Time To Start Cleaning...

Well, some ppl may notice some Best Responses from me, their ratings may go up and they may see some of my old discussions coming back up. Some ppl may also see some friend requests in their boxes.
I started cleaning up my discussions. I use Gmail for MyLot and so I have all my responses to discussions I've started in a folder. I finally took a couple days and sorted them all out. Now I am going through them all giving out Best Response, rating all the responses and sending friend requests to those that responded and I wanted to add. Considering I have 711 discussions that I have started since joining here, it's a huge job. I did some a long time ago (maybe 50 of them) but it's still a lot. I hope everyone is patient with me

When was the last time you cleaned up your discussions? Do you do Best Response and ratings at the same time? Do you check out ppl's profiles to see if their friends or if you want them to be friends while your doing it?

I clean as I go because I know that if I had to tackle such a large number of discussions all at once I would keep procrastinating! I go through and award BRs once a week or so if I can. I have been behind lately because it has been school holidays here for the last two weeks and time has not been my own; I had to do ‘kid things’ with my daughter (lol)! Good on you for tackling such a big spring clean; you’ll feel really good about yourself when you’re done!

I honestly forget to do the best responses. I do as many as I can when I think of it. It is an undertaking. I have quite afew. I appreciate reminders like this so I can get afew more done. It is weird how quickly they add up. What do you mean by 'ratings'? I really need to get busy and get them up to date. I will go do some that now. Thanks for the reminder.

By rating I mean that on the side of each response there are three little boxes with +-! in them. You rate the response and if it's positive it makes the persons rating go up...eventually their star goes up too with enough rating. The minus is rarely used...I only use it if they've violated the rules like cussing me out LOL The ! is for reporting someone say for cheating or something.

I only have one or two that needs best responses, I probably have a few that needs to be responded back to. But mostly I have a inbox full of unanswered discussions that others have written since I have all my friends on to get notifications if they start a discussion. I have a few though that start them but I don't get the notifications so I also have to go digging around in profiles to see who has started discussions that I didn't receive in my inbox. I have 200 almost to answer. Seems the more i do the more I get to take their place so it can take me awhile to get tot them some weeks..

I did this a few weeks ago. But I had not realized that I had so many that I had not taken care of. I still have some to do. I will get them done sometime, hopefully soon. But I have felt bad and coming home from Canada I am just worn out.

I have some of mine to go through again also. I am not sure how much it affects our own ratings though. I try to keep mine cleared out also. I have not started any discussions for a long time. I need to get caught up on my old ones too. I rate everyone though. I never check the friend list first either.

I don't know how to clean my discussions. They are in my profile and should be there undisturbed. Yes, I did give out my BR but there are still pages of unresolved discussions that need my attention. I rate after each comments that I have given out. Normally when I start new discussions I get few friends request along the way. Yes, when time permits and out of curiosity I will check individual profile to know more about the poster and the activities they have participated in the past.

Hi Twoey.
I started doing the same just over the weekend. It is certainly a lot of work. I hate falling behind as it just takes too much to go back. So far I think I have responded to all the comments on my discussions but I still have some BRs and rating to do.
I only request friendship if the person somehow interest me and I do check their profile. I do this even when I am accepting a request.

Sounds like u really have a job to do. I wouldn't want to get that far behind i'd never catch up. When i get a friend's request i always look at their profile first & the decide whether to add them as a friend. I try to rate my responses pretty soon after a discussion,

I have less than 5 unresolved discussions. One of the reasons for this is that I haven't been starting that many due in part to time constraints and connection issues and just having too many other things to do.
Have gone through old discussions and responded to comments I didn't realize were there though.

Hi twoey, that's an awful lot of discussions you started. I have the habit of looking through my unresolved list at least once a week, if it appears to have run out of steam I will then rate it and award best response. When I get a good response whilst on a discussion I will usually check the profile and if we have similar interests may request them as a friend. I check every friend request and often deny as no common interests involved. I have worried though that by denying friends requests it could end up with them giving me negative ratings but I purely do it for lack of shared interests. I have added some friends who write interesting stuff and am not suprised to see that they are often very young, whilst on the other hand some other very young users have much younger intersts than mine.

Hi twoey68! That's a lot of discussions. I see by the number beside your username that you have been here a long time. I probably need to start cleaning mine out one of these days. I've been rating all of the discussions and responses as I read them. I also enjoy giving out best responses. Happy mylotting! Kathy.

I've been here 2-3 years and I've only cleaned them up once in all that time. I'm terrible about putting some things off. Some things I keep on top of but other things I keep putting off.

I usually keep my unresolved discussions pretty much up to date. I check them every couple of months and try not to let more than 10 or 15 of them accumulate.

Yes I do best response and ratings at the same time as well on each discussion. I haven't cleaned up after all my discussions yet but I am trying to get through most of them since I can't do them all at once. I just look at the unresolved tab and there goes my unresolved discussions so I start it there.

I don't always do mark a best response as I like to leave some of my discussions open but if I am having a problem & a fellow mylotter helps & it works, I will mark a best response. I do try & rate respones, etc as I go but it doesn't always work out that way...I think one of these days, I will have to sit down & do what you've been doing.

I don't start to many discussions but, I rate as the comments come in. I usually wait a few months to give a best response. I wish you luck in your quest LOL

I keep any of my mylot responses in a Mylot folder on my yahoo account. I save only what I want to save. as far as my best respoese, I wait to see how many respoeses I get ant then rate them. I have been so backed up with ansering mylot post that I have not had the time to do some of that.
