Donating money while being stopped at an intersection

Today while I was driving around I saw there were kids from one of the colleges holding buckets out for charity money at every intersection. The charity they were collecting for was Children's Cancer. Which brings me to ask - Do you donate money to put in the charity buckets when you are stopped at a red light?

I don't drive but I see the fireman collecting money in the intersection. They have the big fireman boot and walk around between cars. If I walk by I drop some change if I have it.
Sometimes they have people dressed up with signs for churches or people in priest outfits holding a bucket and collecting money. I don't donate to them be course most of the time those are scams. You can rent those outfits and signs here in Vegas.

No, I donate through my church, through United Way, and through one or two others that I know are accountable. People on a street corner can be anyone with a good story.

I'll only do it for the firemen, everyone else will have to get in line behind my checkbook! I have to know that my money is going to a real charity that spends most of it on the cause, not administration. So I don't give to people collecting for charities on the street, they could be pocketing the money.

I've never given money to people stopped at intersections. I'm not there to give them money. I'm trying to drive somewhere and it's unforunate enough that I just managed to get stopped at a light while they were standing there. I think it sort of cons people into giving because it's such an impulse type of thing. You see them, now you only have a few minutes and want to give them money.

We donate to those buckets every now and then if we have some extra money or small change with us. I do not do it all of the time though. I just cannot afford to. I give a few times a year and that is about it.

No I don't. The reason is because there are many unscrupulous people in the charity collection business. Much of that money never makes it to any charity. It simply lines the pockets of scam artists. Many of these scamsters aren't connected to the charity at all!

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I guess it depends on if I've got the extra money at the time to give. I would love to be able to give to every charity, maybe one of these days I'll be able to.

I don't see them doing that much around here anymore but of course i'm not out like i use to be either. Sometimes i do & sometimes i don't. I thinkreally it is dangerous for the kids to do that.
