Oh you hit the nail on the head there. I hate it, avoid it, even try to tell people I believe like some tribes do that a picture will take your soul. Nothing seems to work though and I end up getting them shot continually. Have even lost friends (of the male gender) because I don't send them pics of myself.

Hi celticeagle, I love that excuse about the picture taken will take your soul! May I have your permission to use that?

I'm exactly the same way. I'm just not photogenic as far as I'm concerned. I think I can count on one hand how many pictures came out good of me. I do the same as you when its a group picture I hide behind the tallest person. If I came out good in pictures I probably wouldn't care but some people come out good in pictures and others don't.

I don't mind it but I actually prefer to be the one taking the photo instead of being in it. I don't go out of my way to hide from the camera. If someone wants to take my photo, fine. I don't mind it.

I am the same i would prefer not to be in a photo as that way i do not have to look or should i say try to look either with a natural smile or look like i am being forced to smile. As for id photos i hated then as they make you look such a grumpy person and lets face it we all age so a few months later it do not look the same as you anyway.

Hi jugsjugs, I am right with you there, I try at all costs to avoid the camera, video (especially hate that) and any recording devices at all. I have pictures of when I was little (no choice back then) and not one picture am I smiling, my mom says its because everytime she brought out the camera I was miserable, well, nothing has changed. I have cited phobias in relation to the camera, told them I was wanted for some msterious crime and can not have my picture taken for fear of being discovered...I have used all but the one that celticeagle wrote about having your soul taken from the camera (I like that one!) But I love looking at other people's pictures!

I just grin and bear it. In fact we went and had formal portraits taken last Thursday. We put a photo wall up at church and then a directory and they are talking about a website as well. It was pretty painless. There were pictures that made me look funny, and one squint eyed one that looked like I needed to be saying "I'll get you for this!!" but we got one good one and we will likely order Christmas cards from it as well.

I do know a few people that tend to have their pictures of them as well as their family on christmas cards and they do look good, where as one of us would look like we were asleep or that we are not smiling or that we look a bit miserable and thats without anything else, lol.

Why do you hate it. For me it is fine to take my photo. I like to pose a funny pose to make it more memorable. When I am with a group it is so much fun to take a photo for that day should be always be remembered. Whenever me and my friend were having a date we always have a photo taken. We take note and took photo of the places we have been through and my friend post it to her social site and we leave a comment on the photo. For me it is fun. I am not pretty but I find it fun to take my photo.

I enjoy being in pictures and capturing moments and memories. What I don't like is the way I look in the pictures these last few years. I have gained alot of weight and looking at the pictures I think I look so bad. It does serve a purpose and that is to remind me of the weight and to eat right and exercise. Otherwise I like having my picture to have those memories with my family and friends.

I have noticed that alot of people enjoy taking photos when you are not looking your best as well as they seem to capture a photo when you least expect it and it looks like you are having a bad day as well as your face looks all screwed up.

hi jugsjugs I always looked like someone on the ten most wanted criminals no matter what. and the picture I last had for my identification from the dmv looked like I was bawling. I am just not photogenic at all.I hate having my picture taken, but I did get one really good one once by a real photographer once then he moved away. so I am like you,I just do not like having my picture taken at all.

Do you think that as we get older that we get like that as my daughter do not like anyone to have her photo taken yet she do not mind to take her own photo infront of her mirror taken by herself as well as she puts in on face book.I however do not like taking my own or have anyone else take my photo.

I do not like to have my photo taken and try to avoid it. Whenever I look at the camers something happens to my face and I look terrible. It is like my face twists around and my mouth doesn't know what to do. My photo is terrbile. I am not photogenic.

I am the same it seems like sometimes the person you see in the pictue is looking a bit rough as well as the picture shows up all of those blemishes and if you have a spot it looks ten times worse than what it realy is in the photo

I hate having my photo taken as i always seem to look fake when they come out as my smile looks forced and i look really uncomfortable! The best photos of me are ones that are taken un-expectantly when im just carrying on with my everyday life of with friends or family having fun cos the preparation of a photo makes me feel so uncomfortable.

I couldnt have said it better myself. I hate being photographed. I actually dont like looking at myself, even on the mirrors. I also hate mirrors. Though I would gamely be in a photograph if it was with close friends, or a group shot where I would hardly be noticeable. If I can, I try to avoid being in the photograph myself as well, thats why I always volunteer to take the picture. So that they wouldnt have to worry about it and Id avoid being in it. Kinda like a two for one deal.LOL If I absolutely cannot avoid it I agree to it, only one shot, if they try to take more, then I instinctively hide behind something, or put my hands in front of my face so they wouldnt have a clear picture of me.

No I do not like having my picture taken. I just do not like how I look in a picture but when I am at family gathering it is hard not to get my picture taken as someone is all snapping a picture of someone.

I am also another of the people that doesn't like to have my photo taken. I only have them done very occasionally. I had professional pictures taken when my husband and I were getting ready to get married. Then, after that I haven't really had my picture taken until this past summer when we had family pictures done for the first time of the four of us. I am usually the person that is behind the camera so that I am able to avoid being in the pictures.

I don't like having my photo taken at all. I was a bridesmaid at my brothers wedding and they had tons of disposable cameras on the tables and all the official photos taken too I hated it! I look at the photos and think I don't look like that! It never seems to come out looking right, my father in law always manages to take the worst photos of me I always look weird in his photos!
