I don't have a kid, but I have seen many kids addicted to cartoons. My neighbour's kid will eat only when his mother allows him to watch cartoon. Many kids are addicted to Disney channel and Pogo. When I was a kid, Mougli, Shrek, and Aladin were my heros, but my parents never allowed me to watch cartoon channels in excess and get addicted to it. Is it happening now? Does your kid like cartoon channels? What are his/her favorite cartoon programs? Is your kid addicted to cartoons? Do you take any measures so that your kid won't get addicted to cartoons.

I think that is a stage they are passing through for many kids of this time. I do remember when I was young too that I did pass through an age that I was also addicted watching all kinds of cartoons. But then, there was a time that I also lost my taste towards it when i reach adult age. Now, I still am watching cartoons from time to time but not like it was before. I think we cannot do anything about it but regulating them would not be bad at all for them to balance their addiction to it.

I think moderating them from watching it is a good way to divert their attention to some other things too.

You have a valubale point. The taste for cartoons change with respect to your age. Kids are mainly fond of cartoons and I was also kind of addicted to cartoons when I was a kid. But, my parents restricted because they didn't want my eyes to get spoiled by always looking at the TV. They also wanted me to participate in outdoor games and learn swimming, and read books. Thanks for the response.

Yes, you are right. Each kid is different in his interests and hobbies. The way your kids does seems like he will become a big police officer in future. Anyway, encourage and support his interests whatever be it. It is good not to force kids to go for something which he doesn't like. I think he will be interested to become a police officer. Thanks for the response.

My boys love cartoons too, I let them watch playhouse disney since it is educational compared to the other cartoon channels. I always remind them that they are not allowed to watch cartoon until they have finished their assignments first. Good thing my boys are quite active so they would rather run around the house than sit in of the television all day. hehehe

That is good. Usually I have seen boys are more active compared to girl babaies and they are interested to play outdoor games than sitting infront of TV. It is good for them to watch cartoons, not in excess. Cartoons provide a lot of information and good ones help to develop good qualities in children. Thanks for the response.

well, most of the children will love cartoons. My kids love cartoons so much but will never against what I ask her to do. If it comes to eating time, then she has to turn the TV off. her favorite cartoon is X-man and other stuff that she enjoy

X-man is very interesting and there is no doubt your kid is vey fond of it. It is good that you switch off TV while eating so that the kid will concentrate in eating. It is nice to watch cartoons, but the issue is too much is not good. Now a days kids are using TV and computer a lot and it might spoil their tender eyes. Thanks for the response.

Yes, my 2 kids are addicted to cartoons. They watch almost all the shows on Cartoon Network. I limit their TV time and with the limited time available to them they spend it on watching cartoons. Among their favorites are Tom and Jerry, Ben 10, Spiderman (animated) and Justice League(animated).

It is nice to hear that you are able to limit the time of your kids watching cartoons. That is good. Spiderman and Tom and Jerry were my favorites too when I was a kid. It depends on the age. Now, my hero is my husband. Lol. We cannot resisit children completely from watching cartoons because cartoons also provides a lot of learning aspects. Thanks for the response.

My boy is only 1 year old and he loves cartoons. He watches everything from Winnie to Pooh to Thomas and Friends. And the best part of the cartoons that he likes is when there are songs because he will be happily dancing along. Real cute. He watches them so often that even my Indonesian maid now have learnt most of the songs and sing them to him. I just hope that he does not get addicted to them in the long run, especially when he grows older and starts schooling.

That is very cute Rodlkm. I am imagining and one year old boy watching cartoon and dancing. What is his name? I would like to have a baby boy, but my husband likes to have a baby girl. Anyway, let me see what god gives me - I might get a baby girl and boy at a go. Lol. Thank you so much for the response.

I don't have any kids, but I see your point some kids are just stubborn and need to be taught otherwise. Then you have the kids that just want what they want and they need to be taught otherwise too harshly dealt with. Me I like cartoons just to get my mind off other things kind of a way to relax and ease my mind from the world. When I have kids tho they won't watch TV til all that needs to be done is done. I really don't think it is a matter of an addiction to cartoons but a matter of discipline; can't let kids make the rules

Hi Kmaram! Thanks for the response. I forgot to tell a avaluable piont, but that is told by you. Yes, we should not close our eyes on the fact that kids are learning a lot of new words by watching cartoons. Cartoons having moral stories also help them to know more about good qualities and build them in their life. Thanks again.

I have to kids one is 11 and the other is 1 and I don't think that they are addicted but they do like to watch cartoons. My 11 year old like cartoon but she also like other programs but I think so far her favory cartoon might be Sponge Bob. My 1 year old like to watch TV but when I put Disney chanel in the morning when the show cartoons and programs for younger kids he would be dansing and claping to the soongs. Also he like Sponge Bob I don't know if it's the music or the color but he would be also staring at the TV and when the songs come un he would also dance and clap. I don't think that either of my kids are addicted because they do other things like playing outside or inside. My daugher likes to play with her frinds when ever she has a chance ither outside playing water games or in the house but inside they would mostly talk and talk all the time. My 1 year old like to play with the dog all over the house but I will always be behind them making sure he those not hurt him self. I do take him out side but when there is not that hot so he can walk around and trying to get everything.

It's ok that kids are addicted to cartoons. They can watch what ever thay want except naked girls. Kids will get to old to watch cartoons, but while they're little - why not? Let the kids watch their cartoons, they will understand that cartoons are nothing and useful in their lives. Kids should be able to watch anything they want

Well, most of the kids love cartoons. My niece is 12 years old, she really likes cartoons. Nothing can disturb her when she was intently watching cartoons so usually we have to pretend angry to stop her. But I don't think she is addicted. She is fond of eating, reading, singing and swimming.

The older ones like some cartoons but addicted no. The TV is basically only on at night. During the day for maybe a movie but then we are doing chores, cleaning and outside. Our 2 year old gets to watch things like Happy Feet and Shrek (sp?) those are her to favorite movies. She watches one at night if she refuses to go to bed so that I can clean up after supper and do a few things. Other then that she is doing what a 2 year old is suppose to do, play and get dirty.. LOL! As for watching TV while eating that is a big no-no in our home. Once in awhile my hubby will do that if we have extra kids here and there is no room to sit. We need a bigger table! lol

My 2 year old girl must have cartoons everyday. The very first thing she does in the morning when waking up is go to the living hall to on the TV. The next thing she does is shouting and asking me to change the channel for her, her favorite cartoon channel.

Hello daliaj this is checkmail and me too don't have any childrens, but have my niece and nephew who are quiet a lot addicted to cartoons.Even I was addicted to cartoon when was a child, mostly skip nearly everything for cartoons. Now just watch in order to play my niece and nephew, teaching them as well as enjoyig myself. They really do ask silly questions about it, and me too answer it in some silly way.Well I have to try too hard to convince them that the cartoon hour is over, same was with me in childhood.Well the cartoons are a good way of fun entertaintment which even children and adults enjoy, but if watched crazily then its addiction. GoodLuck.
