Don't know about y'all but i will be sooo glad when Halloween is over. I usually buy candy i don't like then i'm stuck w/it if i don't give it all away. If i buy what i like i eat tooooo much of the darn stuff. This year i bought the kind i like & pretty soon if saturday doesn't get here i'll be able to get a new job as the fat lady in the circus.. Do y'all have a problem w/this?

We have numerous kinds of candy flavored as fruits that we have never actually had in your house before. The simplest way to save money on Halloween is to be somewhere else. When I was a kid, we used to “recycle candy.” As a safety precaution, my sister and I would trick or treat when it was still light out, usually between 5 – 7 PM. We would go out trick or treating and head home once our baskets were full. We’d sort through the candy in the living room, pick out the ones we really liked, and put the rest in the bucket our parents used to give out to trick or treaters visiting our house.

One of my responders said she put what was left in the freezer & would just take out some when she got hungry for candy. U might think about that. Thanks for your response.

Hi Jo.... We used to buy gobs and gobs of candy because we had so many kids come to our door whether in Texas or in Arkansas and we prayed we didn't run out. I always had to hide it so hubby wouldn't get into it and eat it all. He has an awful sweet tooth for candy. I like some but nothing like he does. Now in North Carolina and where we live which is way off the road, we don't have any trick or treaters come to our house. The first two years we were here, I bought gobs of candy and had only one child come to our door so both years and now he doesn't come any more so we stopped buying candy. We had our fun, especially in Arkansas when we had so many kids come.

If I buy candy I don't like, I'll eat it anyway. Might as well buy candy that I DO like. I can always dump whatever's left at work on Monday!

Well but you see, it's not a matter of liking or not liking, it's a matter of degrees. If it's candy I pretty much like it, but I have preferences. :-)

That was funny! When I buy the candy for halloween what I do is put it out of sight. That will control my desire to open the bags. Once Saturday comes though I will be all over it. I love the chocolate candy but I also love candy corn.

I will be away this weekend. I am going on a retreat to get away for a few days and rest. Just from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Therefore I won't need to buy candy. I do love candy and do not buy it unless there is an emergency when I then rush out and buy chocolate. I love chocolate in any shape or form. We had a few chocolate trees on the property and would pick the fruit and dry it. Therefore it is a vegetable and we should always eat up our vegetables!

You are NOT stupid, friend. You just don´t live where cacao trees grow. I don´t either. So what!!! Still, now they say that chocolate is good for your health. I´ll make a chocolate fondue with strawberries this Friday for my cousin. Good for yor brain.

I never have had to deal with trick-or-treaters much since I live so far back from the road. I feel like this is probably the reason, anyway. I'm glad, too. For this reason, I don't buy a lot of candy for Halloween. I do buy candy sometimes but it's usually Three Musketeers Bars, Candy Corn, the kind that's low in fat, in other words. I hope you enjoy your job as the fat lady in the circus, lol! Kathy.

Good morning, dear JO! Sadly enough, since my son has grown up, I live rurally enough that I do not get trick or treaters, unless the parents drive them around, and that is seldom. I have resorted to making Caramel Popcorn balls, and cookies, which YOU and I could eat with coffee/tea...LOL! All I am saying, is that I don't need the excuse of Hallowe'en to bring candy into the house...but I sure used to use, that excuse! LOL! Have a great one, HUGZ & LUV!!

Trick or Treat is not actually a halloween thing in our country. We have a different way of celebrating this. And with the trends here now, you can hear about "halloween party", "halloween concert" or a "midnight sale". And about the candies, me and my wife usually buys candies we don't like, lol, but it's for the kids, lol.

Well we don't really have that tradition during Halloween. But I do buy candies for kids once in a while. My grandchildren area ctually crazy about it but I don't often buy for them because I am protecting their teeth. I give them just once in a while and make sure they are brushing their teeth after.
