Me and my honey went to Food for Less to pick up a couple more things for Thanksgiving. The cashier was very rude, she never said hello or how are you. She was on the phone the whole time she rang us up. After the third Phone call she said "I be right back". I'm like"Excuse me but I have to catch the bus in 10 minutes". She stopped for a second and said "I be right back". She just left us in the middle of ringing up our groceries. What a B1tch.After about 3-4 minutes she came back like nothing ever happened. I almost just left the stuff and went to a different store. Has this ever happen to you?

I'm a cashier and that is beyond rude. I once had an emergency call while I was waiting on customers and luckily my boss was there and I signaled him to come take over. It was concerning my daughter and I was torn as I know...it is so rude to be on the phone while dealing with customers yet this was a real emergency. My girls know that when they call if the phone rings 3 times...I'm busy and to wait and try again later. I don't as a rule pick up the phone when I have customers in front of me. This particular it time was so persistent that I had to. Likewise...I so hate it when a customer comes up to the counter talking on their cell.

Of course you can't help those calls from your little ones . You were very professional about it and got someone to replace your register.

Like sconibear said,,you handle that the right way. You didn't just walk of and let people stand there.

Hi Missybear, That is unacceptable. She needs to undergo excellent customer service seminar. This incident needs to be reported to the store management for appropriate action. She is in the frontline job and she needs to be friendly.

You really should have complained to the manager. They can't correct what they don't know about. Did you know that cashier's name or numbers are on you receipts along with the store number and manager's name? But at the same time when you are treated right you should also let the store know about that cashier too.

You still can report it the next time you go back in there. You should. People like that should not be working with the public. Short of a stroke or heart attack there is no excuse not to give the customer your full attention.

She should've never picked up her phone while ringing you up and she should've never left the cash register while ringing you up. I think that is incredibly rude. I have had people not talk to you at all, which I think is rude, but what you went through is even ruder.

Hi dreamr802: i think the same as you do, that's disrespectful and according to the story this girl can not work with a phone because she just simply forget that she's making a job and that she must be nice to the public in the restaurant simply because that's her job. OMG this is so simple i can't understand how a person can't understan that the public are they reason why they work so they must be nice to them or they'd probably loose their jobs.

Great goodness, I could have found that rude too. We have a local Fred's store, kinda like a Dollar General, and they have one employee there that they need to send to manners school because she's so rude to everyone. She never smiles, never says thanks, come back. Have a nice day, nothing she just looks at you with these evil eyes like your wasting her time. It honestly drives me nuts to go to her check out line and if at all possible I will avoid it.

Being friendly and courteous should be a requirement of the job. I have been in this business for years. I have gone into work while going thru a divorce and dealing with teens and all sorts of things....you need to leave it at the door. Your personal life should not be brought to your work.

Hi missybear, Well it wasnt ok for her to be like that. Maybe talking to the manager would be fair. She should be doing her job and not being on the phone. I remember once i went to eat at a place with a friend. We order the food, and we ask for the paycheck. The thing is they made us wait like 10 minutes and no one approach to us. When i grew up tired of waiting, i ask one of the waiter, why they havent give us the paycheck, he just said "sorry i forgot about you guys". I mean we could have leave that place and no one would have says us anything.

hi missybear oh yes a few years ago I was at my diabetes nursepractioners a nd she told me to come back in three months.so I went to the front desk to make an appointment. told the office clerk what I wanted. She kept rigth on talking to another clerk as though I was not there. then 'finally while still talking to the other clerk, she did hit the keys on her computer keyboard. now she is still talking away like mad, not having said one word to me. then she writes out an appoint ment cared and just hands it to me. she never said one word to me in that ten minute period. She had made me wait ten minutes for a task that onlytook one minute when she finally did it. rude, yes indeed rude.

hi missybear, Good thing you are not from India or this would look like a child thing to you. In govt offices here clerks treat you like dirt or a begger and would make you wait hours for some file to move or get some work to do. They would suddenly go away for half hour and if you fallow them you would find them going out and smoking or just gossiping and they would talk very rude and if you dare to complain you would be abused. So thats why most people hire middle men if they have work in some govt. office. Yes even worse has happened to me to what happened to you. It is really unfortunate.

Well, that was so rude indeed. It's clearly that she has no customer service at all. She could have just apologized for the interruptions. It happened to me a few times before, but in different scenarios. Just last Friday, I went to a bank and there were so many customers inside the bank. I went to the ATM machine to register for the online banking, but my card was unable to process. So, I told the person-in-charge at the front desk how should I go about it. He said I have to get another number at the other side for 'customer service', but he didn't specifically show us the way, he just pointed using his mouth. My hubby and I got confused. So, I asked him again. He was hesitant whether to attend me or not. I could see there was a long queue in front of him, but if he could just stop for a second and point the direction using his hand, his life would be easier! Some customer service!!

That was too rude. If I were in your place, I'll leave my stuff sparse on the ground to let her feel how angry you are. Or maybe I'll tell her directly that she was so rude at all. Uneducated pathetic cashier!

Wow!! That is unreal, and I would have asked for a Manager if it would have been me, and also let them know I will not be back as well. Personally I think Cell Phones should not be allowed to be turned on or used when being a Cashier unless it is an Emergency, but for someone to talk on their phone instead of you, and then say they had to leave for a bit is rude as well. Hopefully management will catch wind of this and deal with the Cashier appropriately as this is not Good Customer service at all.

Hello Missy No this has not happened to me but I have to say I would be straight of to the Manager and put a Complaint in as that is out of order and yes very rude indeed I would have also left the Shopping and told the Manager that in future I shall do my Shopping elsewhere, where I will get the service and respect that I deserve

That would really tick me off if she did that especially after you told her that you had to catch a bus. She could have finished ringing you up before walking away, what could possibly have been that important that she couldn't finish the transaction? I would have been livid. I have had rude cashiers, but none that have actually ever walked away on me before. There is a small grocery store that I like to go to because they have excellent prices on produce and meat, but I noticed that I was never greeted or thanked when I went there, this began to bother me. I was tempted to call the store manager to say something, but recently I have been treated nicer.

Oh that's really rude!! am thankful this doesn't happen to me yet. If something like this would happen in the grocery store, I would really live or complain to other cashier. Why things like this happen? Or the best thing is to report her to the store manager. They are not there to play games with customers, or to just do their own thing while on the job. That is unethical. she should be reported.

Yes. I has also happened to me twice. Some people are just so annoyingly rude. Did you report this behavior to the manager? I always report this behavior to the manager so that he/she will know how the employees behave towards the customer. They should always keep watch over the employees because this is a service industry. Sometimes, if I really am annoyed because I had a bad day, I would snap at the rude person and give him/her a piece of my mind.

Hi missy bear: Actually i have never passed to this situation as i rember but i think i should go because of this cashier attention to me. I think that's not only inefficient but disrespectful. Maybe you should talk to her boss because i would never go again to this restaurant and he/she mus know how her employee is working and how you feel. I think that's a rational attitude that will teach her a lesson about how to give a good service, that's her work. Thanks for talking to us about this bad experience. Hope it never happend to you again girl. Have a nice day.
