All four of my boys are growing so quick that no sooner have i brought new school trousers they tend to be grown out of them yet again. Now i am going to have to spend more money on clothes,it seems never ending getting them clothes and never myself. As well as it is always their trousers that they always grow out of.Plus when i buy new ones i end up having to turn them up.

My cousins pass down the clothes of their children to save on that because, yes, clothes are expensive these days and kids grow out of them so fast. Alternately, they buy stuff a size bigger so their kids can "grow" into them or they last longer.

I do pass the clothes down to all of my sons as well as then pass them on to a friend if they are still looking ok,saves money.

hihugsjugs I sure do remember those days when my son grew out of his pants almost faster than I could buy them and shoes too. sometimes we had to buy a new pair mid winter as his feet had grown so much. alas now he is an adult of fifty and I am a senior citizen. but he is still hard on his shoes. I also remember my mom would buy us school clothes but would never buy clothes for herself. I felt always guilty and was always going mom you need a new dress or you need a new coat. She was a very selfless woman. God love her soul.

that's my 12 year old, seems like as soon as I buy her new pants, her shoes are too tight, then the weather gets cold and her jackets are too small, etc. Can't wait until the twins get to that age, yikes!

I remember my mum buying me a duffle coat that was way too big for me when I was about 14. She said "I'd grow into it"... I was still wearing it aged 23!

My youngest grandson is doing the same thing right now. His mom called me today and was tellling me that he needs clothes again. That his pants wont fasten around his gut..LOL..He is only 7 and wears a size 8 Husky or even an 10 in jeans. I told her I would try and see if I could find him some at the second hand store. Maybe it is in the water is why they are growing so fast..LOL Have a nice day and keep smiling.

I tried holding on to some of my sons trousers fot the younger sons but my younger son is fatter than the older one so that was no good, lol.I pass all my sons as well as my daughters clothes on to friends as well as to charitys rather than throwing them away as it will save someone some money some where.

Oh yeah I have finally got my ex daughter in law to start donationg the boys clothes too. My youngest is 7 and wears size 8 husky and 10 shirts. His brother who is 11 wears size 10 pants and 10 shirts. If the younger keeps going he will be bigger than his brother...LOL

Although I do not have children myself, most of my friends do. A lot of them shop at Goodwill or other second hand stores for clothes, or at least play clothes.

I can remember when my son was growing up that he could grow 2 or 3 inches at a time and the jeans that I had just bought and were like brand new had to be put away and more purchased. On top of that he was so thin that there was only one brand of jeans that would fit. I would go over to our local Farm and Fleet and be able to get the Lee brand of jeans at a reasonable price. Now my daughter-in-law has discovered garage sales and my grandson loves going with her because he often gets a toy. He's so proud of his dinosaur jacket (a beautiful lightweight jacket that has a small logo on it). It was probably quite expensive when new and this jacket still looks brand new and she just paid a couple of dollars for it.

We just bought my grandson a nice new pair of winter boots. I wonder how long these will last him since his tennis shoes we bought him for school in late August only last about two and a half months. His pants are all getting too small too. I learned long ago to buy them a size too big and they last alittle longer but not much. Easier to do that when they are younger.

Hasn't anybody explained to you that we have children simply so we have a good reason to give up everything we've ever wanted!!! Buy everything too long & too large. They'll grow into it!!!

I just looked at my 4 year old grand daughter this morning. She is growing up. Her pajama bottoms are way too short, fit perfectly in the waist, just too short. If we got up a size then the waist is way too big. I think with a pair of long socks they can be worn for a little bit longer. Children grow so quickly. We have to buy shoes too because her foot is growing and her toes are so long. Happy Holidays. Happy Mylotting

My son is sixteen and is shooting up like crazy at the moment. He was always a small boy but over the last six months he has grown from a fourteen year olds clothes to a small mans size.It is true he goes to bed one size and wakes up another size up.We hope at five foot nine he will stop for a while. My friends get all his clothes he has grown out of for their sons.I am talking everything from underwear to best clothes every three months. With four boys doing that it must be a nightmare.Passing the clothes down the line seems to be the answer.I buy second hand stuff for my self at the mercy of my friends charity. To be honest I don't really mind as long as my son gets what he needs it is alright with me.I find the taking up of trousers a waste of money because once you have taken them up,you get that line around the hem when they need to come down.Breaks my heart.

Hi JJ, i am having the same concern too. before the school year ends i need to pruchase another set of uniforms for them. i have sons and both are really growing so fast. I just bought two new pair of shoes for both of them because their old shoes don't fit them anymore...whew really expensive. My youongest son can still enjoy his older brother's shirt but not the pants and shoes... it's big enough to fit him but i know it will fit him sooner than i expect it to be.

Can you set up a clothing exchange with the other parents? As kids outgrow stuff you can put it into the "store" and have something else that does fit instead. I bet a lot of parents would be grateful for this kind of thing, most kids outgrow stuff before it wears out and it could save a lot of money in the long run.

Well I am not married and thus certain don't have kids. But it's true kids grow up fast and their old clothes stop fitting in. Have to buy new clothes quite frequently. Thus I guess it is expensive. XD !!

I know that feeling. they grow like a weed, it seems. I always make sure my husband and daughter get new clothes too and hardly ever buy myself anything either. Buying just for those two, takes alot of money itself.

oh i know what you mean! we are quite fortunate that we get hand me downs from a number of people and if we need something we go to the local thrift stores. that is my advice (if you dont have people to share clothes with) is to go to your local thrift store! you never know what you can find there.

I remember being a headache for my family because I was outgrowing clothes everyday. They hated it. On top of that, I was a late bloomer, so once I started kicking in, it was over. I had only a few hand me downs because there were not that many guys my age in my family. Combine the late blooming with a growing football player figure. I don't know about girls, but it is always bad with boys because we can grow so big. We don't know where we will stop. I remember I received a shirt once that was two sizes too big, someone saying that I would grow into it in about six months. Six weeks later, I tore it off my back. It was kind of cool at times because I was growing muscle, and sometimes hulked out of something on purpose, knowing that it was too tight. Now, I am still like that because I am lifting weights, and getting bigger, so I am working up to another size shirt and pants. I wore 3x shirts for the past 2 years, but after I found out my shoulders didn't like one shirt, and my upper body is too big for three other shirts, it is time to move to a 4x/58 inch chest. I don't spend a ton of money on clothes unless I stop growing for a while to enjoy clothes, but because I am so big that there are few stylish clothes at the store.

My son said he is always having to buy my granddaughter more jeans before the school year is over with. They just grow so fast. When I was growing up my sister and I wore the same size so we had to share some of our clothes.

My eldest is a girl followed by two boys. I spend expensive clothes on my eldest hoping that we will still have another girl in the family. All her clothes are neatly packed in our closet and were working for a girl right now.

I have a good idea. Why not have clothes that grow with your child. There are such materials available in the market. My mother had no problem as she had 5 daughters in a row and the phrase 'hand me downs' was oft repeated in our household. Tell you what I have an idea. Why dont you look around your extended family , and see if this 'hand me downs' idea could be implimented!
