Do you like your penmanship?

Most of the time, I encode stuff in my pc and I don’t write that much on a piece of paper anymore. Now, my boss is requiring me to write stuff in about 10 pages. I tried to scuffle on that idea since I am planning to just type them in my PC. It was about important documents that really need manual writing. To my dismay, I had finished the whole thing and in the end I abhor seeing my penmanship. I am not used to manually writing anymore and it’s been ages since the last time I remember writing a lot way back then. I was just glad that he commented that my penmanship is still legible. How about you? Do you like your penmanship?

I like my penmanship but sometimes it is not that good when I am not in the mood to write. My writings also depends on my mood and I found it every time I write something.

i noticed that too. my writing is way way good when im in my best mood or when my mind is being set for that moment to write.or else everything will be just a mess. it also depends on my posture and the area where i write where i can concentrate much on my writing and not to other stuffs.thanks for responding to my post.

I think I do because most of the time, it is legible. It just takes so much effort for me to make it that way though. Like you, I am not so eager that the idea of writing so much. I have used the computer for so long and I really type pretty fast. I do write little notes for reminders but I think writing even for a half-page would make my hand ache. Have a nice day!

hand ache is what i am talking about. since i ma not useed to writing that long, i feel pain in my hand and fingers. though i have the dexterity in encoding, writing with the use of the pen is another story. i just hope that my boss wouldn't require me another stuff and wil let me write again with the use of my pen. thanks for responding to my post.

Actually, people always praise me for my handwriting since my period in primary school. But yes, I seldom do it now, as I get used to write by computer. Frankly speaking, I don't think my handwriting is good sometimes. For example, I once opened my notebook in high school, I was surprised for my "ugly" handwriting, but teacher's comments showed it was nice. And I'm not satisfied with handwriting now. The less practice, the uglier it looks. And sometimes I have to write in a hurry, it makes the handwriting too rough. And in another word, I do think handwriting is better when I'm in good mood. But even if in this situation, people also say my handwriting is nice. Maybe I'm too picky. But I like handwriting, indeed!

What kind of job is that --requiring you to do it manually? well, at least you made it with positive comment from your boss. you may be too tired then but still have the ability to write legibly. I am a left-handed person and i write well. I love my penmaship. You know what i can also write using my right hand. My writing using my right hand is legible but i write slow.

hi flagella^^;; my handwriting is something i am proud of because people usually ask me if my course/major was engineering because of the way i write specially in a printed way and my cursive is also legible. although, i don't write much like u but i still maintain it. I am learning now Korean language and the way i write the characters were complimented by my Korean friends. I think u should not worry much as long as everybody like your boss can read it..

Before, I used to hate it. I am used to writing in long hand and was very good at it. In high school, my penmanship got better. I learned how to write in short hand neatly. In college, I was voted as batch secretary since my penmamship was good for them. Yeah, maybe I like my penmanship. By the way, I like your name. Reminds me of microorganism, lol, (no offense).

I am a bold writer. I prefer to write in all capital letters. If I'm not on the rush, I can write legible and in good form, but I don't like it when I rushed it. It don't look good. It became like a doctor's penmanship. Lol! Sometimes it also depends on the pen I am using, I prefer the one with thick point. But I also prefer typing than writing. My hands are easily get tired in writing. This is a nice topic. Happy myLotting!

Hi flagella08! I like my penmanship. I always make sure that my handwriting is good. I like it to be readable. As someone who has been teaching for a very long time, a good penmanship can be pleasing to the eyes especially when I rate the papers of my students.

Modesty aside, I do think I have nice penmanship. My print is very even and my cursive looks pretty, lol. I'm also studying (just self-taught via the internet) to do Spencerian writing. I used to transcribe antique documents for the National Archive and just fell in love with the script.

Hi flagella08 At first I don't understand what is "penmanship", but after I read your explanation, I guess it has the same meaning as "hand wrting", am I right? I'm a college student and since kindergarten until now, I do most of my task byt writing manually. Only type for some special assignment or final paper. So, I'm quiet satisfy with my penmanship What about university in your country? They still ask handwritten task or not?

I like my penmanship. I write and print very well. I think it is a result of my getting a bad grade in penmanship when I was in second grade, lol. Sometimes I write just to write.

honestly speaking, i dont like my penmanship but im trying to improve it because they say that it is important to have good penmanship if you are a teacher especially that i am an elementary teacher.sometimes id rather encode my projects because im shy about my penmanship because some of my classmates has good penmanship like computers, they have different styles.

I try to write something with a pen every day. I have a fountain pen that I have owned for years and I still enjoy writing with it. The problem is that my writing is difficult for other people to understand. I don't know why because I don't have any problems with it! - Derek

I use to write alot when I was stil going to school. I often notice that some of my letters look the same which can only be understood with the words that they are used on. In some cases, others think that my 'r' looks like a 'v' and 'u' looks like an 'n' Much more with my cursive writing which I want to really improve. I can still write in print but, I would really like to write in cursive, somewhat that it can still be presentable.

You do tend to lose some skill without constant practice. About the only writing I usually do lately our grocery lists and things to do lists. You can opt to type it out in a cursive script that is available on your computer, although I do not know if that is what your boss wanted. At least you got it done anyway. My penmanship is legible although I do see many people write better than I do but I also see a lot worse. I used to work for a guy who could not spell so he made his writing all scrambling so that people could not tell, it made it difficult to decipher his writing, I just wish he hadn't learned how to spell it would've made my life easier. I do not think they teach penmanship in the schools anymore do they? It has been a long time since I've been in school but that is what I hear.

Now, my cursive has always been attrocious. I tried to avoid using that as much as possible from the time that I was a child. However, when it comes to my manuscript, I really do like that. It is very easy to read both for myself and for other people to read as well. I do still write on a piece of paper quite frequently and thus I am able to maintain my handwriting. However, I don't spend as much time with a pen and paper as I used to.

i really do not like my penmanship that is why I would be either encoding stuff in my laptop or ask someone to print it put for me. It would be difficult for others to understand my handwriting especially if I am not in the mood. My mom even says that my handwriting looks like that of a doctor's.
