I can't! But unlike the woman asking Abby, I'd've been in her face, well, just before I KILLED her...
How UNBELIEVABLY cruel this LYING B*TCH is! Man, I'd've been filing for divorce if I had been her husband, I'd've been taking the cat in myself - well, you guys know me - if I had heard about it

I hope she's reported to animal cruelty and GOES TO JAIL!!!

I would have told! Not only that I would have called animal services and got her in trouble. That's rediculous and she should have gotten in trouble for putting the pet in so much danger. I personally would have taken the cat myself after telling 'Ray' what happened.

That sounds like a mother-in-law from hell.....I have kept many of my childrens pets for them.My daughter once bought a rabbit for my grandkids & she left it at my house because she had no [place for it, but she wanted the kids to be able to come visit..It was fine with me..I took care of that rabbit for years while my grandchilren came to visit...This was a horrible thing to do to this cat, i mean what harm was it to keep the kids cat?Doesn't she love her grandchildren? All i can say is she is a horrible woman indeed...

Why didn't the letter writer take in the cat?

What a friggin cow! People who do things like that to animals should have the same done to them. Drive the old witch blindfolded to the middle of nowhere and then dump her with no extra clothing, food or drink for her to find her way home and allow her to experience some of what that poor cat went through. Nasty b1tch! Yes, I agree with Abby; send the article to everyone who knows her so they can see her true colours!

I don't want to read the story, that kind of stuff sickens me. Just let me know if that bytch is anywhere near NY State so I can hunt her down and beat her and maybe dump my 5 kitty litter boxes on her head (six cats here, almost ALL rescues).

At least they were able to find thery beloved cat. It seems cruel that they had to pay for getting the pet back from the shelter. That was insult to injury.

The mother in law could have just refused to care for the cat if she never wanted it in the first place. The cat is a hapless victim and cannot even voice out that if she/he would be returned to the home her/his owner thought that she would be safe was the most unsafe place for her in the world. The family obviously cannot let go of their pet, otherwise they would have given the cat up for adoption.

I don't want to read it. I find stories about animal cruelty to be unbelievably upsetting and depressing. I love my pets and get along with them better than most people I know so reading about anything happening to them really bothers me.

Someone should drive her out to the desert and dump her! What a mean, horrible thing to do! She obviously thinks only of herself and not her family that loves the poor cat.

I can't believe she just let him take the cat back to the same person who abandoned her the first time. This time she will probably make sure the poor cat doesn't live so they can't bring it back again. For crying out loud if she didn't want the cat at her house why didn't she just say so.

I get Dear Abby in my in-box every day, and I could not believe this. We come from a big pet-loving family. My mother and sister have dogs and cats, and my hsuband and I have a cat. My sister and her friends run a "cat-house" (cat rescue program, not the other kind of cat-house), and I have kitty cats on my cheques. I was absolutely appaled when I read this!!!!

the person that writes this letter to Abby should tell the truth of what happened
this cat might be dumped again for all they know and this time Precious might not have any of 9 lives left
whoever this Loretta person is, I hope the universe makes her pay for what she did to such a harmless house pet
animals are living beings too, and she is an adult she can at least find a decent way to get rid of the cat such as getting it a new loving home

I would be absolutely furious!! I would have told the family outright what she did...if she gets mad, oh well. I feel bad that they can't have their cat with them and they need to find a place that will let them have it but evidently not the mother in law. I would certainly never trust her again.

If she didn't want the cat, why not just take it to the animal shelter herself? It is terrible that she would say she would look after the cat, and then turn around to do something like this. Only a selfish person would commit such an act.
I hope that Precious is now being cared for by the people who love her the most, and that she doesn't have to deal with that woman ever again.

[b]Elic, your URL didn't work. Is it correct? If so, I'm afraid you'll just have to tell me. Sorry, But you did say she didn't bludgeon any kitties, so I do want to read it.
