What do you think about the saying, "It is never too old to learn."?

Hello friends and fellow mylotters, I am so happy to let you know that I have learned something new today about some new use of computers on my side. You see, mylot page was very small in words and I had to look more closely at mylot page when doing some responding and posting. This afternoon (November 7th, 2009), I called to ask one of my friends who is a computer professional for the issue. He told me how to make the words bigger and I succeeded in making it. Now I am so happy with this discovery that I would be glad to share this information with you guys. If you want to enlarge any web-page to make it clearer and bigger for you to read, you may click "view" and and find "zoom". Then you may click "zoom in" to the size you prefer. This way the web-page is nice and big enough for you to read. Isn't that cool! It is never too old to learn. I expect to always learn something more about the use of computers, which is one of my favorites. So what do you think about the saying, "It is never too old to learn."? Love from williamjsir Take care!

Hi William. I believe that is very true, we are never ever to old to learn new things. I love that! It keeps us growing and excited about life, yes? And you're right about the computer thing...I've been online for a decade now and am still always learning something new about computers! Karen

Hello PW. I started to touch computers in the late nineties, but I did not touch it very often as I did not have one of my own until the year 2003 when I got my first laptop and started to have more chances to play with it. I am glad that I have been learning so much about computer in the past few years. Enjoy yourself, my dear friend.

Hi williamjisir! I have always been a believer in that saying. Life is a continuous journey. And as we live our life, day by day, there are always new things to learn. As someone who has been in the academe for more than a decade, I have encountered people older than I am who are still in the university. Not bad. It's nice to know that they are willing to obtain a degree even at their age. We never stop learning. The only time, we stop learning is when we die.

Hello dolce_vita. I appreciate your interest in as well as your response to this three-year-old discussion. I often find people at different ages who want to learn more in some field that interests them. The same case happens to me as well as this world we live in is developing so fast resulting in the necessity of knowledge updating. Otherwise we would fall behind without learning on and on. Have a beautiful day with you, friend.

Yes you are right it is never too late to learn. Every person you meet teaches you something, however young or old he or she may be. I learnt this from a very young age and I am glad I follow this very strictly. If you stop learning then you stop progressing.

Hello meapas. We Chinese have a saying that there must be a teacher of mine of the three people walking together. It vividly shows that we can always find a teacher who can teach us something that we have no idea about. Life itself is a teacher, from which we learn so much. Enjoy your wonderful day, my dear friend.

Hello Professor. I have just learned anther way of zooming from the responder above your response. Press Ctrl and then scroll your mouse or press + or - to zoom in or out. Give it a try and you will find it very helpful to you if you wish to zoom either in or out. Good day, my dear professor.

Hi williamjisir, sorry if this response comes a bit late. I just found this discussion. 47 is not old, you are in your prime. When I read this, I thought you must be at least 70 or so. I had to look up your profile. The other way to zoom the page is by holding the CTRL key and scrolling on your mouse scroll or holding the CTRL key and pressing +, to zoom out press -. I just learnt the last one just now. I knew there was a key on the keyboard, I thought it was the up / down key, tried it, didn't work, tried it on the + - key, it works.

I like learning new things (within limits). And I need to learn new things constantly in my line of work. I never knew I would know what SMTP/POP is!!! Now everyone in my company relies on me to solve any problems with our company email. Most of the time I managed to figure it out, but other times, I have to contact the email provider or someone else who knows better than me. Life is indeed a learning process.

That's not quite right...when you say "It" in this way, it's incorrect. "It" is generally not human or unspecified. On the other hand "you" would be a better choice of pronoun. You could also say "a person is never too old to learn" or "man is never too old to learn". Hope this helps.

I believe in that saying. As we go on with our lives and we face problems we learned from it. We always make mistake and from it we will learn. Learning doesn't stop from school. It is a continous process, even when we are not aware we still learn. When we go to different places and we are stranger from that place we ask question from people there to how to go to different places on that place, and from there we learnt. Don't get to far, this online money making opportunity we all have, we learned how to earn online, which we share with our fellow onliners. Being a first time parents, we learned from it. Even grandmothers and grandfathers are still learning. I had seen some grandchildren teaching their grand parents how to play PSP and how to use computer, it is fun. Me, I never stop learning.I always wanted to learn and I will never stop because in learning you grow.

I have heard the saying you are never too old to learn and I have also heard the saying you can not teach an old dog new tricks, and I personally think it has to do with a person instead of age,if a person no matter how old they are wants to learn something new and put their mind to it,and do their best they will learn it,unlike someone who just puts a halfway effort or believes they can not learn something new,and I think everyone can do whatever they want, and I enjoy learning new things, and I also believe you learn something new everyday.

I would say that is true because the sooner you get started on working on something you want to do the longer you will have to be able to do it. To get good at something you just need a lot of practice and as long as you have time to work at getting better at things then you will eventually get better at them.

Hello my friend williamjisir, Age has never been a bar. WE were sitting at our family friend's house to discuss about a Lady of 86 yrs, where her grand daughter a B Tech student had taught her to sign (who never went to school). We all appriciated that grand-daughter but much more in case of her grand motehr, as She had will to learn at this age. So I too have learnt many things. May God bless You and have great time.

Wow! Thanks for this William. Even I had little clue! I just checked it worked great! Indeed there is no age to learn new things and we become a child on discovering a new thing or getting to learn something new. Last time I felt this way was the time I learned how to take a screen shot by pressing Print Screen Key and shift. I felt like on the top pf the world.

Hi Williamjisir, Yes, i do agree with you that, it's never to late to learn anything to upgrade our self in any areas of expertise, especially in computer technologies. I was not really that expert when come to internet usage, as my former offline job, use email only on communication purpose with another branch only. As the result , i don't really know how to fully utilized the internet world. Only, after i resigned and have more free time to search and learn, then i had really understand how internet can help us a lot in our daily life. Happy learning...

"Every moment in life is a learning experience" -- Six Degrees of Separation. I totally agree with that. I'd like to tell u another easier way to enlarge the font of webpage. Just press the ctrl key on your keyboard and don't loose it, then roll the middle button of your mouse. What can you see now ? haha... If you know this trick you won't bother to press the menu and move your mouse to select the right menu item.
