hair permanently removed through a laser hair removal center or any other means? If you have, what did you use? Was it very expensive? Was it effective? Did it hurt? I love the idea of never having to shave my legs again as shaving can be such a chore, but I would like to know if there is really such a thing as permanent hair removal or does it eventually grow back no matter what you've used? Before I forget I just found a product online called Finally Free, that claims to be more effective than most of the other products out there. I wonder if this really works, because I'm almost tempted to get it. So, would you ever get permanent hair removal? Why or why not?

Shaving leg hair... UGGH! I hate it, too. I used to use something called an Epilady but I'm not sure if they're still on the market. They yanked several hairs out at a time and it HURT! It also seemed to miss the really small, fine hairs. So, I started tweezing those small hairs. I also bought a home electrolysis machine that did work. What I noticed, though, was that not all the hairs were growing back... ever! My mother went for electrolysis treatments and it was explained to her that each hair follicle has two hairs, not one. One hair grows and is eventually shed but not before the second hair starts to grow to replace the shedded one. (That's the reason why we don't all eventually go bald because we lose approximately 100 hairs per day from our heads, but new hairs are replacing them.) So, in order for any of these things to get rid of hair permanently, you have to get rid of the first hair, then get rid of the second hair before another one starts to grow. There are two hair roots in every follicle that need to be destroyed so that no more hair grows back, ever. I know it's weird, but I've been tweezing my leg hairs for a few years now, whenever I have the time. I have very few hairs growing back on my legs now! It really works! Naturally, I started with those thicker hairs and, once they stopped growing back, I started working on the finer hairs. I honestly do not have many hairs growing back on my legs now! The trick is to pull out that second hair before a new one starts to grow. If you do it often enough, that part is easy. As for laser hair removal, I have no idea. I've never tried it or know of anyone who has. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. I just thought I'd share what is working for me.

Tweezing your leg hairs? That sounds like an awfully long process, not to mention painful! Ouch! Though on the plus side tweezers don't cost much, but still I couldn't imagine going through all that. Wouldn't home electrolysis machines work then if the second hair is caught in time? I've heard that it can take several treatments before the hairs are finally gone for good. Thanks for your input mentalward. You're always so helpful, even if you are a little weird. Just kidding!

Aren't we all? LOL You have a lot more patience than I do as I wouldn't want to go through all that work plucking each individual hair out. Would you mind checking out Finally Free for me? Maybe you can help me decide if I should get it or not. However, I have to say at this point I'm really tempted to. Here's the link to their site: http://www.nevershaveagain.com/info.aspx Thanks!

Oh, that's okay, I AM a little weird! Yeah, tweezers to take a long time. I think I got bored and gave it a try. That's what got me started. Of course, I'm one of those people who has to constantly be doing something, even when sitting and watching TV. I started near my ankles and only did that area until no more hairs were growing, then went up my legs in small increments, while shaving the rest if I had something special to do where I wore a dress, shorts or skirt. Yes, electrolysis probably works better than my method. Actually, I'm sure it does. Well, much faster, anyway. I've had both kinds of those home electrolysis machines, one used a very thin wire that you had to push down into the hair follicle (it doesn't hurt), then zap it with electricity. The other was like tweezers, only they sent the electricity down through the hair itself. That one didn't work quite as well. My mother had to go have two treatments on each section because of the two hairs and, at $50.00 per treatment (way back about 30 years), it's too expensive for me!

I never had it done but if I could afford it I would really like to try it out and see if it really was effective. So far from what I checked laser hair removal is still a bit pricey so big areas like legs might not be the best idea. But for smaller areas I have read it was quite good. As for the finally free thingy, better forget about it. I became skeptical when I started reading the part "You should notice a small whitish bulb at the end of the hair, this indicates a properly treated hair that has damaged/destroyed that hairs ability to re grow." All hair that is pulled without breaking will have that. So I decided to check for reviews. Here's one link: http://www.hairtell.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/17714/site_id/1 That one should be enough to prevent you from buying it LOL As for your last questions, yes, I would definitely get permanent hair removal special for my face. I'm Portuguese, we tend to grow hair in silly places and tweezing them out is a pain LOL

