Do you like to go for shopping alone?

Sometimes I like to go for shopping alone, being in my own world, window shopping for a long time, spending a lot of time at the places of bags and purses...... I hate it when people force me to buy things. My hostel mate Akila compells me to buy things according to her choice. I hate it. She is elder to me and she thinks that she has all rights to advice me when it comes to shopping. If somebody asks my opinion while shopping, I only suggest; I never compell people to buy something. What about you? Have you ever had a friend like my hostel mate? Do you like to go for shopping alone? at least sometimes?

I almost always go shopping on my own. I tend to shop pretty rapidly and don't linger in stores for very long, so I get really annoyed at people who spend 20 minutes in a store and still come out with nothing. I never push anyone to buy anything and I'll only offer an opinion if they ask for it. And if they ask for an opinion, I'll give my honest opinion whether they like it or not. My friends know that if they want a frank, and often very blunt, opinion that I'm the person to go to. If they just want to be flattered and told they look nice no matter what, they always go somewhere else. :) Don't get me wrong. I'll tell them it looks amazing if it does, but I'll never just mince my words.

That is very nice about you. I also hate to flatter. Sometimes I feel bad to lie. For example I will share you something which happend yesterday. My friend got a dress for her wedding and she showed it to me. I really didn't like it at all, but I was forced to say it looks fine because I didn't want to disappoint her. She has already purchased the dress. If somebody asks me about selecting a dress before deciding on it; of course I will give my true suggestion. Thanks for the response.

Wow, Elenyae, 20minutes for shopping is really a high speed. I am okay with shopping alone or with my friends, but I also do not like to spend long in the store. I have some friends, they can spend the whole day in doing shopping, I just avoid to come with them : )

Hi Karen! I think I am like some of your friends who like to spend whole day at shopping. So, I don't prefer to go for shopping with someone who really make me hurry up. I have seen that guys really hate to spend a lot of time at shopping malls. I shop fast only when I go for shopping with my husband. I know that he gets bored; but he still try to be nice to give me time to shop. Thanks for the comment.

hi there daliaj...I prefert og o shopping alone.. I am not the type who decides very slow..but when it comes to shopping..it takes forever for me to decide... I try on about 20 clothes and buy only one and it takes a great deal of thinking over and over before I pull mt credit card out of my wallet... I am very stingy! and i don't want anybody to come with me coz he might die of boredom.

I am also a person like you who takes a lot of time to select things. I select fast only if I am shopping with my husband and I know that he hates to waiting for me to select. I think a lot before buying even a small things. If a buy things with expiry, I see the expitry date and compare it with same produts of other brands. I am very calculative. I have seen that guys usually hate to spend a lot of time shopping.

Sometimes I like to shop on my own. I like to shop online too. It makes it easier when I do not want to use gas or make a trip. I can also find some better deals online too.

I am new to online shopping. I have only made two purchases online. I use the money I make from mylot to buy gifts for my friends and family memebers. I got two gifts using paypal money yet. I agree that online shopping saves a lot of time and there are good deals sometimes, but I am scared to purchase for bigger amounts online. I am doubtful whether I will get the stuff delivered on time and in good condition. I don't know where to complaint if it fails.

Hi daliaj, I prefer shopping alone. It gives me a chance to look at price tags as well. Actually, I do have friends who are very well off. When I go with them, I feel I end up buying something that they decide is nice because they go to shops of higher class. There are many things there as well that I dont think warrant such high price tag, and I dont think they would suit me. But they end up suggesting them for me as they know my financial background. Invariably I end up with something that doesnt fit my budget, something that I dont like, and something that doesnt suit me while they continue to shop some costlier stuff for themselves. I return pretty unsatisfied with my shopping. Double jeopardy, neither the merchandise, nor the money! :( When I go alone, I walk around, I select, I take my own time and may find something that I genuinely like. Even if I dont, I at least have the satisfaction of having bought my second or third or even 10th preference. But buying something I wouldnt give a second look to doesnt make me very happy. The day before, however, I went for shopping and while I was pulling out the pieces that I liked, one stranger was looking on. I thought she was amused that I felt I could get into those thin attires, but a little later, all the pieces that I had pulled out and left with or without trial, she picked them, and went to the cash counter. Right then, even I reached cash counter, and she said, u have an excellent selection! That was a huge compliment from a stranger - that too a lady!

