If an animal rescue asked for people to take in a few pets

would you take in one animal knowing that if you did not it would be destroyed?I would take in at least two if they were cats as they are easy to look after.Would you also help them to find homes for the other animals they have at the rescue place?

interesting you posted this. I just tried adopting this cat the other day, a female declawed cat, so I thought I would give it a home, well the cat opted to cry all night two nights in a raw begging to be let go out. I had no choice then to let it go free, did not want to stay in a warm home. oh well.:(

I can take cats and dogs even five of them. i can look for other people to adopt them for a while as I have friends who likes to take care pets i am sure they have a room for them. Animal rescue will always count on me. My house is not big but I have the heart to adopt them, because that is my passion, to love domestic animals.

It depends on the animals, and my life situation at the time. All our animals were strays, drop-offs from city people who wanted rid of them, or rescued from somewhere - they all have been, except for a couple of horses and one dog in the last thirty years. I try to find homes, but if I don't have the room or time or money then I don't keep them myself.

I would if we had the room. Right now we have three cats and as much as I would love another cat my husband will not allow it. He feels that three cats is enough. I have had some family members who have adopted from an animal rescue place and have had a lot of success. I wish you the best of luck.

I don't think I would because I cannot afford it. I have taken in stray animals before but it never worked out. We have always bought our dogs and the strays did not mix very well with our dog we already had. I am not a cat person either.

In my current situation, no. I have a couple of dogs that aren't too keen on small animals, like cats. I'm afraid that they would end up chasing and possibly attacking them. Or my kids might accidentally let them out. I don't like the thought of animal shelters putting these animals down, but if people would get their pets spayed or neutered shelters wouldn't be overflowing with unwanted animals in the first place... Happy mylotting!

I sure wish I could take in and rescue a pet or two and would do so in a heartbeat, but I already have two kitties and my landlord put his foot down that I was only allowed my current two I have helped someone though, in fact a fellow mylotter, who was to move from the home she was living in, and into her son-in-laws home...the family put the strict rule that while they would allow the dogs they had to go with them, they didn't want the cat that had bonded to my mylotter friend. She was desperate since the only shelter near her (in an area of Georgia) was a kill-shelter. She asked for my advice and help since she knew I had ties with pet rescuers. So I started a search and even though I'm in NY while she is in Georgia I managed to find a pet rescuer and not far from her. Then I posted a discussion here at mylot for fellow mylotters to perhaps help..another mylotter said she love to take in the cat..problem..SHE was in North Carolina! sheesh! Anyway with constant back and forth emails between all concerned, the pet rescuer took in the cat temporarily until transport could be arranged from Georgia to North Carolina...it took more than a month to arrange, but everything worked out....and it gave me such a feeling of satisfaction that I had a hand in giving that kitty a new home

If I had a home and room I certainly would. I rent and my daughter is already in trouble for having too many cats and she is in a rental. So, no I wouldn't be able to take the animals and I would feel bad but if you can't you can't. There is a new show on National Geographic channel that is interesting. It is called Rescue Ink. About about four big biker guys who go out and confront people who are abusing and neglecting animals. It is very good.

This is what happen when I got my Cody. He was going to the animal shelter because the family who had the dog couldn't take care of it anymore. They asked me and I just couldn't let him go not knowing what could happen to him. I now have him for 10 years.

If I had still lived out on the farm I might think of taking in two animals but I live in town and I do not like to have to tired up or pin in a dog I think he should be able to run but in town they can not. I am not a cat lover so I would not want a cat.

Hi jugs I would help them find a home. I might even be able to get one for myself. Im looking to find a Yorkie puppy. The one that won't get any bigger than 4-5 pounds. I think that anyone that can should help out with the animal shelters. Those little animals need love and attention just as same as the pure breed. Great discussion and have a nice day my friend.

Our youngest dog was adopted from a woman that does animal rescue. She was an eight week old puppy at a high kill shelter in Tennessee before the woman we adopted her from got her. When my daughter first saw Jasmine she was in love and I knew that we'd have to adopt her. In answer to your question in general, I am a very soft hearted individual and if I knew that there were animals that were going to be destroyed I would take in as many of them as we could handle. We once had five dogs at one time and now in our house we have two so I know that we would be able to take in at least one more dog or cat into our family.