I heard it could go to 2 thousand dollars per leg, but I never checked to see if it was true. I definitely will pass that one out LOL But for my face it's another story. I actually don't have that many hair on my legs and it's very fine and light, so the legs are not much of a problem. Plus hubby and my daughter love to use the wax on my legs - it's their favorite pastime " Mom, don't you need to wax your legs? We'll pull the strips faster this time, we swear ! " LOL

Hi Binthu, is there a site that you can share about the "NOGROW" product? I tried to search for it online, but couldn't find it. Ouch! $2000 per leg? If I was rich I'd probably jump at the chance, just so I wouldn't ever have to worry about shaving again. Unfortunately I'm not, so unless I come into a large sum of money (like that's really gonna happen ), I don't see myself getting it done. Though a girl can dream, can't she? LOL I wish the hairs on my legs didn't come in so dark. Having to shave so often can get frustrating with it being so time consuming and all. And the itching from the hairs starting to grow back can be pure torture!

Thanks for the link arkaf! With your help as well as mentalwards (on the first page) I'm going to pass on the Finally Free thing. I don't mind so much shaving the smaller areas, though if I never had to shave those areas again I certainly wouldn't complain! LOL But with my legs it is such a hassle, that I like the idea of the laser hair removal, even if it is rather steep in price. But at the same time if it costs thousands upon thousands of dollars I think I'd rather pass as I just couldn't see spending so much money on myself when there are other (more important) things that this money could buy for my family and I. I guess the only way to find out the total price is to go to their clinic and ask. Though I really don't want to, because I'm afraid to find out how much it really costs.

I would love to get some hairs removed though the laser hair removal center but since it is way to steep for my blood I guess plucking and shaving will have to do. I think it would take more then one laser treatment and probably 3,000 each time or more depending on what you want done. They used to have a commercial where they had this roll on stuff that supposed to keep you hair free unless you stop using it.

I purchased Something called Smooth away that worked okay but it something that you will have to still do a few times a week as the hair sprouts out again.. I am sorry I don't recall the name..but I tried searching and found these but it isn't what I seen on tv. http://search.folica.com/beauty/roll%20on%20hair%20removal?s_cid=gg_roll%20on%20hair%20removal&GCID=S31334x001&keyword=roll%20on%20hair%20removal This might be of interest also.. http://www.hairfacts.com/scams.html

I think a lot of guys would like never to shave again! The thought of never having to experience razor burn or rashes caused by shaving, the chore of having to do it daily or every other day, it's an onerous task and I hate it. I once stopped shaving and it became itchy and unmanageable and I looked like a scruff, even when it turned into a beard it didn't suit me and a lot of people are put off by beards and moustaches. So yes if it was viable I would seriously consider having it done so I wouldn't have to shave again. And for my back too! There's nothing worse than a hairy back because I can't reach my back my back gets very hairy, yuk!

Really? I never knew guys felt this way! And I didn't even think about what you guys have to go through, especially if you don't like having a beard or mustache! And having to shave the back hair must be very difficult to do unless you have someone to help you. And here I was thinking us women have it rough when it comes to body hair. I feel for you wolfie (and all the other guys out there that are in the same boat) I really do.

I have not ever done it, mostly because I've never had the money for such things but I would defintely consider having it done for my legs and my underarms. I don't like hair in either spot, it's pesky, especially the underarms. I'm a chicken about pain though so I would have to know that it didn't hurt before doing it. But yes, I would get permanent hair removal if I could.

Neither do I, but my husband told me about how his boss can get a deal for his employees or their spouses when it comes to the laser hair removal center and the cost could be made through low monthly payments (automatically taken out of their paycheck) instead of paying for it in one lump sum. However, I don't care for the idea of some stranger removing hair from my body. I'd much rather do it in the comfort and privacy of my own home. That's why I like the idea of Finally Free. It's supposedly better than the rest and isn't anywhere near as pricey. I guess the only way for me to know if it works is to buy it. But I don't want to be throwing away money if it doesn't work...