I also love to be in personal space sometimes, but not always. I switch off my phone and like to be alone when I am worried or tensed. Similarly, I like to go for shopping alone when I am worried. I love shopping too. It is not must that I should be something whenever I go for shopping; I buy only if I really like something and I feel that it is a good deal. I also enjoy doing window shopping. Thanks for the response.

It's great to shop alone because it's another way to have "me time" and basically doing things for yourself. Although, when I shop alone, I'm more prone to buy things I really don't need so I suppose it benefits the business but as a consumer it's hurting my wallet. However, I do agree that it sucks when someone tries to force you to buy something, especially a friend. I generally ask my friends for their opinions on something, but the final decision is mine. Maybe you could just say say "Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather not buy it," to your hostel mate? Well, best of luck :)

No I don't have such kind of friend or hostel mate such as yours. And if ever I do have, I would say she has not right to dictate on me. I think I have my own decision and I know what I like and what I don't. I don't need dictators when it comes to things I buy for myself. Yes, I do appreciate suggestions and weigh them intelligently but in the end it is I who should decide and not somebody else. I also love to shop alone. I am a very meticulous person and I do shop heavily so I don't want companions when I shop so that nobody will get tire or bored while waiting for me.

I prefer to go shopping with someone, normally one of my kids. If I take the whole family, it tends to become more frustrating for me because they al want things and I end up forgetting half of what I went to get. Ideally, I will take one or two kids with me and my husband will stay home with the kids that didn't go. This way, I get to shop, I get some time with whatever kid(s) go with me, and he is able to spend time with the otyher kid(s). He hates shopping, so he gets out of it, and I am able to get the things that I set out to get without too much interrruption.

i like to go shopping alone so i can shop everywhere and compare prices at different stores without worrying. I am worried if i am with someone with me going someone because i might having a longer time for shopping and they might feel bored and tired hopping to another store.

I love to shop with my husband and toddler and I also, enjoy shopping on my own., I think that if the person you're shoppin with is good fun and doesn't impose on you, like your roomate, then shopping together can be great fun. Two heads are often better than one and an honest opinion can prevent you from buying something that you may later regret.

She always give opinion what to choose then I don't have to headache when choosing what to buy. So for daliaj I hope you happy shopping and enjoys... cheers...

I love to shop by myself. Being able to shop at my own pace and look at what I like to look at. I don't mind shopping with other people if it is just for fun and browsing and such, but if I really need to buy something like for a special occasion or something, I prefer to do that alone so that I can think and decide, and try it on in private if need be. I need to just concentrate on myself if I am seriously looking for something. I consider shopping with friends and family more like looking. If I see something I like great, but I am not taking the shopping seriously, instead I am just being with that person or those people.

I bery rarely go shopping with another person. It doesn't matter what I am shopping for I just like looking around by myself. The only exception is when it comes to buying electronics. Here i will usually ask my brother to tag along just because he keeps much better tabs on what is better than what and if the little extras they all say are so wonderful are really worth the extra money. Having someone with you for the everyday stuff just make the chore more complicated and take at least three times as long.

Shopping alone? hmm, nope, I have the worst problem in resisting (or self control), as long as I see something nice, I want to buy it right away... That's why God created wives to do shopping or accompany men in shopping I guess...

yes, sometimes i like to go shopping alone. especially if i'm in a hurry, i don't bring anyone to shop with me. but most of the time, i go shopping with my friends and siblings. i like to get other people's opinions about certain garments but i will not be talked into buying something that i don't like. i don't have a friend who compels me to buy something. my friends just give their ideas/opinions but they never dictate me what to buy and what not to buy.

I MUCH prefer shopping alone. A girl I worked with persuaded me to let her come shopping with me but I warned her I wanted to look for a book in a secondhand shop. When I was there, she just stood there tutting and sighing and saying she was bored. I like to window shop, like you, and take my time over choosing things.

It depends. If it is groceries, then my significant other would be coming with me, but most things I like to shop for on my own so I can spend enough time without someone nagging me.
