My friend Jack and work and I like to make fun of each other. Today a co-worker named Bill sent an e-mail to the group that said, "Bill is leaving at 3:00 for a Dr. appointment". So I replied to the group, "DAwn is leaving at 4:10 for a Dr. appointment. PS Bill and I are not going to the same place." Got to stop those nasty rumors, you know. So Jack butts in and says, "The Religious Right might disagree." So I said, "good one. See you there!" Jack says, "that's where all the interesting people will be." OUCH, ever laughed so hard that it hurt? Do they allow you to be funny at work or is it all straight faces and seriousness?

Anywhere I've ever worked, I've made it fun. If you can't have fun at work it makes it a miserable place for everyone to be and the time seems to drag by sooo slow.
I don't make fun of anyone and I do have to watch what I say to who, some people are more easily offended than others. I always get my work done.
I think having fun never hurts anyone and that, along with listening to some upbeat music things actually can get done a lot faster, no one is dragging their butt around in a bad mood.

Yep, what's the point of working in a place where you can't have fun?

This is really funny. I think these kind of conversations really add up to the working atmosphere. It does spice up the drab world around. Thanks for sharing this.
I work in a hospital and most of the time I have to attend to emotionally down people. Thankfully I have a boss who has a great sense of humor and keeps passing sweet and funny remarks. This makes such a big difference to all here.

well that's no fun...
There was one exchange a few years ago in which this one woman replied back that she was not amused and didn't want to be copied on all this time wasting foolishness. Sadly, she is still with the company!

Before when im still working my boss is so funny but sometime corny while his wife whos my immediate boss is so serious.
Inside our office its always delayed reaction whenever my boss is joking because as soon he's finish with his story my officemates and i look at each other and then look at our immediate boss if she's in the mood or not.
I think that scenario makes bigger laugh to us as soon as were off to work.

How funny. I recently quit working away from the house after 8 years of working for a golf course. I had a blast, told jokes and played tricks on some of the other employees that were simple but funny. I was allowed to say and do almost anything since most employees expected me to be silly or funny. I loved living up to that image. Ofcourse I was selective who I could tell jokes or what kind since most were a bit raw. I enjoyed my time serving the public but it was time to quit and help take care of our grandbaby.

Part of the company creed is that we believe that fun should be an integral part of everything we do. I just do not do too much of it in the e mail. Program manager likes to send out high falutin cliche rewrites that should take a college education to read. I play "Free Rice" so I know lots of big words and I usually win. She buys me pop and candy for being smart.

What happens when they discover they have been wrong? Just before everything for them goes black?
That was hard to get the humor out of when reading, I think if we put it in a script type of form it would work much better...
Bill sent an e-mail: "Bill is leaving at 3:00 for a Dr. appointment."
Dawn sent an e-mail reply: "Dawn is leaving at 4:10 for a Dr. appointment.
P.S. Bill and I are not going to the same place."
Jack butts in and writes: "The Religious Right might disagree."
Dawn replies: "Good one. See you there!"
Jack responds: "That's where all the interesting people will be."
LOL I get it! Heeheeheee...
If there is no hell then where will eternal souls gather?

hi dawnald well I am well retired and now am in this retirement center but at our two tables we have several people with ripe senses of humor. at my table is a new resident, Perla who is from the Phillipines,She has got nicknamed Ice Cream because she acted like a little child when she got her first dish of ice cream . so now she is teased, all good natured, and called Ice Cream. Now if anyone says something nasty to her, our whole group would be on them like a big mangy dog on a helpless cat. We tease but its in good humor and not taken seriously at all. We all tend to stick up for each other and that has helped me to feel more comfortable here. laughter is really good for us.

Hi dawnald,
Where I used we didn't have all this modern computers, but the very old ones, e-mail didn't exist then, it was just to do straight typing on and didn't all the mod-cons like today, it was an old fashion sage computer.Wed worked in a little office with just four girls in it as tthe otherside of the building was a factory.

I remember that. We all had typewriters and calculators and only one computer for the whole department to look things up. If we wanted to update something on the computer, we had to fill out a form and send it in to be keypunched!

I used to have a lot of fun at work during the period that I shared my reception desk with a girl named Carla. She and I had a ball together and we became great friends. We used to play tricks on our boss on a regular basis and fortunately he had a good sense of humour. It was great because until she came along I used to work on my own and I couldn’t even go to the bathroom without phoning for someone to take my place. We used to do stupid stuff; you know the kind you can’t retell except by saying ‘you had to be there.'

Sings:
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch
an onion patch
an onion patch.
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch
and all I do is cry all day.
You get? I'm all alone in my office and often tell jokes to myself to just liven up the day. Otherwise I would end up 'odd'.

Well, in the first employment, my boss had some sense of humor too. He is chartered accountant, and we were working for an audit firm. One of the students went to this explosives unit, and verified everything there physically, except acid. In his report, he mentioned that he'd personally verified all stocks, except acid - and added - I couldnt because I suffer with virtigo and so couldnt climb that container. The boss sent a note - the next time u go for verification, please step inside the container, and check whether it is water or acid. Well, we all knew it was a fast one on the kid - who was new there. :) Yeah it is important to have a good sense of humor otherwise things can really go out of hand because of stress.
