China

these days, i'm planning a list with 30 books in to buy and store. i do love reading all the time and all kinds of books. but because of the computer, i have read less than before. while recently, i found some smallpoxs on my forehead. so i plan to read more while less before the computer. in fact, that's not the only reason. haha... how abt u, my friends, do u still read or buy books? or just read on the computer? or even never read now, but only watch tv or news? ...

I love to read but find I'm on the computer more than I'm reading. I just brought two books that I plan on taking the time to read a little each day. The books I brought are "The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and The Eleventh Victim by Nancy Grace. Happy reading.

I sell books on line, I sell used books so I have an entire garage full of them. I do enjoy reading, I usually am reading a book, sometimes I only have time to read a couple of pages at a time so sometimes it takes me a couple of months to read a whole book, but I do always have one goin. I also really love audio books so I always have an audio book playing in my car, except when my teenagers are in the car, then they are talking so much I can't hear my book, and they want me to play music, but when I am alone or with my youngest who is quieter than the other two I always have an audio book going.

Dear yolanda19191, Nice to see you after a long time. I am bad reader. I never read books often. But sometimes I too read some spiritual books. Most of the time I spend my time before the computer and if I want to know something I will browse it and take an e-book. Thats it. I really want to have that good habit but most of the time never do it likely. Nice discussion...Keep up the good work... Cheers....

...I don't get the relation between the "smallpoxs" and reading on the computer. Anyhoo, back to the actual topic at hand. I read a lot of books but my mother already has an extensive collection, so I don't find myself buying books all that often. Add to that that they are SO EXPENSIVE! I prefer to go to the library and borrow books to read, and only if they're really really good and I'm likely to read them again, will I head to a bookstore or a second-hand bookstore - more often the latter - and try and find myself a copy. :)

Have recently bought 4 new books which is unusual for me as I mostly buy second hand. They include the latest Dan Brown and the one about the Queen Mother. However we have a problem we are planning to mmove into a smaller place so we will have to downsize and we have hundreds of books so we ar thinking of having a sort of coffee evening with a book sale in aid of Save the Children which is the charity we support.

Hi Yolanda I have just finished D-Day by Antony Beevor. What a writer that guy is. I have read his Stalingrade twice (which is unusual for me to read a book twice) and I have read his Berlin. If you into history he is the guy. Please do do some charity work. Save the Children is a large organization and most groups could do with help. In the last crises in Burma they were giving out aid the next day and the chief executive was there.

My book buying has slowed down and with good reason. I am too much in debt and we have over 10,700 books at my house. It's hard to find places to store them. I do enjoy reading. My favorite would be fiction, murder mysteries.

There are three of us buying books at my house. I, personally, own around 700 of them. My mother and sister own the rest. We've been buying since before I was born and we don't get rid of any of them. We also go to book sales. We almost never pay full price for our books. If you wait, most book prices will come down. Depending on the price, we each might get 25 to 30 books at one time. None of us are teachers or authors, we're just bookahalics.

hmm, refer to what kind of fiction to love most, to me, maybe the whodunit. well, but how can u have so much books. u bought them one by one? i really shocked greatly by ur book amount. then, u'r a teacher, or author?

i guessed wrong. but i feel ur family are really keen on books. 700, to me, still is not a small number. i never count how many book i have. cause i store them in some places, in my brother's, aunt's, mom's... but i'm the one who buy books most in my family.

One of the first things I do when I'm in a new place is explore the bookstores.I've loved to read about different places and times for as long as I can remember.I don't think there is anything as wonderful as opening up a new book.Literally ANYTHING could be waiting inside.

I go to the book everytime I get paid. There have been times when I bought 100 dollars worth of books. Other times I buy one or two. Its like when my stack dwindles I get more.
• China

if 100 dollars at a time, i think it's a little more to me. well, i feel maybe books are more expensive in foreign countries, compared to books sold here. casue i heard of that some ones here blamed that books were too expensive to buy.

Hi there Yolanda, I love books since childhood! I was raised with a milk in one hand and a book on the other...so to speak. As time passes by, I learned to love books concerning different issues, e it fiction, non-fiction, et al. I admire authors who can easily weave words and turn it into beautiful stories and catch my interest. And because I love reading so much that I have learned to love writing as well. Computers are here for good - no questions asked. My job compels me to do computer job most of the time - more than 10 hours a day! So though there are ebooks that can be uploaded; I still prefer the old school - hard bound/soft bound books. I am more relaxed embracing my time with my books on my quiet moment as I lay down. With regard to the question as to how often I buy books... hmmm... I sometimes borrow a book written by a paticular author, and if I like the style of that author, then I might consider buying his/her other books and add to my collection. As of this writng, I plan to add LJ Smith's The Vampire Diaries; and Michael Connely's books of Harry Bosch's series. Enjoy reading!

I don't like reading books on the computer, so I read the old fashion way. I enjoy almost any type of genre (except sleaze), but my favorite type is non-fiction, particularly obscure things.

when as a child, i still remember i read more fictions, like love story or action story, all were borrowed. but now i feel that was really a waste of time to me. when grow up, tend to read the professional books, or some books that can help enlarge the eyesights.

not so often but borrowing them instead. Except for my kids which i have motivated to borrow and buy new books especially those of twilight and harry potters, its okay for me to invest on these hobbies. However, since we have the wonders of internet, too, we can download audio books which are also fun and it help us in our everyday multitasking.