My mom used to ask her friend to remove hairs from her arms and legs. They use some strings and do little turns on it to trap the hairs and pull it out. It cost nothing and its permanent too.

Wasn't that painful? It doesn't sound that much different than the tweezing idea another member mentioned on here. I love the idea of it being low in cost and all, but it wouldn't be worth the time or trouble spent if it causes a lot of pain.

Hi there! I have no such experience. I believe that getting removed hair through some laser techniques etc. would be a painful process and it would be expensive too. However, if it add to one's beauty, I think, it might be worth the pain.

I will not do it for sure.. lol =D Because by doing so, it will take away my manly feel.. haha =D It's kinda weird to see man without any hairs on them right?? IT just looks so weak and girly.. hehe ^_^ BUt for woman, it's entirely different, as they prefer smooth flawless skin.. haha =D I guess, going for lasering is the best way as it's painless though costly.. BUt that's the price to pay for looking good forever.. hehe ^_^ Waxing might be a solution too, but it's not permanent for some ple.. hehe

So you like shaving your face then? Or do you just leave it alone and grow a beard? I know some guys prefer a hairless chest. And what about guys that hate having to deal with a hairy back? Would it still take away their "manly feel" if they got this hair permanently removed? I can see what you mean though. It doesn't seem to matter if guys have body hair, but girls like myself have to always maintain ourselves. I've heard waxing can be messy. Not something I'm interested in dealing with, but thanks just the same.

MUch as i wanna leave it alone, but i cant.. lol =D As it will be quite messy after some time, when the length isn't right.. lol =D PLus, thickness of my facial hair will make me look very rugged instead.. hehe ^_^ Some like hairless chest, because it blocks their muscles, making them look flabby instead.. hehe BUt for those man whom are in their older stages in life, they will still prefer a hairy chest, i guess.. BEcause it's like a symbolic thing for them now.. hehe YEah, plus, waxing is very painful as well!!

Hello sacmom I don't think there is any process that removes hair 'permanantly', the hairs definitely come back , may be little late, laser process is probably the best but very costly in india, it is getting popular with high society rich ladies.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

I guess I would get laser hair removal if I had a problem with hair on my face. I knew a lady who had, what is it called? Hirsutism, I think. Anyway, she went a long time without doing anything. Basically she had a light beard. I mean, a very light one, it wasn't as if you could actually mistake her for the bearded lady in some circus...Anyway, when she was 30 she got electrolysis and after a couple of sessions she was thrilled with the results. It really changed her life. She started dating and got married and now has a baby girl. But just for my legs? Nah. I don't really have that much hair on my legs. I don't really have to shave them more than twice a week. Of course maybe when I'm older and sick of razors and shaving cream, and any bristles (lol), I'll change my mind.

I'm in the same boat as you. I hate the hair that constantly grows and grows. Shaving is a big pain in the butt but so is waxing or sugaring which I do now. I don't like to wait inbetween with leg hairs till it is long enough to do again. I have honestly wanted to try the Finally Free / Never shave again product myself. However I don't know how effective it is. I would seriously consider buying it and my fiance said to go for it. He would even pay for it for me to see if it works. I would really be upset if it didn't work. Keep me informed if you do get it before me and let me know how it goes. I will do the same for you.

i haven't but it would be nice wouldn't it. laser hair removal doesn't hurt i think. and its better than shaving, because shaving makes the hair sharper, more visible then before you started shaving. but laser removal is not one time process. you have to go there again when your hair starts growing and do it again and again till the hair really stops growing. long process. expensive too. but a good investment? no more shavers no more hair removal creams and no more worrying when was the last time you shaved.

Those are all very good questions and some of the same ones that I would love to have answered, especially as to whether or not it really does remove it permanently. If it did I believe that it would be worth any amount of money as I have to shave everyday and it is very frustrating and time consuming. I own an epilady and it does work and lasts for several weeks but it takes quite some time to finish.
