My daughter tells me that her teacher has what is called a gum can. Made me want to pick up a piece of wicker right then...not bamboo..but wicker..yes. Not bamboo staus but.. She has this big coffee can that she makes the kids spit gum in and saves it until it's full.
Do you remember something strange your teacher did? Made you think she was a panda in disguise?

JeninTn, you have confused me, maybe I misread, or maybe you left some words out, but what does the can have to do with wicker unless that is what the can is made out of, or unless that is what it made you think of?
My senior year I had a teacher who had a folgers can that he'd drop infront of a student if they were sleeping in class. The subject? Tech Math, enough said am I right? Math would put anyone to sleep!

Ah I see... I don't know, Wicker is thin and lightweight, I think that bamboo is hollow inside so in a way medium weight. In any case, yea he was a bit of a boring teacher, but he was also very strict. He'd walk the class and give everyone weird looks, maybe that was supposed to make us pay attention, I don't know. He was a good guy though as he asked me if I was okay one time after school when I was really just having a hard time.

She saves it until it's full and then what???
I once read about a guy that had kept his earwax for years and he had a butter container full of the stuff. He wasn't a Teacher though I don't think. Talk about disgusting! People that do strange crap like this aren't panda's in disguise, no way. They're twisted FREAKS that really look at taking up something like Oregami or cat skinning! I had an English Teacher that once taught the class dressed in a frog suit and that was pretty odd. I don't even remember why he wore it either, so whatever his intentions were, he failed to get any memorable lesson across!

I think the teacher wants to show how much gum the kids chew while in school. Are children allowed to chew gum while in class. Here they would be punished if found chewing gum.

I just referred to a teacher as a panda because of the topic I placed it under..panda spanking. It seems silly to me that she would have a coffee can full of chewed gum and since this is panda spanking I'm thinking she might need one..lol.

This is on the same subject. There was a teacher in my building that did the same thing with the gum jar, but there was another who did something better. Since she taught music, it was kind of difficult to have gum in the mouth. SO, when the kids came into her room with gum, she always told them they could put it on the rim of the trash can until they left! YUCK!! I don't know that any ever tried it, but I sure hope not. I know that I had a volleyball coach who made me wear mine on my nose all through practice for DARING to have it in my mouth in the gym. Makes no sense since I was still in the gym, but I was embarrassed with it stuck on there!!

OMG, Jen, so sorry so long in responding, very little time for computer lately!
What, pray tell, is the purpose of the collection of this nasty "virus" pit? Is this lady on the verge of falling off the face of the earth? For some odd reason, I find this very vulgar, and unsanitary.....and truly, Jen, I think that I would have issues with this practice, especially NOW in light of the typical FALL health issues. Cheers, Jen....and HUGZ!

Good morning, dear Jen.....Truly "Thank YOU" so kindly for making my morning..the best response is truly appreciated....a bright ray of sunshine in the midst of ravaging Fall days, with torrential rains...and power outs! Sorta like the beautiful rainbow..I shall not forget.
AND JEN....just to insert some humour here....and long, long deliberation...I have come to the conclusion...THIS TEACHER...is a true recycler...and probably has a contract with Walmart...for "GUM BOOTS"!
OMG...this weather is making me delusional...LOL! HUGZ & CHEERS!

Hi pergammano! It's ok..we all get covered up from time to time. I just started taking classes so there may be times when I don't have alot of time too.
Yes!!! It is gross! A virus pit is a great way of putting it...shew..their probably in there mutating as we speak! I told my daughter she better not go in that class with any gum that she might have to put in there..no chances on getting close to the pit! Hugs!

Jen-
It is probably easier then asking kids to spit it where she can't see. I've had kids stick gum under desks and it's darn right hard to get off without scraping. I've had my students scrape desks before because of it. Every class got to do it so as not to let one of them off for a very disghusting mess.
Now, I can't personally recall anything "strange" by my teachers, but I loved Mr. Woodward. He used to carry this huge walking stick during class and strike it down hard on the desk of anyone that was falling asleep. It's ashame that I just read on our reunion board on facebook that apparently someone in our class stole it at graduation time and mailed it back to him in pieces! How sad and juvenile.

Gum is the worst mess in the history of messes. I can see why teachers would want to keep it out of their classes. There was a teacher when I went to school that would slam things if they saw someone asleep. They would drop a book on the floor next to the kid. Thanks for the response.

That is weird. I hate to sound uneducated but I had to look that umblicus up just to make sure what she was rubbing
I was right but I wanted to make sure.

When I was little our teachers used to make us put the gum on our nose for the remainder of the class if we were caught chewing gum.
