Voting for a presidential candidate just because of sympathy to his family

Will you vote for a presidential bet just because of sympathy to his or her family? Look at Noynoy Aquino, a presidential candidate; just because his late mother and father have become pillars of our democracy today, the sympathy of Filipino people goes with the Aquino's. And Noynoy, as a result, due to clamor of Aquino's supporters, has agreed to run for president. Is sympathy enough to be the criteria of becoming a president? Look at the late Cory aquino, they want her to be a heroine and even a saint! What can the Aquino's and Cojuangco do to the Muslim problems in Mindanao. The Muslim problems in Mindanao have been there for decades and even centuries since the Spanish colonization. Now, what are your views regarding this? Thanks for droopping by.

Well, come to think of it. A lot of our politicians are corrupt. I know we are all aware of that. Noynoy, as I must say, is among those whom we can really say, has a good reputation among the candidates. Aren't you tired of corruption happening around? I know that some of the candidates are smart but known to be corrupt. So what can they also do for us aside from taking our money and putting it into their own pockets?

I like chief justice Reynato Puno to run for the presidency. He has a good track record but it seems he would just run for vice-presidency.

I agree with you with all the aspiring candidates Noynoy is the one I would choose because of his good reputation. We don't just judge because he is the son of Cory and Ninoy but we also look at his performance. I must say and from what I have seen from he seems capable of leading the country after all im sure he also inherited some aspects of his father and her mother's good qualities.

We all have our point of views here. There still a year to think and observe whom among the candidates deserve to lead the country.

I agreewith you, they just want Noynoyto run for presidency because of there sympathy. They want him to be a president because they thought he is like his father and mother. For me this is not enough, like Gloria they put her in the position because she is the daughter of late president Macapagal. But all she did is to robbed the money of people. Her husband and son used her position to get more money and became richer.

Yes, I agree with you with regards to GMA, her popularity came from being the daughter of another late president. She was blinded by power and so was her family. But the biggest difference would be I think is that he (Noynoy) has to preserve his family's legacy, plus he has Kris and his other siblings to reign him in. Another was that there was no public clamor for her to run, and her parents weren't assassinated that led to freedom and democracy for the Filipinos. Their family is far from perfect but so far I think he is the country's best bet if we want to move ahead

Chief Justice Reynato puno is a better bet than Noynoy. He has a good track record and the opposition also does not say much against him. He has recently launched the "moral revolution" far better than EDSA revolution. We don't only have political but moral problems as well. And it is much worse today than in the past.

Well I guess I am supporting Noynoy because I could not see one good candidate to support this 2010. would you vote for Erap who has shady leadership during his time and I think his running for presidency is just to satisfy his ego to show the present administration that he still holds popularity with the people. Would you vote for Villar who as a senate president used his position to favor road projects that would favour his business interests. Would you favor Teodor that despite his intellectual capacity is very pro-administration and you cannot rely if he would just be as loyal to his present boss to protect her after 2010. I am not supporting Noynoy because of his family, but for the reasons I am choosing the lesser evils I see in the aspirants. I might still change if I could see other candidates that may come in hand when things happen on October (the filing of candidacy of the aspirants). I might support Chiz if he would pursue his dreams of becoming the president. I am just not sure about the political party he is in right now since I think it is led by Danding Cojuangco side which has been a known loyal to the Marcoses in the past. That I have to think many times because that may just mean that the Marcoses would be freed from the cases they are facing with the present administration.

Well we are just stating our personal views regarding this matter. I may even vote for Noynoy not for sympathy but if he has already declared his platforms for his presidency. I don't like escudero because of his inexperience and slef-righteousness. Anyway what has he done since topping the senatorial elections?

You should look at the Philippines' political situation as well. Out of all them, Noynoy has the least scandal to his name (unless of course you count that incident in Hacienda whose name I forgot) and does not seem to have any ulterior motive for the Presidency at all. After all, he was prodded on to run and never intended to. I would vote for Noynoy not because of sympathy, but because I think he has the makings of a President that will put the people's interests before his own. Cheers~

By the way I have to clarify. I said "I would vote" for Noynoy when I actually mean that if I do, I would vote for him not because of sympathy. I haven't picked my candidate yet, but I am looking at a set list that I will observe for the merits of their platforms and agendas. Cheers~

Well of course voting because of sympathy would never be the reason. Why would people think that Noynoy don't have the capacity to serve his country? In fact even Cory before she run for presidency need not show anything because she was a housewife, so why not give Noynoy a chance to serve his country. In fact, I have heard a lot of people say things that, he is not famous, he did not do this, did not do that, what for? to impress? what is important is that to know that he did not corrupt, that's what counts. I never heard him bought a luxurious house or something or just to give credit to himself. So personally, I would really like to vote for him as long as he would prioritize his country first and not because of personal interest. This is my opinion only, if that is totally the opposite of what you have in mind, i respect that, so please also respect mine. About the problems in Mindanao, that will depend if he wins as a President. It is still early to tell if he can do something about it. As of now, a problem in Mindanao is still a problem. Let's just wait and see who will be worthy to sit as President next year, and we can tell if that person can handle the situation in Mindanao.

I'm not judging Noynoy Aquino. It is his choice to serve the country. I'm just stating my opinions regarding this matter. Let us just be careful in voting for the next president of our country. Let us be hopeful that whoever will win our country is going to prosper. Anyway, are you really a Filipina living in India?

Hello Levite. to be honest, am still having a hard time which i should vote for the 2010 and it's too early since most people now questions the candidates performance on their previous jobs, and the work of a president is completely doubled than their usual job. regarding the problems in Mindanao shall be a great challenge to the Presidential candidates, they should have more debates on these issues....
