Not even going to get close

Normally, I get home from work, and get to play on the computer doing mylot stuff for a few hours. Normally... Now, today the roomie was supposed to go to the doc to get the date for her surgery. Supposed to.... She gets there, they take her blood pressure and tell her its too high - that NOT only are they NOT going to schedule the surgery right now - but she needs to go directly to the nearest hospital, don't pass go - don't collect $200... (joke mostly for those who play Monopoly...) Well, the NEAREST hospital is across the street, but it is also one of the busiest - well, one of the 5 busiest in town anyway - but catty-corner to the doc's office is another hospital - the HEART HOSPITAL - so we talk him into letting me take her there... They wouldn't even let her walk down to the car, insisted on taking her in a wheelchair - at least I got to see the cute nutritionist guy that way So, 5:25 we are at the hospital, they want a list of her meds - well of COURSE she doesn't have a list of them - we have GOT to get that into her wallet! - but she remembers them so that's good They do an EKG, they give her a pill (lucky it wasn't ME with the problem...) they keep taking her blood pressure, they go do a CAT scan (I didn't hear any cat screams, so I guess she and the cat are all right) We finally get out of there just after 8. We are driving up the road toward home with her on the phone to the pharmacy filling the blood pressure meds. Now, we haven't eaten since lunch - so we pull into KFC and get her grilled hot wings and me grilled chicken and side salads for dinner. Next we go to the pharmacy, which is next to the KFC, but of course we have to go back out on the major road to get to the place! And they actually have the meds ready - only 20 minutes after we called them in!!! This is all to explain WHY I'm not even going to be as close as I hoped to payout with tomorrow's update! So, have last minute emergencies caused you to spend less time than you had planned mylotting? I sure hope it didn't cost you as much as it cost ME!!!

Sorry your roomie had the blood pressure problems. Hope they get it under control soon so she can have her surgery. I had an unplanned hospital stay in June, spent 4 nights and did not have any internet access while there. I was having withdrawels. Also our desk top computer is down, has been for most of the summer. So our family of 4 is sharing a laptop and we've been having problems with it as well. It's problem is that it is old and the battery doesn't last long, so we just plug it in. Now the cord won't stay in well. You think you are connected and all of a sudden "poof" it shuts down. So I haven't been here as much as I would like either.

that sounds like me back in early July when we had all kind of problems, pretty much replaced the whole internet system, the modem, the router, the wireless antennas and FINALLY my whole old computer! And when we replaced that, my old monitor didn't like the new computer! I thought I was going CRAZY! At least last night I had the "entertainment" of the hospital and my needlework.

right now I'm needle pointing a pillow top for her folk's 50th wedding anniversary, I also cross stitch, bead and crochet - I love beading, but it's not really as portable as some, since you have all those little beads to spread around

I can do without hospital "entertainment". What kind of needlework to you do? I knit and cross-stitch. Mostly knit though.

Well, of course her BP is going to be high--she's overweight! Duh! You'd think they'd take that into account...but high BP can cause strokes and for them to be that alarmed it must've been very high. I hope your roomie can get the surgery soon. Did you ever read that link to David Smith that I gave you? He lost hundreds of pounds all by himself with good nutrition and exercise and he weighed over 500 pounds!

well, part of it is that she's not going to stick to a diet if there's no PHYSICAL reason, she's done well for the last 3 months, but I've only cheated a couple of times, she's cheated more - yes, she's lost more weight, but she has more fluid than I do and she as so much more to lose - we both want to lose around 100 lbs, but I've only been carrying it for 15-20 years, she's had it since she hit puberty. And there may be some hormonal things going on, apparently her grandmother had the same problem. and her blood pressure was 220 over 120...

well, this diet has taken 42 lbs off her this summer - I've lost a bit over 20 - maybe close to 30, hard to tell since the scale I started my weight on I haven't been back to since June...

OMG, that's so high!! I'm so glad she's okay, that's a dangerous BP to have. I wish her the best of luck and understand why she's having the surgery. I fight my weight every day and have all my life. I need to lose 40 pounds!

they go do a CAT scan (I didn't hear any cat screams, so I guess she and the cat are all right) Just WHY do they call them CAT scans... What is the equivalent for cats...Peeps Scan? Well at least today was anything but boring...Well no dire emergencies here but the only time I was kept away from any work or mylotting was two years ago when my building was being rewired and they shut all the electricity down...no electricity for eight hours! Talk about computer withdrawals

Lab tests are the other things that peeps get, I guess, or cats, perhaps. Computerized Tomography, CT is what they call them mostly now. I get a cat scan every time I come home.

I knew someone would like that - As all you know I'm under nearly constant scan when I'm in the rest of the house, that's why I lock them out of my computer/craft space

Sounds like quite a day, so what is the real reason you haven’t been here? (LOL) Hospitals are not known for doing anything in a hurry that’s for sure. I’ve had one thing after another holding me up every step of the way this month and, although I won’t know until tomorrow, I doubt I’ll get there. I have had to take the cat to the vet, shop for new blinds (what a drama that was) entertain my daughter’s friends and stupid little mishaps that kept me away from the computer. Oh well, can’t be helped if I don’t make it this time and if everything settles down at my house I may get a fat payout next month! Not holding my breath though...

yeah, if I have a repeat of this month, I'll have some $16 next... but ya throw that on top of the $70 or so I have in there already... I actually bid on something earlier this month on Ebay, but I had set my limit at $10 and held my ground so I didn't get it

I stay away from bidding nowadays. The last time I did it I wanted the item quite badly and I thought I was going to get it because I was the winning bidder right up until 5 minutes to the end and then all these bids started coming in and I kept bidding more and more until I won the item but it was not exactly a bargain!

