That is a shame. My husband has that problem too. Broccoli is a good choice although I know not as good as pizza or ice cream.

I feel your pain tiffany...i am not lactose intoleraant, but i am lactose sensitive (this means i can handle some dair products, like cheese and yogutrs with out difficulty usually, but when it comes to druinking a glass of milk or sitting downto a bowl of icecream i am in for some discomfot later). I do indulge occasionally...though my boyfriend always regrets it later on if he takes me out for ice cream...to put it politely, ice cream makes me kind of gassy) I have tried using pills like Lactaid and others, and they do work, i just often times don't hve them with me or forget to take them before i choose to enjoy dairy products. They can get pricy too, so i use them and enjy dairy products only on certina occasions. Have you tried them? they do help.

Sometimes, although more usually I will eat a bowl of cheerios, maybe with a banana cut up on it. The combination of fats, carbs, and proteins help you stay asleep longer and wake up more energetic. I have also been known to wake up at night if I have not snacked and a cup of hot cocoa helps me relax and go back to sleep if that happens.

I love hot cocoa in the winter, sugar free of course. It warms my bones.

No I don't drink milk before bed, dairy products bother me and my body creates more calcium then it should naturally so I actually have to avoid dairy products or any products with dairy in them. I usually pass out on the couch every night anyways, so I have no problem falling asleep, sometimes I have trouble staying asleep, but never any problem getting there.

They advised me to drink a glass of milk and i did try because i really am having trouble sleeping after work. i work at night so every possible hindrance of getting to bed is always around. it takes hours for me to get to sleep believe me. but drinking milk is not for me. i get problems with my stomach in the office because of milk. well theres no problem of me drinking milk but i get LBM or something at work. hahahha..

For me, it depends on the night. Most nights I'm so tired that I pass out almost immediately and it's not really a problem. But if I can't seem to fall asleep then I'll go heat up a little milk and drink it. And yes, I needed it heated. I like warm milk (not really warm...I only put it on for maybe 5 seconds to make it room temperature).

I don't drink milk. The smell nauseates me. I don't have problems with curd but I cannot stand the smell of Milk! But I can have milkshakes and other forms where milk is mixed. I do prefer to have some fruit juice than a glass of milk before bed.

Doesn't the sugar in the juice keep you awake? I can't drink juice before bed, I would not be able to sleep, but if it works for you then that is good.

Yep, I usually do. However, I didn't know that's what the experts say to do. I just do it because it helps fill my tummy up quickly before I hit the sack. That, and it also helps quench my thirst at the same time. Milk, the perfect meal before bedtime! Happy mylotting!

hhmmm if it helps me sleep I need to start drinking some before bed!! Usually I am downing the rest of a can of Dr. Pepper so it doesn't go to waste then suffering acid reflux. Marsha

You might want to put the Dr. Pepper in the fridge and save that for the morning. The sugar in there alone will keep you up at night, and I think it has caffeine too which will make it hard to get to sleep, not to mention the acid reflux. Two hours before bed I only drink and I only let the kids drink milk or water before bed. Nothing with sugar or caffeine. You could also try a nice cup of camomile tea, even make it in to an ice tea if you are accostomed to cold drinks at night.

I never drink milk before going to bed. I dislike it. But I prefer to drink a class of water before bed time. A frest cold water gives me satisfaction and the uitlity is 100%.

Nope, I don't drink milk before going to sleep. I don't like it. I drink coffee sometimes few hours before going to sleep. I'm a coffee addict rather than a milk addict. ^^

I used to drink milk before bedtime. A warm glass of milk.It would really help me drift off into la la land. I think I should get back to that habit. Its a good habit, mainly for women coz as we age , the chances of osteoporosis is always there and at that time all we can really do is curse ourselves for not having had enough dairy products when we were younger and then eat those calcium pills. You gave me a good idea. Thanks!

I agree it is a nice way to get in an extra serving of calcium every day. I have started drinking a glass of chocolate milk as a treat in the afternoons to ensure that I am getting enough calcium every day.

I try not to drink anything before I go to bed. I don't want to wake up in the middle of my sleep and have to go to the restroom. LOL! My 9 year old daughter does occasionally have milk before she goes to bed.

No way! I hate milk it makes my stomach turn! A lot of dairy does that to me such as butter, and cream. I drink a hot fruit tea or hot water with lemon before I head off to the land of nod!

Since I am diabetic, I have found that a regular 4 oz bottle of milk before bed helps me sleep and keeps me from waking up sick. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I used to drink milk before going to bed. But now, I don't drink milk anymore. Even if it helps me to sleep faster and well, I get pimples from it and I gain weight.

Hi, ladym33. I normally don't. But I have when I felt like the milk would have helped me eased into sleep though. I know from my 6th grade gym class, in our health book, experts said that milk carried an ingredient that aided in helping a person go to sleep. It started with the Letter T. It is a long word.

I have never done that, but perhaps I should try. I always get reflux before bed. The reflux then keeps me awake all night because it hurts so badly. I wonder if milk would help settle my stomach. I know there is something in milk that is supposed to help you sleep. I think I'll try tonight.
