What are your thoughts on wild animals as pets? I just started a topic on a woman whose face was torn off by a chimpanzee. I think wild animals should be left in the wild where they belong! What is your opinion on this? I don't like to go to zoos because I feel sorry for the animals. None of them look very happy. Can you honestly say you have seen an animal that seemed happy in a zoo? Wild animals run on instinct not on doing what their masters want them to do. It seems sad to have a beautiful wild animal living in a pen or an apartment building and having little or no freedom. It is very sad to me.

I understand. I enjoy seeing some too. i also like(for lack of a better word only) seeing the little sign that reads something about how they were injured by jerks that don't respect ,like for instance, the golden eagle, in our zoo who was shot and is there because it has not got both wings anymore. I can abide this because it is humane and atleast the animal has a life and occasionally the zoo people have another eagle in with them so have company and have some sort of life. It is the healthy ones that I have a problem seeing behind bars for our enjoyment and their detrement.

I believe that the animals should also be left in the wild or their natural habitat. I feel sorry for the fish in aquariums, whether that be at home, in a store or somewhere like sea world. It's sad to see such animals being so domesticated when really they should be out enjoying themselves, fending for themselves, etc. I recently watched happy feet for the first time, and I thought it was sad what was happening. I only caught part of it, I believe I missed most of the beginning of the movie, but either way... Also, Free Willy is brought to mind.

I like zoos, and I find that they have improved their handling of animals. Today's zoos are more than just some place to keep animals, they do very important work at trying to preserve endangered species and strengthen the gene pool so that we will continue to have healthy animals both in the zoo and in the wild. I am glad we can agree to disagree on things, I am sure you will get answers on both sides, but we are all entitled to our opinions.

Our zoo here has animals that have been injured or for some reason can not live out in captivity. Endangered species and helpint the gene pools are great. I have no problems with them. It just hurts me to see otherwise healthy wild animals behind bars. That is all I am trying to say here. It hurts me.

Selfishness!! They think its cool. I went to the zoo with a friend this last summer and had a panic attack. I just couldn't abide it.

Wild animals should not be kept as pets. I think its bad for the animal as well as the owner.

I believe all wild animals belong in thewild. They aren't meant to be pets or most people would probably have one. They also shouldn't be in zoos, because that restricts them from having freedom in the wild.I feel sorry for zoo animals. The animals are probably happier in the wild so they can run.I love to watch nature shows about animals in their natural habitat, because they belong there. They're happy.
