switch on a comedy. I also love Malcolm in the Middle which is also a US comedy, I used to watch it on Sky and I am sure they are available on DVD now.

I agree there is nothing like watching comedy that makes me happy. I like Carol Burnett , Viki Lawarence, Estili Getty, Tim Conway, as well as Lucille Ball. They are all really funny. The older comedians are funnier to me then a lot of todays are.

I love comedy, I suffer from depression and sometimes my comedy DVD's have really helped me get through some difficult times. I also have respect for the comedians who did it before they were allowed to say whatever they wanted as there was more thought and art put into making people laugh. You don't have to come out and say dirty things it's more of an art to just suggest it and let people think what they like.

Comedy plays a major part in my life. More than I realized until a few months ago.. Through my work mates I discovered so many comedians and HBO specials. When ever I feel sad, I love to watch comedy.. It will always lift your spirits