Well, do not worry. Take care of your friend. The computer can wait. Mylot can wait. Ensure your friend gets the best treatment. Also keep an eye on her until she gets well. After all, what are friends for?

Hi I'm not making payout this month as I have only just started on here this week, but I figure if I keep going it just means I will have a bit more by next time, so...! Sorry about your stressful day, sometimes things all seem to come at once, don't they?!

It never pains but it roars - or something like that... well, I didn't make payout my first month either, and I was on for a couple of weeks - but keep going and you will make it.

Wow, that sounds stressful, I hope she will be okay. Yes, stuff like that happens to me a lot and I don't get to go on the computer and try to earn a few cents here and there. It's frustrating. I try to handle it gracefully but I dont' always since I am not all that adaptable when I have plans and they are thrown out because of the needs of others. And didn't that sentence make me sound horrid and selfish! But I mean, there's always someone here who needs something and there are a lot of times I have to help out especially with the kids since they are too young to take care of themselves. They're my grandsons and I live with them and their mother. Mostly its okay except oh my, they have a LOT of energy!

that's why you have kids when your young and have more energy yourself! I know a gal who had her first in her late 30's, she's not sorry, but I kid you not, she's got teenagers in her mid-50's, I didn't have patience for them when I was in my 20's!

grrrrrrrrrrrrr.......what is it with doctors and the delay of surgery? I'm having a similar problem cept I've been waiting over a year to have my surgery done. Every friggin' time I go in hoping to finally get the medical clearance for it, they always find something else wrong with me to delay the surgery yet again. This time it might be diabetes. I won't know till this Friday when I see the doctor again. Anyways, to get back on track here, no last minute emergencies have caused me to spend time away from mylot. It's either doing alot of yard work or work in general that keeps me away. I sure hope your roomie is doing ok.

Eating at KFC, is her blood pressure affected by salt? Southern fried food can make it go way higher. But so can being upset becuse she's about to have surgery. Hope your roomies is IK. Yeah didn't make payout, worked a lot but had a rough time getting paid for awhile.

The sauce is where most of the salt comes from and there can be fat in the sauce, too. Grilled is a little better, but wings are mostly fat and bone.

this whole month has been pretty much a bust for a lot of my internet stuff because of sons gf moving, my daughters problems, having to shop for extra things we need now, worrying over how much i can do (which isnt much) with my disability, to help son and so he wont miss what little she does around here.

Blood pressures go high when a person is under a lot of stress. Maybe your roomie was nervous about her upcoming surgery. It is best to try to keep her calm.

I worked over fourteen hours today. Needless to say, I have not been here. I am already over, though.Just a little bit, but every little bit helps. I am short one staff. I had someone lined up to fill in. She did not write me down, so then accepted an offer in another program. I worked the six hour shift because I had no one else. This is a salary job, so there is no pay incentive for those extra hours. No comp time as such, either. There is, however, a very forgiving time off policy if you consistently work your forty plus hours. Like last week. I am out of paid time off until November 17. I stayed home two days. Nothing lost, docked or deducted. I guess I am polishing up a crown for heaven.

It isn't so much as the emergencies cause me to not do as much time mylotting as it is that they really screw up my plans- or our plans. We were supposed to go on a trip for July fourth one year. But my BF fell out of the back of his Suburban and cut the vena cava vessel over his eye...after a LOT of arguing I did get him to the ER (I had to drag him to the car by the ear!!! Literally!!!!! ) He wanted to clean up and get all the blood off his shirt, face, chest, arms and legs -yep he bled a LOT! Then we were to go to a home and garden show locally, he decided to unload his wood splitter from the trailer by himself. Another trip to the ER, this time for stitches in his finger. He was squirting blood so we wrapped it in a towel and I shoved him in the car (after arguing with him again) and had him elevate his hand. The bleeding stopped by the time we reached the ER, but there were more stitches. (By now he could be a quilt!) After that, I don't make any plans that can't be changed. I am the main person to haul him into the ER, and believe me there have been two or three trips a year since we got together. But since he is active I figure that it's the cost of having a BF. Don't feel too bad about not reaching pay out. This is the first time in three months that I actually reached payout. The pain from the knee surgery really had me not too interested in doing too much.

yeah, the roomie's mom had both knees and both hips done and she was in a lot of pain I have to say, that the first knee surgery got us Oliver, since he showed up the same day we went out to visit her mom after surgery and the people across the street had found him in their back yard

Don't you just hate it when LIFE gets in the way of life? LOL I've only managed to rack up ninety nine cents this month. So no payout for me either and that's a first! Been too busy trying to organize my trip to Ontario to be with my son who is ill again. Won't have my computer with me either, so I guess no payout next month either! Damn life! ROFL

hi ElicBxn only the need to get up and stretch every so often. my doctor told me never to sit at the computer more than three hours without getting up and moving around,to make it even harder for me I have this computer and monitor set up on my chest of drawers which would be great except for one little thing,I have to sit with'my knees splayed out as unlike a desk my chest of drawers has no knee hole. wah wah. but I am not really missing too much time as now its cooled off I can work better not faster but at least better. You have had one busy day helping your roomie.wow.my roommate is still in rehab after having had surgery on her back. and I do have 30 dollars and some odd cents already rung up on mylot yippee for my side I worked so hard to make this.

Thanks, Tamara, yeah, hospitals, one of those things we hope we never need, but hope its there if we do! I was mentioning to her that it was about this time last year I was getting OUT of the hospital after my gall bladder surgery. They are wanting to get her in for a gastric bypass and gall bladder removal.
